Time After Time

If a person is under suspicion, it would seem that at some point existence becomes sterile and hopeless. The convicted man spends his life in violent retaliation against those who judge him. But he has a friend--or does he? At no time does any of the evidence stand up against him. Yet he must run and confront and run again. Nikki is admirable and, once again, very foolish. Politics enter into this again and it's hard when there is a threat over your head, as we see with Nikki. Well done episode.

Very deep, intelligent mystery.

The first part was very strong, the second part continues in the same vain, with a very satisfying conclusion.

Coup de Grace, the final blow or shot delivered to a wounded or injured animal, the mercy shot as it were. That title has more of a relevance then you think, as you learn the identity of the killer, and understand their motives.

The solution comes as a real bolt oit of the blue, one I didn't see coming. The interest once again lies with the clash between Police and phorensics. Lorraine Ashbourne is once again terrific as the DI, Michael Socha again excellent as David. This time round I think it's Tobias Menzies who steals the show.

Credit to Nikki, I mean is that woman ever wrong?

I thought this was excellent. 9/10

Rather cliché but still enjoyable

Warning: Spoilers
This story opens with Nikki giving evidence in an appeal case involving a former soldier who had been gaoled for murdering his boyfriend and another gay man. Her evidence help get the man released, much to the annoyance of DI Rachel Klein, the police officer responsible for the case. Not long afterwards there is another killing that bears all the hallmarks of the original case and Klein is more certain than ever that Nikki helped a guilty man walk free. Nikki is taken off the case but she gets involved with the man's solicitor which indirectly leads her into danger.

This was a decent enough story although it was fairly cliché with a member of the team having professional difficulties with an obstinate police officer and getting into a dangerous situation. That said there were still some pretty tense moments. I suspect a fair proportion of viewers will guess the real killer before he is identified… both from clues and the cliché that anybody who shows a romantic interest in a protagonist in a crime drama is going to end up dead or being the killer much of the time! The cast put in a fairly solid performance and as always everything looked good. Overall fans of the series are likely to enjoy it as clichés do at least mean the makers are delivering what is expected!
