The one fatal mistake that most TV shows make is using TV cameos gratuitously. If the cameo doesn't mean something to the audience and the characters in the show, it's pointless, and little more than a random Stan Lee Appears gag.
On the other hand, too many shows have fallen into the trap of celebrity worship with their cameos.
Having cast members gawk and gape at their celebrity crush as if to reinforce the celebrity's prestige while doing nothing for the universe we enjoy is a waste of talent.
For this list of the top TV cameos worth celebrating, we will focus on iconic cameo appearances that gave the show some unforgettable moments that made TV history.
Seinfeld Cast, Curb Your Enthusiasm
What better way to give Seinfeld the better ending many feel it deserved than by bringing back the cast and the original set and doing a bit of self-parody?...

On the latest episode of their podcast MeSsy, Christina Applegate and Jamie-Lynn Sigler reflected on their previous struggles with eating disorders.
Applegate recalled that her mother put her in Weight Watchers when she was 15. “She was always competitive,” said the actress about her mom, who had body image issues of her own. “If I got down to 110 [pounds]… she’d be like, ‘Oh! I’m so mad! How’d you do it? How’d you get down to 110?’ And the reason why was because I had an eating disorder.”
The Dead to Me alum said she would eat five almonds in a day and if she had six, she would cry and would refuse to leave her house. “That stuck with me for years and years and years,” she said.

A new report indicates sources in the sports and media world are increasingly convinced the NBA is about to depart TNT.
So will there be a new version of “Roundball Rock,” or will NBC just dust off the John Tesh original starting in 2025? That decision could be on the minds of Comcast executives these days, as they attempt to win a package of NBA rights in the basketball league’s next national broadcasting deal. The company has lodged a $2.5 billion per year bid for a bundle that would include regular season and playoff games, but it has to worry about a challenge from Warner Bros. Discovery, which has been broadcasting NBA games for nearly 35 years. A new report from the Sports Business Journal reveals that NBC is currently in the lead NBA’s third parcel of games, and details how messy the fight between the two contenders just might get.

There are very few comic book writers who have attained the status of ‘legendary’. Comic book enthusiasts unanimously agree one of them is Alan Moore, who took DC comics to its heights during the 80s and 90s. He revived a number of forgotten supernatural characters, especially through his run with Swamp Thing, such as Spectre, the Demon, the Phantom Stranger, Deadman, and introduced John Constantine.
Watchmen by Alan Moore
Moore’s contribution to the comic book world is immense, and being an industry expert for decades, he knows all the ins and outs. He understands how times have changed, and how several concepts that worked before won’t work today.

“The Sopranos” fans got thrown a curveball in 2021 when Edie Falco revealed for the first time on an Atlantic podcast that she once reunited with James Gandolfini to reprise Tony and Carmela Soprano for a bizarre clip set two years after the events of the series finale, which infamously ended with a cut-to-black that left Tony’s fate in the balance. The purpose of the clip was to help the New York Knicks basketball organization lure LeBron James to the team.
Gandolfini and Falco shot the “Sopranos” reunion in 2010 as James was becoming a free agent after his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers expired. All of the top teams in the NBA wanted James, and the Knicks came up with the idea to make a short film with “The Sopranos” stars to help sell James on the Big Apple. All due respect to "Shasta McNasty," but David Chase's "The Sopranos" is easily the most important television show of the last 25 years. The series about a New Jersey mobster whose worsening anxiety, brought on by the dueling stressors of work and family, forces him into therapy was an instant pop cultural sensation when it debuted January 10, 1999 on HBO (beating Harold Ramis' similarly themed "Analyze This" to release by a mere month). After around 70 years of gangster movies and television shows, we knew these guys operated in high-pressure environments; we just never considered they might see a shrink to deal with it.
Of course, a clever concept only gets you so far, something Chase — a veteran TV writer with Primetime Emmy-nominated credits on "The Rockford Files," "I'll Fly Away" and "Northern Exposure" — clearly understood. Go back and watch the first few episodes of "The Sopranos," and you'll be amazed at...

Premiering 25 years ago this January, David Chase’s crime saga The Sopranos has been a blessing and a curse for the creator. On the former side, he was behind what is still among the greatest television shows to grace the medium. On the latter, it’s been a difficult peak to live up to, the only projects he’s tackled since being his overlooked 2012 directorial debut Not Fade Away and revisiting the world in the disappointing The Many Saints of Newark, which he co-wrote and produced.
Now, Chase is finally getting back in the director’s chair for the first time in 13 years with a new feature: Deadline reports he’ll reteam with his Sopranos collaborator Terence Winter on a horror film at New Line Cinema. Chase has directing duties for the WB project, boasting a script he’ll write with Winter, marking the first time the duo have collaborated on a feature screenplay.

The live-action movies based on comic book storylines or animated characters are either hugely successful or a massive disappointment as we have witnessed in the recent adaptations. It seems like we’re all set to witness another adaptation of a very popular cartoon character, as it was recently announced that Michael Caleo is allegedly working on a live-action adaptation of Popeye the Sailor Man.
Popeye the Sailor Man Popeye the Sailor Man is getting another live-action after 40 years
Popeye is one of the most popular cartoon characters the world has ever seen and many generations grew up watching the animated series based on the popular sailor man who gained superhuman strength by eating Spinach. The character even celebrated its 95th anniversary earlier this year as it was first released in the 1929 comic Thimble Theater.

The late, great James Gandolfini began acting in the early 1980s, but it was "The Sopranos" that made him a star. And it was a stardom that seemingly always made the performer uncomfortable. Up until his big break on the HBO series, Gandolfini appeared as small supporting characters in films like "True Romance" and "Get Shorty." It was the role of Tony Soprano that launched him into a kind of superstardom. Gandolfini was so good as troubled mob boss Tony Soprano that it was almost scary; he fully embodied the character, and seemingly everything he did with the part — be it raising his voice or simply, and quietly, raising his eyebrows — became something to obsess over. We are worse off without him around, continuing to deliver memorable roles (Gandolfini died in 2013 at the far-too-young age of 51).

Long before the so-called "golden age of TV" arrived, "The Sopranos" seemed to hint at what was in store for the small screen. The groundbreaking show suggested what today seems axiomatic: that TV could be just as compelling, contain just as much tight storytelling, and feel just as premium as any movie. As far as television dramas go, "The Sopranos" set a standard that few series, even today, manage to meet.
Still, not everything the writers did was met with unanimous praise. The legacy of "The Sopranos" wasn't exactly sullied by what is surely one of the most divisive endings in TV history, but that infamous fade-to-black left some fans feeling let down by a series that never shied away from depicting the brutality of mob life. Put simply, you never really knew who was going to be offed from episode to episode, and while killing off characters on "The Sopranos...

To know Michael Kassan is to know the people in his Rolodex. At least, that’s the promise.
The Madison Avenue impresario, who once ran a media-buying operation and parlayed his experience there into a role as the ultimate go-between among ad agencies, big-spending clients and the media outlets that crave them, finds himself — at least for now — without a base of operations.
In an explosive arbitration filing that surfaced Tuesday, Kassan alleged UTA, which snatched up his marketing consultancy, MediaLink, for $125 million in late 2021, had undermined the business since his arrival. Executives including UTA CEO Jeremy Zimmer and the newly-christened New York chief Julian Jacobs “secretly concocted a scheme,” Kassan’s attorneys alleged, that siloed off MediaLink from the rest of UTA’s business with advertisers and marketers, then pressured Kassan to cut costs and raise fees on existing clients. “After two long years of Kassan battling Zimmer’s repeated broken promises,...

Fallout has been prevalent in the video game industry, and for good reason, because the intricate details that the game got right about its setting were most undoubtedly appreciable. Recently, many video games have been adapted into other forms of media, and Fallout is the latest.
Previous video game adaptations, like The Last of Us, have been immensely successful, and the upcoming TV show based on Bethesda’s RPG series seems promising, too. A lucky Sopranos fan shelled out over $82,000 for the booth from Tony Soprano’s last supper.
The owners of Broomfield, NJ ice cream parlor Holsten’s put the booth featured in the hit HBO series’ 2007 finale up for auction last Wednesday, as the 88-year-old shop is being remodeled. After four days on eBay, the bidding war closed at $82,600 on Monday.
The winner doesn’t just get the table and seats—for the hefty price, they receive the divider wall, which features a plaque that reads, “This booth reserved for the Soprano family.” The tabletop jukebox used in the scene is unfortunately not included.
Holsten’s announced the auction on Instagram last week, writing, “The time has come. All good things sometimes need an upgrade. The famous Sopranos booth is getting a much needed face-lift. We are auctioning off the well endeared booth on eBay starting today.”

Just when he thought he was out, they pulled him back in.
Emmy-winning writer Terence Winter is returning to Tulsa King.
The Sopranos veteran is back on board the Paramount+ drama after being the showrunner of its 2022 debut season. The series follows a former mobster, played by Sylvester Stallone, who forms a new crime empire in Oklahoma.
Winter and Tulsa King‘s creator and executive producer Taylor Sheridan famously conflicted about the creative direction of the series. After Winter stepped away, the big question became who was going to take over his gig, given Sheridan’s self-professed preference for remaining hands-on with his shows. Stallone, likewise, has firm opinions about the writing in his projects — having written and co-written the screenplays for many of his hit films over the years — and claims some of the show’s dialogue was his own creation.
But Tulsa King now has a writers room...

TV shows and series are something of a hot trend that has emerged in recent times as the go-to form of entertainment for the younger generation, which thanks to streaming and Ott platforms, has also affected old yet well-remembered silver screen projects. Among them. The Sopranos has proved itself to be one of the most popular with an almost cult-like following of audience members and fans alike.
A still from The Sopranos
Despite the success that this almost 25-year-old show has witnessed ever since entering the streaming domain and even before then, it seems like lead actress Drea de Matteo was unable to maintain her career as an actress in the industry, which is why she turned to making content for OnlyFans. But despite the negative connotation that’s associated with this service, the actress reveals that she’s grateful for this platform as it helped her earn a livelihood.

The Sopranos fans were shocked when Drea de Matteo joined OnlyFans last year, but the actress has credited the choice with helping to save her home from going into foreclosure.
“It saved us,” Drea de Matteo told The Daily Mail. “OnlyFans saved my life, 100 percent. I can’t believe I’m saying that, but it really did save us. Anybody that wants to condemn me and put me down, go for it. I just hope you never find yourself in the position I was in to take care of two little kids. It saved my home of many years that was very important to us.” She added that it just took five minutes before she had enough money to “pay back compass real estate who kept the sale of my house.“

The Sopranos series finale is one of the most heavily-scrutinized bits of media ever produced. When Tony Soprano’s story abruptly cut to black mid-“Don’t Stop Believin'” viewers had no choice but to analyze what they just saw.
Did the Members Only jacket guy shoot Tony? Did he choke on a Holsten’s onion ring? Was this all a dream? Though creator David Chase has obliquely discussed the true nature of the final scene over the years, we’ll never know what actually happened by the finale’s own design. And that’s why people continue to watch it, consider it, and debate it even to this day.
And yet, even with all the ink already spilled trying to dissect The Sopranos finale, there’s one fascinating detail that everyone missed … everyone but one person at least. In a 2015 interview with fellow actor Alan Cumming for this Remember That Time series,...

Two-time Oscar winner Michael Douglas takes on the titular role in Apple TV+’s Franklin, a limited series based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, and the Birth of America by Stacy Schiff. (So glad they shortened the series’ title!) The streaming service just released the first two photos of Douglas in character as Founding Father Benjamin Franklin and announced the series will premiere on April 12, 2024.
The first three episodes will be released simultaneously, followed by a new episode of the eight-episode season every Friday. The finale is set for May 17th.
Joining Michael Douglas for the historical biopic are Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place Part II) as Temple Franklin, Thibault de Montalembert (Call My Agent!) as Comte de Vergennes, and Daniel Mays (Line of Duty) as Edward Bancroft. Ludivine Sagnier (Lupin) plays Madame Brillon,...

Depending on how you look at it, “Ponyboi” is either a Trojan horse for exploring nonbinary gender identity or a hackneyed crime movie with a radically unorthodox queer protagonist. Either way, it’s a sordid yet stylish showcase for intersex actor (and activist) River Gallo, who uses “they/them” pronouns and sees the project as an opportunity to educate audiences about the social and psychological aspects of exhibiting both male and female traits in a world that classifies people in one box or the other.
It’s ironic therefore that, apart from Gallo’s category-defying title character, the rest of the ensemble is populated by such familiar stereotypes. Sparkling like a rhinestone in the rough, Ponyboi stands out amid a lineup of cartoon gangsters, tough-guy dealers and gum-smacking prostitutes — lowlifes recycled from a hundred late-night cable movies with superficially similar plots.
Still, cinema history is short on anyone remotely like Gallo,...

Season 14 of Real Housewives of New Jersey is proving to be a doozy, and the episodes have yet to air. Jennifer Aydin and Teresa Giudice believe her wedding was the “rose” of the series last season, while the rest of the cast has other ideas as the new season commences.
Teresa Giudice and Jennifer Aydin agree her wedding was the best part of season 13
At the close of season 13 of Real Housewives of New Jersey, the cast was on opposite sides of the table regarding specific issues. The conflict between Melissa Gorga and Teresa Giudice came to a head as the women vowed not to speak to one another again.
Lines were drawn in the sand, and some cast members aligned with the women while others tried to remain neutral. As always Jennifer Aydin stuck close to Giudice as a bridesmaid at her wedding and a close friend.

Recently, HBO celebrated the 25th anniversary of The Sopranos by posting episode recaps on TikTok. However, this doesn’t seem to be the biggest problem of modern day TV, according to the show’s creator. David Chase, the creative mind behind the highly acclaimed, much beloved HBO mob series, thinks something is dying in the current days of scripted television. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Chase’s attitude toward the show’s anniversary is a lot more somber than celebratory. Chase spoke with The Times U.K., where he insists that the anniversary is more of “a funeral.”
Chase explained that the inclusion of ads on streaming platforms is just cycling back to regular television. “We’re going back to where I was. They’re going to have commercials [on streamers like Prime Video].” Chase continued that he had recently pitched an idea he had for a series, which would chronicle the life of...

The 75th Primetime Emmys was a somewhat predictable affair, with "Succession," "The Bear" and "Beef" winning nearly everything, but there was one creative choice that made it stand clearly above the Emmys of the past few years. The theme this time around was honoring the most beloved shows in TV history, which made for a far more interesting transition between awards than the usual random comedy schticks.
This year included the reunion of Jon Cryer and Holland Taylor from "Two and a Half Men," a speech from Arsenio Hall of "The Arsenio Hall Show," and another speech by Carol Burnett from "The Carol Burnett Show." Airing just five days after we marked 25 years since The Sopranos premiered on HBO, series’ Lorraine Bracco and Michael Imperioli marked the anniversary at the 75th Emmy Awards.
“Speaking for Michael, myself and the entire cast and crew, it was an honor working with Sopranos creator David Chase and of course, the great James Gandolfini,” choked-up Bracco said to a thunderous applause.
Bracco and Imperioli were standing in a replica of the therapist office from The Sopranos where Gandolfini’s Tony Soprano and Bracco’s Dr. Melfi held their sessions. A photo of the late Gandolfini was on the table.
“The moment Tony Soprano walked into this [office], doing the unthinkable, sharing his feelings with Dr. Melfi, television history was about to be made,” Emmy host Anthony Anderson said in introducing the segment.

Audiences love nostalgia, and TV networks know people will tune in to see their favorite ensembles reunited. Through its six-season run, classic HBO drama The Sopranos featured several unexpected cameos from real life celebrities. These included: director Jon Favreau, actor Ben Kingsley, and most hilariously: New York Jets head coach Eric “Man-genius” Mangini.
Of all the celebrity cameos on The Sopranos, however, none hit quite as hard as actress Annette Bening’s brief appearance in the season 5 episode “The Test Dream.” Bening, who is one of the most accomplished performers of her era, kindly stopped by to film a couple of scenes for the 20-minute dream sequence that Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) experiences for much of the episode’s runtime. It’s such a bold, out of left field casting decision that even nearly 20 years later it still stands out.
Bening talked about filming the episode with The Daily Beast in 2020, saying:

Photograph by Courtesy of HBO It was 25 years ago that the world was first introduced to The Sopranos, the HBO show that would become the most popular mob-themed piece of entertainment since The Godfather movies. It wound up running for six seasons, winning 21 Primetime Emmy Awards and, at its peak, reaching an audience of 11 million viewers each week. The late James Gandolfini, of course, starred as Tony Soprano; we were able to speak with about the show over the years, and while so much of the reaction to the show was positive, Gandolfini was always perplexed by the occasional criticism that The Sopranos made mafia life look like too much fun. As is said with JFK, no American will ever forget where they were, or what they were doing, when Tony Soprano was shot in the series finale of The Sopranos. Recall is easier in the case of Tony, as every single witness was doing exactly the same thing at the time of his assassination: getting ready to kick their TVs into a million pieces.
The strange thing is that little of the raw emotion stirred up by the finale was connected with the actual assassination of Tony Soprano. Hardly anyone flinched, raged, gasped, or wept for the terminated mafioso. Do you know why? Because hardly anyone – myself included – even knew that it had happened. Over a million witnesses to a murder, and not one of them could give a credible statement or offer reliable testimony. Now that, my friends, is the definition of a perfect mafia hit.
It begs the question,...

In honor of the milestone, Max is treating fans to some never-before-seen content, fan screenings, official pop-ups, and more. “The Sopranos left an indelible imprint on the global entertainment culture and was instrumental in defining HBO as the destination for groundbreaking, award-winning programming,” said Zach Enterlin, Executive Vice President, Brand, Content & Creative, Streaming Marketing, HBO and Max. “The many ways we will honor this 25-year milestone will allow fans to celebrate the Soprano legacy and pay tribute to the characters that have had such an enduring impact.” The festivities begin now with a newly launched in-app Sopranos 25th Anniversary collection on Max, featuring 15 deleted scenes, three of which have never been released to the public. It also includes over five hours of behind-the-scenes featurette content. Additionally, every season is readily available to stream on Max at any time.
