Guillermo del Toro’s affable smile can win anyone’s heart. Not to mention, his movies as well. The Mexican filmmaker has given us a sleuth of cult classics over the years. Though not one of the most dominating personalities out there, del Toro has quietly sneaked in quite a number of remarkable works over the span of his illustrious career. With three Academy Awards and just as many Golden Globes, there can be no doubt about his impact on the industry. But things could have turned out better if he had chosen another movie over Hellboy 2.

Whether it be anime, movies, or video games, it is a common sight to witness inspiration being taken across many forms of media in one way or the other. The same can be said about Remnant 2, a title that was released last year and seems to take inspiration from one of Guillermo del Toro’s movies which ended up winning 3 Oscars.

As it turns out, a designer for the game has revealed how one of the worlds put in place for the player to explore was inspired by a film that came out back in 2006, Pan’s Labyrinth. He further mentioned a few other movies that were taken as an inspiration to craft the game we know today.

Set dressers organized the scene by setting props in a field for a TV drama about the aftermath of the bombing in Lockerbie starring Colin Firth in Bathgate, Scotland, last week.
The miniseries Lockerbie examines the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. The bombing took 270 lives: 259 of them were on the flight and 11 lives were lost as the wreckage damaged their homes.
Props were set up to look like the aftermath of the bombing. The crew is carrying the parts of the plane parts including seats and parts of a wing.
In 2016, Firth sat down with uInterview to talk about relating to his character, Bill Haydon, in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
When asked about his connection to the character, Firth exclusively told uInterview that, “[Haydon] handles things with great authority and great aplomb, and I’m not saying I am capable of doing that, but I do find those things attractive.

The free domain is opening up so many possibilities, including the opportunity for the mutants of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey to expand into a wider Poohniverse! This new horror cinematic universe will include a slew of crossovers with other totally-not-Disney characters.
Variety is the bearer of this news, whether a blessing or a curse. As a longtime horror writer, I’m all for more low-budget slashers with a gimmick. So, how much of a good thing is too much?
We’ll find out soon, for sure. The Poohniverse includes Tinkerbell, Bambi, The Mad Hatter, and Sleeping Beauty. This massive horror movie version of the MCU will land sometime in 2025.
What’s the overarching storyline of this cavalcade of free-to-use figures? They’re all out to get the survivors of the earlier films (including the ones that are yet to be released).

Winnie The Pooh, Pinocchio, Peter Pan and more are set to appear in Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, a horror film from the makers of Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey. More on the story below.
It’s not exactly a secret that Marvel has been struggling recently with diminishing (but still sizable) box office returns, troubled productions and less-than-great reviews for its films. A more cynical writer might say that it’s about time Marvel was dethroned as the ruler of cinematic universes.
It will certainly face some stiff competition from the makers of Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey, who are now setting up their own cinematic universe.
A new film called Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, has been announced, and is set to be released in 2025 according to Variety. The film will see a team-up between familiar heroes such as Winnie The Pooh, Bambi, Tinkerbell, Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Tigger, Piglet, The Mad Hatter and Sleeping Beauty.

Steven Spielberg has one of the most impressive filmographies that cinema has to offer. But not everyone’s film resume is flawless, including Spielberg’s.

Peter Pan has seen as many adaptations as anyone, they come around every few decades, and every now and again one sticks with a generation for a lifetime. The 1953 Disney original certainly had that, as too did 1991s Hook, the film that stuck with me and my generation. Since then the only other adaption that has stuck was the 2003 adaption. The 2003 adaption was another good entry into the legend of Peter Pan, and like the films before, it hooked onto a generation that still love that film today. When a Peter Pan adaptation is done even half right, it finds itself stuck to a generation, it is perhaps a testament to the story J.M. As Peter Pan fans await “Peter Pan & Wendy,” Hollywood’s latest adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s beloved tale, it may make one wonder just how many times the fictional character’s story has been told. From Broadway plays to televised events to a Robin Williams-led and Stephen Spielberg-directed “Hook,” playing Peter Pan never gets old.
Peter Pan was created by Scottish novelist and playwright J.M. Barries, who crafted the character from several inspirations, which included his personal aversion to adulthood, and a boy named Peter Llewelyn Davies, whom he befriended and later adopted after growing close to his family.
Peter Pan made his first appearance in Barrie’s 1902 novel “The Little White Bird.” The writer then adapted the flying boy’s story into a play titled “Peter Pan, or the Boy Who Would Not Grow Up” in 1904. Peter Pan was then turned into a book in 1911, originally titled “Peter and Wendy,...

Disney continues its streak of live-action adaptations of its most popular animated characters with Peter Pan and Wendy. We have already got Pinocchio, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, The Lion King, Maleficent and many more. Some of them were hits, and some of them weren’t. With more on their release slate and even more in development, it seems that it will do Disney good if they slow down. Pinocchio was a failure. Aladdin and Mulan were also harsh setbacks. Considering that these are all beloved characters that we would love to see on the big screen, Disney needs to be more careful before doing so and not spoil it for us. Peter Pan and Wendy is another not-so-convincing live-action take on the popular children’s character. Other than Jude Law’s rendition of Captain Hook, which is brilliant, the other characters fail to make an impression, especially Alexander Molony’s Peter Pan.

Plot: Wendy Darling, a young girl afraid to leave her childhood home behind, meets Peter Pan, a boy who refuses to grow up. Alongside her brothers and a tiny fairy, Tinker Bell, she travels with Peter to the magical world of Neverland. There, she encounters the evil pirate Captain Hook and embarks on a thrilling and dangerous adventure that will change her life forever.
Review: In their seemingly neverending quest to refresh their animated IP with live-action remakes, Disney thought they would find luck by bringing auteur David Lowery back after his updated take of Pete’s Dragon to tackle a new Peter Pan feature film. Where Lowery imbued Pete’s Dragon, a less familiar title in the overall Disney canon, with realistic characters and emotionally grounded storytelling, his Peter Pan & Wendy is a rote remake that sticks pretty close to the 1953 original. Barrie in his original 1904 play, “Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up,” the century-old name Peter Pan has always been synonymous with a severe case of arrested development. More expressly, the fear of adulthood, the immature reluctance towards embracing the responsibilities and pains of being a grown-up, unable to gauge the earned rewards of such hardships.
So what could a 21st-century version of such arrested development look like? One that has something to say to today’s grown-ups both mesmerized and puzzled by a fiery younger generation vastly different than them, and today’s kids, being raised by an unprecedented sense of individuality? With “Peter Pan & Wendy,” soulful auteur David Lowery tries to find an answer with mixed results that’s fascinating and refreshing in parts and somewhat wearisome on the whole.

Based on Scottish novelist J.M. Barrie’s 1904 play, subsequent self-penned 1911 novelization, and Disney’s classic 1953 animated film, Peter Pan & Wendy finds indie-auteur David Lowery confidently back in big-studio mode. Lowery delivers an exquisitely balanced mix of visual spectacle and grounded, intimate moments, Buttressed by uniformly strong, naturalistic performances from a talented cast, Peter Pan & Wendy should be considered a worthy, worthwhile addition to any streaming diet, especially family-oriented ones. Like practically every iteration with the exception of Steven Spielberg’s justly maligned reimagining (Hook), Peter Pan & Wendy centers on the title characters, Peter Pan (Alexander Molony), the boy who refused to grow up, and Wendy Darling (Ever Anderson), a teen facing major changes who,...

The actor’s full-throated performance as Captain Hook is the most distinctive thing in a passable but unnecessary Disney live-action remake
The increasingly rotten trend of turning classic Disney animations into wretched live-action, or photorealistic, remakes looks set to reach its nadir with next month’s release of The Little Mermaid, already a viral nightmare for its horrifying confirmation that adding lips to both a crab and a fish is indeed a crime against humanity. Its looming ugliness does at least help to make this month’s far more hushed release of the inoffensively fine Peter Pan & Wendy seem dreamy in comparison.
It almost seems foolish at this stage to question the necessity of such a thing, given the crushing commercial inevitability of it, but it’s impossible to watch yet another take on Jm Barrie’s impish hero without wondering why we’re here once again. Unlike so many of Disney’s other remakes,...

The question you may be asking is ‘do we really need yet another take on Peter Pan? Ever since J.M. Barrie published his book “Peter And Wendy” in 1911 there have been countless film, TV, and stage versions of one stripe or another, starting with silents, and of course NBC’s live musical in the 50’s with Mary Martin, and later versions with Sandy Duncan, Cathy Rigby, and just a few years ago another NBC live attempt at it with Allison Williams. Of course there have been big screen spins, neither quite magical, like Joe Wright’s messy 2015 Pan and Spielberg’s overblown Hook with Robin Williams and Julia Roberts. Up to this moment even Broadway has a new Tony contender in the farcical take, Peter Pan Goes Wrong. But for me the one version that resonates the most, to this day, is the Disney 1953 animated feature classic.

In the summer of 2016, writer/director David Lowery pulled off what feels like a magic trick in retrospect: he made a Disney remake that was actually quite good. His take on "Pete's Dragon" may not have set the box office aflame, but his tender approach to a story about an orphaned boy in the forest with only a mammoth dragon for a friend resulted in a low-stakes but wonderful family adventure. Of course, the major reason why "Pete's Dragon" worked so well as a remake is that it eschewed almost everything aside from the aforementioned logline that's present in the 1977 original, from big musical numbers to con-artist bad guys. And "Pete's Dragon" was able to eschew those aspects because while the original has some fans, it's by no means one of Disney's biggest titles.
The same cannot be said for "Peter Pan & Wendy," Lowery's latest Disney remake, this time...

David Lowery's new film "Peter Pan & Wendy" will be the director's second remake of a Disney animated feature and his seventh feature overall. Lowery previously helmed the remake of "Pete's Dragon," where he turned a whimsical fantasy film into an earthier tale of a boy raised in the woods by a dragon slowly re-assimilating into human society. The dragon was amusing in Lowery's movie, but the director seemed far more interested in the inter-human relationships. Finding real human experiences inside of an outlandish, fantastical world may be said to be a common theme in Lowery's work.
This was also an element of his excellent and contemplative film "A Ghost Story," wherein a bedsheet-style ghost slowly reveals what caused it to start haunting in the first place. It was most certainly the central theme of his most recent film, "The Green Knight," an adaptation of the medieval poem about...

The term ‘pan India film’ is quite the rage across the country these days and four leading producers convened at the recently concluded Dakshin South India Media and Entertainment Summit in Chennai to break down the concept.
Organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (Cii), southern region, the theme of the conference this year was Beyond Borders and the pan India discussion fell neatly into that remit.
In recent decades, India has been a patchwork of local cinema markets, defined partly by geography and language group, and with only limited overlap or transfer between them, except for the Bollywood (Hindi-language) segment which enjoys wider releases. Change may now be afoot.
Pan India film is a term usually used for films made in one of the four south Indian languages – Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam – which is dubbed into Hindi and other languages and released across India and in diaspora markets.

Disney's latest live-action riff on a classic is "Peter Pan & Wendy," a new adaptation of the classic "Peter Pan" story. Ever since first taking center stage in J.M. Barrie's 1904 stage play, Peter Pan and the magical land of Neverland have captured imaginations all over the world. The whimsical story with a hint of darkness has inspired plenty of movies, plays, and books over the years, each with a slightly different take on the Boy Who Never Grew Up. Here's a brief look back at all of the notable movie adaptations and how they each made the Neverland mythos their own.

The first authorized movie adaptation of "Peter Pan" was this silent film version, starring Betty Bronson as Peter Pan, Ernest Torrence as Captain Hook, Mary Brian as Wendy Darling, and Virginia Brown Faire as Tinker Bell. J.M. Barrie personally worked on a screenplay for this one,...

By most industry standards, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” is a massive success. Released at a time when theatrical studio movies have underserved the market for family-friendly entertainment, it transforms the most popular family-friendly videogame franchise into a blockbuster hit.
Enlivened by the same cartoonish pizazz that Illumination Entertainment brought to the “Despicable Me” franchise, the new movie finally cracks an elusive code for Nintendo, which has guarded its library for decades in the aftermath of the misbegotten 1993 live action “Mario” movie. And there’s definitely more to come: With its record-breaking $195 million gross across five days, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” sets the stage for a whole new era of Nintendo adaptations.
There’s only one problem: “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” is abysmal, at least to my eyes.

The numerous live-action Disney remakes released over the last decade have been pretty hit-or-miss, with most of them being forgettable at best (and "The Lion King" at worst). The Disney classics are classic in part because of their incredible animation, and trying to make that magic work in live-action can be truly challenging.
The other big challenge with adapting some of Disney's earlier films is that they're often, well, pretty racist. The 1953 film "Peter Pan," based on the plays "Peter Pan; or, the Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up" and "Peter Pan & Wendy" by J.M. Barrie, features an extended sequence where the Lost Boys of Neverland encounter a tribe of Indigenous people, who sing a song about "What Makes the Red Man Red." Almost every racist stereotype about Indigenous people is present, reducing them to caricatures who smoke peace pipes and threaten to burn the Lost Boys. The only one...

Some classic rock lyrics are ionic. Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” gave us one of the most famous lyrics of the 1990s: Here we are now, entertain us.” Kurt Cobain explained the origin of that line. Subsequently, he discussed why his opinion of the song soured over time.

Cara Delevingne Says Concerning Paparazzi Images Led to Rehab Stay, Sobriety Journey: “I Was Not Ok”
Cara Delevingne sparked widespread concern after paparazzi images captured at a private airport in L.A. last September showed the model and actress looking disheveled and acting erratically upon returning from Burning Man. Now, in a revealing cover interview with Vogue, the 30-year-old said she’s grateful for those images because it sent her on a path to rehab and sobriety.
“I hadn’t slept. I was not Ok,” she told Vogue writer Chioma Nnadi. “It’s heartbreaking because I thought I was having fun, but at some point it was like, Ok, I don’t look well. You know, sometimes you need a reality check, so in a way those pictures were something to be grateful for.”
For the interview, conducted in late January, Delevingne confessed that she was four months sober after a stint in rehab late last year. “I’ve had interventions of a sort, but I wasn’t ready.

Disney Plus has released a new trailer for its forthcoming Peter Pan movie.
Peter Pan & Wendy is a forthcoming live-action reimagining of the 1911 Jm Barrie novel and the 1953 animated classic.
It stars Alexander Molony as the mischievous young boy and Ever Anderson as Wendy Darling.
The new trailer – released on Tuesday (28 February) – begins with a distraught Wendy encountering the famous Lost Boys in Neverland.
Fans also get a good look at Black-ish star Yara Shahidi as Tinker Bell, and Jude Law as the villainous role of Captain Hook. The trailer teases action scenes, with plenty of sword fighting and flying.
Viewers, however, are complaining that the trailer looks too dark for a kid’s movie.
“Why is the movie so dark? Where are the colours? It’s Peter Pan, not a funeral,” said one person.
Alongside screenshots of some particularly dark scenes in the film, another added: “David Lowry is a solid director.

Another animated Disney classic is getting the live-action remake treatment and this latest adventure seems genuinely worth getting excited about.
“Peter Pan & Wendy,” which will debut on Disney+ on April 28, hails from co-writer/director David Lowery, the filmmaker behind “The Green Knight” and “The Old Man and the Gun,” and looks to interpolate both the 1953 Disney animated classic and the original J.M. Barrie source material. Watch the trailer above.
Originally announced in 2016, around the time Lowery was releasing his “Pete’s Dragon” remake theatrically, “Peter Pan & Wendy” is arguably the most exciting live-action adaptation of a Disney animated project in some time. The impressive visual sweep presented in the trailer (actual locations!) combined with the nifty modernization of some of the characters and settings, and the very committed cast (led by Jude Law as a snarling Captain Hook) make it seem like “Peter Pan & Wendy” will be a cut above,...

The impressive visual sweep presented in the trailer (actual locations!) combined with the nifty modernization of some of the characters and settings, and the very committed cast (led by Jude Law as a snarling Captain Hook) make it seem like “Peter Pan & Wendy” will be a cut above,...

The first trailer for David Lowery's "Peter Pan and Wendy" is here, and it looks a hell of a lot more interesting than most live-action Disney remakes we've seen in recent years — not to mention most live-action adaptations of the J.M. Barrie classic.
Instead of going the star-studded, CGI-stuffed remake route that has been hit (see: "The Lion King") or miss (see: "Pinocchio") for Disney in recent years, the trailer for "Peter Pan and Wendy" spotlights a cast of young up-and-coming actors and visuals that look about as naturalistic as a story about a boy who can fly can be expected to. Sure, the fact that the first look at this movie doesn't take us to the uncanny valley might be a low bar, but "Peter Pan and Wendy" also has a great filmmaker going for it in "The Green Knight" and "A Ghost Story" director David Lowery.

All the world is made of faith, and trust, and pixie dust in David Lowery’s latest epic.

Per the official synopsis, Wendy Darling (Ever Anderson), a young girl afraid to leave her childhood home behind, meets Peter Pan (Alexander Molony), a boy who refuses to grow up. There, she encounters an evil pirate captain, Captain Hook (Jude Law) and embarks on a thrilling and dangerous adventure that will change her life forever.
The ensemble cast also includes Alyssa Wapanatâhk, Joshua Pickering, Jacobi Jupe, Molly Parker, Alan Tudyk, and Jim Gaffigan. Lowery directed the film using a script he co-wrote with collaborator Toby Halbrooks.

While Disney has no shortage of live-action remakes under their belt (with more to come), Peter Pan & Wendy should be on your radar as it’s helmed by David Lowery, best known for Pete’s Dragon and The Green Knight. In addition to directing, Lowery also penned the screenplay alongside Toby Halbrooks. “In making ‘Peter Pan & Wendy,’ we set out to craft a film that honors both the original J.M. Barrie text and Walt Disney’s animated adaptation,” Lowery said. “We wanted to invigorate our retelling with emotional sincerity, an open heart, and a grand yearning for adventure.
