What an embarrassment Warning: Spoilers
Here we have the "Teen Choice Awards 2013", an annual television event from four years ago in which teens are told to vote for their favorites in all kinds of categories including music, movies and television. One of the two directors is an Emmy nominee and I also saw among the producers you find Emmy nominees, so maybe I thought just maybe this could become a decent show. Boy was I wrong. The problem is not that the way the categories are presented is so random like Hemsworth quickly rushing in the Best Comedy winner which I would expect one of the big announcements of the night. Oh well.. what can you expect from a show that honors the likes of Rebel Wilson, a garbage show like Ptretty Little Liars and gives a Lifetime Achievement Award to Ashton Kutcher, who I thought may be giving at least a decent speech, but things got south there pretty quickly too. About the hosts, Lucy Hale is sure easy on the eyes and honestly her and Bellisario's physicality are perhaps the only reasons to still watch PLL. The male host was an actor from Glee, Darren Criss I think and well he was as cringeworthy as I expected him to be knowing about his embarrassing story from the Emmys. Anyway, the music was as generic and forgettable as it gets. The twerking world record at the very end was a complete joke and I felt Hale realizes at least how they were making a fool of themselves. The "Don't text while driving" thingey was a honorable idea, but the way it was executed inside the show was also a huge embarrassment with that random 97& bar supposed to tell everybody the participation was huge. Like seriously, what the hell? And still I was tempted to give this show at least 2 stars out of 5. But then the unspeakable happened. Sandra Bullock was pretty much announced as a guest for half the show and as we find out at the very end her win was announced like that basically. The biggest no-go in awards shows ever. Can you imagine watching the Oscars and they say oh yeah and Leonardo DiCaprio gets his Oscar in 35 minutes. Unreal. With the exception of Jim Parsons' win and some of the girls' looks (Halle, Collins, Steinfeld, Marano), the show was an utter failure from start to finish. Wouldn't want to be a teen if that is what they get. Don't watch. Absolutely don't.
