Quotes

  • Peter Collier : You were right. Something had to be done, Which is why we reached out to you, Mr. Sommers.

Stu Sommers : You - you did it? You sent me the package?

Peter Collier : We sent you the means to exact justice for your daughter, and you had the courage to act. Unfortunately, the car crash wasn't successful, requiring this improvisation, but everything worked out in the end. You should go now, Mr. Sommers.

[He flees, Collier turns to Kruger]

Peter Collier : I think you understand now.

    Wayne Kruger : Understand what?

Peter Collier : What is lost when your privacy's stripped away. Your identity, your job, your family, security, everything.

    Wayne Kruger : You...

Peter Collier : And thousands more just like me. People who have chosen action over apathy, to take back what men like you and the government have stolen. This wasn't a game, Mr. Kruger, this was a lesson, the first. We were just gonna scare you, but that wouldn't change anything, would it?

  • Wayne Kruger : I was just checking to see if my wife had called. I want to make sure she was okay.

Harold Finch : Mr. Kruger, I didn't want you using the phone because it might not be safe, but if you must check your messages, We can go through your phone carrier's web portal.

Wayne Kruger : Need my password?

    [Finch scoffs]

  • Wayne Kruger : His personal file would have to have an address; I can call tomorrow morning...

Harold Finch : [Waves hand]  Not necessary.

    Wayne Kruger : Why not?

    [Looks at the computer]

Wayne Kruger : Are you hacking my building's servers?

Harold Finch : Do you mind?

  • Wayne Kruger : I never touched your daughter.

Stu Sommers : You may not have put your hands on her like that monster did, but you're just as guilty.

    Wayne Kruger : I didn't do anything!

Stu Sommers : Exactly! See, her ex-boyfriend found her three times - *three* times, using your Life Trace. And every time he found her, we asked the company to take her information down, and they didn't do it, and so he found her again, and again, until the last time when he killed her. All because you and your company didn't do anything.

  • Wayne Kruger : I thought we were gonna discuss our deal.

Peter Collier : Yes, well, shortly after I called you. We attempted to revisit the issue with our CEO, but we couldn't get him to reconsider his decision.

Wayne Kruger : [Getting angry]  What?

Peter Collier : I'm sorry, I thought a face-to-face would be better than another phone call.

    Wayne Kruger : No.

    Peter Collier : Excuse me?

Wayne Kruger : [Freaks out, pulls out his weapon]  No! You have no idea what I've been through to get here!

Peter Collier : Mr. Kruger, why do you have a gun?

  • Wayne Kruger : What we're really working towards here at LifeTrace is the future, A future where every person's needs will be met because we have all the information necessary to meet those needs. Eating habits to predict diseases. Compatibility factors to eliminate loneliness. And the way we do that is by getting to know someone, from the major events of their lives, right down to the tiniest detail of their everyday routine. Learning everything about a person allows us to help them improve their life.

Peter Collier : Sounds appealing, but can I ask, have you run into any issues with respect to privacy concerns?

Wayne Kruger : Nothing significant. There are always a few who take issue with what we do, but these days, people know, you can't fight the technology. And let's be honest, those crying the loudest about privacy are probably the ones trying to hide something. That's why I put my own profile up on our site. Anyone can look me up and see, I've got nothing to hide.

  • Harold Finch : [after Kruger tries to make a call]  I'd prefer you didn't do that.

Wayne Kruger : I'd prefer you mind your own business.

Harold Finch : That's a tad ironic, coming from a man of your profession.

    Wayne Kruger : Meaning what?

Harold Finch : Meaning your business is minding everyone else's business.

Wayne Kruger : I do what I do to simplify and improve other people's lives. What is it that *you* do?

Harold Finch : We help people out of difficult situations, even situations of their own design.

Wayne Kruger : So it's my fault that some wacko's trying to kill me?

Harold Finch : The man lost his daughter, Mr. Kruger, to a stalker who was aided by your service. You feel no accountability?

Wayne Kruger : I'm part of a $300 billion-a-year industry. Information abuses are unfortunate, but they happen. Can't be helped.

Harold Finch : Oh, they can, but only if the people who have access to the information are as interested in protecting it, as they are in profiting from it.

  • Wayne Kruger : Where am I?

Harold Finch : Somewhere you won't be attacked by the people who are trying to kill you.

Wayne Kruger : And you are?

John Reese : Right now, your only option.

  • Wayne Kruger : Looking for someone?

    [Holds gun]

Wayne Kruger : Easy. I won't miss at this range. So what was the plan? Were you gonna take me out before or after my meeting?

    Stu Sommers : I hadn't decided yet.

Wayne Kruger : You know, you've caused me a great deal of pain and suffering, Mr. Sommers.

Stu Sommers : That was the point.
