Lacks something that sets it apart

"Sticks & Stones" is an 18-minute short film from 2 years ago. The writer and director is Chloe Dahl, granddaughter of the famous writer Roald Dahl and Oscar-winning actress Patricia Neal. Chloe's mother is also in this short film, playing a minor character. Dahl was only in her early 20s when she made this one, so I'll forgive her for not coming up with something too memorable here. Hopefully she can still step things up as her career progresses. It's a fairly generic coming-of-age story about a couple girls, one in particular. This one, a girl with a Lesbian interest, is played by Danielle Koenig, a young actress who has no other acting jobs listed in her body of work. My attention for this came from the rising star Odeya Rush, however, who plays one of the main characters as well. All in all, a mediocre short film, not totally bad by any means, but also not really worth the watch. Thumbs down.
