Season 4, Episode 26

This episode of Sneak Previews has the critics taking a look back at the 1970's to take a look at various classics that were overlooked. What's funny is that the introduction has them saying they're recommending these movies in case they show up at revival houses. Of course, home video wasn't even around at the time. THE LATE SHIFT, William Friedkin's SORCERER, Gene Hackman in NIGHT MOVES, Dustin Hoffman in STRAIGHT TIME, Robert Altman's IMAGES and Martin Scorsese's MEAN STREETS. This is certainly a very entertaining episode and especially with the selections that Siskel and Ebert made. I think it's fair to say that these movies ended up having a life decades later, although I guess STRAIGHT TIME never really caught on like the other five. You can see all of the talent on display and it's interesting to see where their careers went after this episode.
