The film only costs 50 bucks to make. 35 of that went to the gun that can be seen in the movie poster/
During pre-production, director Aaron Migdon broke the shovel he intended to use for the movie. He reluctantly paid 13 dollars for a new shovel.
The sense of isolation in the film is facilitated by the fact that there was no crew. For some shots of desolation, director Aaron Migdon was the only one around. He said he did this mostly because if there were others present, it would have negatively affected his performance, as he is not an actor. Most of his aggression is real because he was filming in Southern Indiana during a record breaking heatwave. He also had great difficulty holding both the camera and the microphone without it being noticed in the shot.
Some scenes were filmed in Lafayette, Louisiana due to the fact that the director had moved there.
The movie was written, shot, and edited while the director received unemployment from Indiana. He said "it was the closest thing I would ever get to film school." Though only 50 dollars went into the film's budget, the rest went to him watching as many movies as he could afford to watch. He did this to "prepare".
