YES... now we're cooking

Last week was quite disappointing but this week makes up for it. Really solid episode.

I might be alone in this but there was a real Rebels feel to the episode, especially the interactions between the batch and Rampart and the humour between them really worked for me.

Before talking about the plot, the visuals in this episode were phenomenal - that cloud city shot early on was like a painting and all of the wide shots of a sunny Tantiss were amazing. I loved one small scene where they showed the Vault from above - really really nice. Also the music in the Vault was excellent, I liked it when Omega was trying to escape. I hope they release all the Tantiss music. The Kiner's have done an outstanding job creating almost timeless soundscapes for each episode on Tantiss making each one unique but fit together.

Speaking of Omega, she was quite serious and almost sinister in this episode which was good. Seeing her character adapt from child in the batch to adult in the Vault was realistic. I liked her interactions with Emeri too. The one scientist who was onto her was a little odd cause we've like never seen them before but it made sense - there are going to be jealous scientists who want the job and are going to notice stuff.

With the Batch, I liked the mission. Unlike last week where it felt quite predictable, this time felt more fluid and interesting. There was a logical progression of events rather than just get this person which was nice. Again very rebels vibes with the impersonating. Obviously it is ridiculous when they are able to not only enter a top secret base but then attach onto a secret top security shuttle with ease but it's nothing we haven't seen before in Star Wars.

Overall, I was a big fan of the episode and good to see the plot really moving forward. Fingers crossed next week's episode is another banger.

Kevin Kiner

Warning: Spoilers
The Star Wars soundtrack always has been one of its most iconic trademarks. John Williams with the movies, Ludwig Gorannson with the live action shows and of course the legendary Kevin Kiner with the animated shows. The last two episodes serve as an example for his masterclass art work.

This episode even starts with a loud sound, my soundbar let the floor erupt. Goosebumps from the first second on, not many shows manage to do this.

But throughout the episode it keeps up the quality. Being it the dark, menacing sound of Mount Tantiss or the infamous Bad Batch Theme in a different variation. I wanted this review to focus on this man's precious work. Thank you Kevin Kiner, for everything!

Now to the story. The Bad Batch still tries to get the coordinates to Tantiss with the help of Rampart. They break into an imperial space station and copple their ship on a science freighter that heads toward the secret base.

Meanwhile Omega prepares the kids to escape the facility.

Now everything has been prepared for a great finale, that we will get, I am sure of it. The hype is real!

Home stretch?

Great episode, even better than last week's.

I find it interesting that Rampart has become so prominent all of a sudden. I get that they can't just let the guy go, but I wasn't expecting him to make it even this far in to the mission. It'll be interesting to see how that character is handled. I did love the humor and interactions between him and the Batch.

Also happy to see Echo joining them for this last mission. I mean of course he would. Omega loves that guy.

This episode has set up the finale really well and I'm surprised we aren't just getting BOTH of the final episodes next week. How intense and important will the next episode be? The final moments in this episode were legitimately really intense!

Either way, I'm glad they're finally getting somewhere. I feel like the finale is gonna be really sad and really explosive. I cannot wait.

This works... SOMEHOW

Warning: Spoilers
Yep, another side mission in order to finally find Tantiss because Rampart only knew of a way to find the coordinates, not the actual coordinates. So their plan is to sneak aboard a station in order to find a ship that is leaving for Tantiss and then attach their stolen shuttle to the ship after Echo sneaks aboard and disables the proximate sensors. My major issue with this episode is that ALL of their plan works. Having Rampart pretend that he was demoted to captain is hilarious, especially since he bosses around a lieutenant officer after he questions the bad batch on what division they're apart of due to their armor not being up to code and why they're there, and also two troopers guarding the room they need to get into. Do the low level imperials just not know who Rampart is or the fact that he was stripped of rank and sent to an imperial labor camp? I mean he was a vice admiral after all. How does his story not spread amongst the ranks? And even if they didn't recognize Rampart, shouldn't they report to their ACTUAL commanding officers that a captain that the lieutenant and troopers have never seen before has randomly shown up with three clones and told them off or told them to go to the barracks to receive further instruction despite them just starting their guard duty? Also, the bad batch all "remove" the markings on their armor to look imperial but the only one who actually looks imperial is Crosshair. Echo's looks passable minus the red and Wrecker's doesn't even look scrubbed of markings but I guess that's ok since he stays with the ship. But Hunter? He just removed the markings on his helmet and torso, he very clearly still has teal paint and none of his body armor even matches his helmet except his torso. How was he not immediately spotted and questioned by even just random troopers walking by??

So yeah, they just sneak by everyone and knock out those they couldn't get past easily. Of course they're successful in attaching their shuttle to the ship so they're now heading for Tantiss. The other part of this episode is Omega hatching a plan to escape and bring the other kids with her. We see some other scientist lady annoyed that Emerie keeps Omega with the other kids but I have no idea why. Isn't Omega also a specimen now? Omega also manages to steal some medical tool so she can open the wall to where the kids' blood samples go to get sent to another part of the base in order to use that as their method of escape. As she's breaking open the wall, the scientist lady sees that something is going on so she goes down to the vault to check it out but some how Omega put everything back by the time she gets there.

So yep, it seems like the finale will be the bad batch breaking Omega and the other imprisoned clones out of Tantiss and maybe killing Hemlock and blowing up Tantiss. Maybe they'll send the coordinates to Rex so he can join them but I kinda doubt it. Either way, I can't wait for this series to finally end. I have thoughts on why the finale will probably super unsatisfying but I'll leave that for the future reviews.

The only positives about this episode is seeing Echo in action again and I like the banter between Rampart and the bad batch. That's about it.
