Best Coast are going on an indefinite hiatus, and principal songwriter Bethany Cosentino is going solo. Today, Cosentino has announced that she’ll be releasing her debut album, Natural Disaster, on July 28th via Concord Records, and has also unveiled the album’s first single, “It’s Fine.”
Since hitting the scene 13 years ago with their seminal debut, Crazy for You, Best Coast have been a mainstay of the reverb-washed, lo-fi-inspired, indie generation. In a statement, Cosentino explained that the time had come for the duo — her and Bobb Bruno — to move onto the next stage of their artistic lives.
“My identity as a human being, and as an artist, has been so wrapped up in Best Coast for over a decade,” she wrote. “The decision to pause the project indefinitely, and explore a new side of myself, was a very difficult one to make — but it felt necessary for me.

In his lifetime, Tracy Marrow has been everything from a dancer and a DJ, to a thief and a weed dealer. Yet, from the minute Marrow became Ice-t, his renown developed and grew.
Initially, being Ice-t meant becoming hip-hop’s most incendiary voice, a sinister avatar of the reality-rap style tagged by the press as “gangster”. Equally famous was Ice-t’s gig as an actor-with-attitude in films such as “New Jack City” and — since 2000 — for television producer Dick Wolf’s police drama “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” as NYPD Detective Odafin Tutuola.
Ice-t brings street cred to everything he does — including commercials. He beams with pride discussing his hood past and how its raw-knuckle spirit remains. Even seeing Ice-t riding a spin cycle, promoting Cheerios and heart health, is hardcore. And it all starts with hip-hop. Despite its current state of musicality being — in his words, “goofy” — Ice-t is...

When it comes to her fashion, however, the TV personality has shown no signs of slowing down her style game.
She took to her Instagram Stories on Friday to share her latest outfit, which was a skintight, pink bodycon dress that hugged every inch of her bump.

Exclusive: Lucifer’s Lesley-Ann Brandt is joining Hulu musical pilot History of a Pleasure Seeker.
The project, which is based on Richard Mason’s novel, is a musical drama set in Amsterdam in 1907 — a tale of a charismatic young man’s explosive adventures through all the temptations of the Belle Époque.
The book, which was published in 2012 by Penguin Random House, follows Piet Barol, who has an instinctive appreciation for pleasure and a gift for finding it. When his mother dies, Piet applies for a job as tutor to the troubled son of Europe’s leading hotelier – a child who refuses to leave his family’s mansion on one of Amsterdam’s grandest canals. As Piet enters this glittering world, he learns its secrets and finds his life transformed.
Brandt will play Jacobina in the project. Powerful, beautiful and always in control, Jacobina has achieved everything her privileged childhood taught her to wish for.

A version of this story about “The Mosquito Coast” first appeared in the Comedy & Drama Series issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
(Note: This story may include spoilers).
Cinematographer Alex Disenhof admits to not being terribly familiar with “The Mosquito Coast” via either Paul Theroux’s 1981 novel or Peter Weir’s 1986 film starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. But for those who have seen any of the episodes to date, it’s a rare case where that is perfectly Ok. “We didn’t really want to use them as jumping off points too much,” Disenhof said. “We wanted to tell our own story, and we were guided by the scripts handed to us.”
Apple’s series, hatched by “Luther” creator Neil Cross, retains the main story of both sources: the Foxes, an American family led by its eccentric, inventor paterfamilias Allie and his more introspective wife Margot (Melissa George), find...
