- TriviaIn the film's most dramatic moment, Kuralt holds in his hands a tiny, withered body, telling us this is what starvation looks like, that this baby was dying of starvation, he was an American, and now he's dead! A sobering, unforgettable milestone moment in TV was surely in the making, but it soon was revealed the baby had died of complications from unsurvivable premature birth, and not malnutrition, as declared by the baby's doctor, Luis Ray Montemayer. Kuralt had used a baby's corpse for a tear-inducing prop. A government investigation indicated the film had other falsifications as well.
