Immense epic

Warning: Spoilers
This is definitely one of the all time great TV shows of Swedish film history - providing a thourough and informative, yet very cinematic and beautifully put together, chronicle of Sweden's history, all accompined by the narration of stellar actor Simon Berger.

It is incredible in terms of cinematography, cutting and editing - uses some stellar set pieces and props, and overall offers an incredible and authentic feeling to it, being very much a documentary, whilst going beyond that with the fictional recreations of the events.

Overall, definitely one of the better shows of the year, and ever recommended. Great piece of Swedish history!

History thats been altered to fit the modern world
mspvrede-035518 March 2024
The history series is good for the most part, but because there are so many modern distortions of history, it can never live up to being a truly reliable history series. It's tailored for a modern society where history is altered and adjusted to fit into a modern multicultural society, where certain things are omitted or changed to avoid offending anyone or different ethnic groups. Unfortunately, it's not a reliable series when it comes to history. Don't watch it if you want an authentic portrayal of Swedish history. Because, it doesn't live up to that.

Some parts of the series are good and reliable, while others are not. Knowing which is which is impossible unless you're well-versed in Swedish history. Therefore, it's not suitable to watch this series for academic or educational purposes.

I recommend watching the series if you're actually knowledgeable about Swedish history, as then the settings and scenes might be interesting. Otherwise, it's really below par and truly nothing special when it comes to the history of Sweden.

Props are ridiculous
ilja-juntunen8 November 2023
This could be so good. But the props are ridiculous. They store crops in an open container in a canoe = absolutely non-logical. Months of work could go wasted if it falls over. The sound effects when hunting (archery) are clichés. Some of the skins (headwear) looks like they're made with modern methods with perfect glossy high quality leather. Even seems the women have shaved their legs and the men have nice hairdos. The devil is in the details and the good stuff gets lost. I will continue watching anyway as the history is interesting - while the production is poor and should've been reviewed better.
