Before his career went down the rabbit hole of utter destruction and Jonathan Majors was redacted from the industry’s hotlist of prime actors, Marvel felt blessed to score an actor who could pull off one of the biggest and most mysterious roles assigned in its long and illustrious history.
Despite the novelty of playing the next Big Bad of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Jonathan Majors had been very methodical and studious in his role as Kang. With a fine debut in Loki, Majors created an aura of as much adoration and praise as was deserving of an actor of his caliber.

Jonathan Majors’ Kang was supposed to be the big antagonist in the upcoming Avengers films and the climactic antagonist for the ‘Multiversal Saga’ of the MCU. However, the actor was dropped from future Marvel projects due to his legal troubles and eventual sentencing after being accused of assault.
The actor made his MCU debut with the Disney Plus series Loki, where he was introduced as He Who Remains, the protector of the Sacred Timeline. He also made an appearance in the box office disaster Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and was regarded as the best part of the film. Majors had mentioned his technique to get into character, which included a curated playlist that got the energy of the role right.

While Steven Spielberg might hail superhero movies as Oscar-worthy, the likes of Martin Scorsese and Anthony Hopkins have gone on to criticize Marvel and DC flicks and even deemed them not cinema-worthy. Although each actor has a right to have their own opinions regarding different genres of cinema, fans have disliked how big names in Hollywood have time and again belittled superhero flicks and the actors who work in them.
Anthony Hopkins did not like acting in the MCU (Image: Thor)
Over the years, fans have waged war against such opinions, and comic book actors have defended such movies. And now, even Walton Goggins has joined them after Ray Winstone recently called out the excessive use of green screens in superhero flicks.

What Happened To The MCU?
This… well, this used to be one of the most reliable franchises in Hollywood, and now it’s not.
Let us explain.
For over a decade, it felt like the Marvel Cinematic Universe was on top of the world. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige and his rotating crew of filmmakers churned out one hit after another, with each new movie in the MCU guaranteed to be one of the biggest of the year.
So what went wrong?
After what might be the most significant event in cinema history — Avengers: Endgame — the Marvel Cinematic Universe was primed for a reset. Many of the old characters were out, passing the baton to some new faces.

The lineup for the 77th Cannes Film Festival has officially been unveiled. As of right now, 19 films will be competing for the prestigious top prize, the Palme d’Or. The festival will be running from May 14 through the closing ceremony on May 25 in the small town on the French Riviera. This year’s jury will be led by Greta Gerwig, fresh off of her success writing and directing “Barbie,” which earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. The remaining members of the jury have yet to be announced.
Having an idea of a filmmaker’s history at the festival can sometimes help give us an insight as to who could be in the best position to take home the Palme. For example, two of this year’s entries come from filmmakers who have previously claimed the Palme. Another five are from directors who have won prizes in official...

We’re shrinking down once again, and as Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania comes to streaming, it’s time to look back at the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s divisive Phase 5 debut. Paul Rudd’s pint-sized hero joins Og Avengers Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor in the exclusive trilogy club, while boosting the Multiverse Saga forward.
Despite Quantumania putting the pieces in place for the franchise-shattering Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors), some argue you could’ve skipped the end without missing much – apart from Modok’s CGI butt. Whispers from behind the scenes suggest the ending was reshot in something of a hurry, and although it seems like an odd decision to make, there’s a wild theory that this alternate ending is here for a specific reason.

Jonathan Majors has commented on Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s disappointing critical reception.
Majors stars as the villain, Kang the Conqueror, in the Paul Rudd-starring Marvel franchise’s third instalment.
Since its 17 February release, Quantumania’s dismal reviews have made it Rotten Tomatoes’ lowest-scoring sequel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
It currently stands at just 47 per cent on the popular review aggregation site – now level with the lowest-scoring Marvel movie ever: Chloe Zhao’s 2021 ensemble feature, Eternals.
Majors was asked about his take on the film’s poor reception on IndieWire’s “Screen Talk” podcast this week.
“It doesn’t change how I see myself. Period. It’s all data,” Majors said.
“I’m a performance within a story. One thing I will say to my team as we’re leaving a premiere if they’re reading reviews, I’ll say, ‘How’s the movie doing?...

Earlier this month, Sony Pictures and 21 Laps – the production company behind the hit Netflix series Stranger Things – came out the winners in a competitive bidding situation over the feature film rights to the horror short film Gnomes, which was directed by Ruwan Suresh Heggelman from a script he crafted with Jasper ten Hoor and Richard Raaphorst. Heggelman will be directing the feature, but Deadline reports that Sony and 21 Laps have hired an established Hollywood screenwriting duo to write the script this time around. Those writers are Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, whose previous credits include Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp and the Hulu thriller No Exit. Barrer also wrote the 2013 horror film Haunt, on which Ferrari served as an executive producer.
In addition to co-writing the script for the short version of Gnomes, Raaphorst also produced the film. He’s on board to produce the feature version alongside 21 Laps’ Shawn Levy,...

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is an enigma—a wild swing from Marvel Studios that has put an almost inordinate amount of pressure on director Peyton Reed’s shoulders. Not only has the filmmaker been tasked with delivering a serious, tone-changing sequel to two of the MCU’s funniest (and arguably most overlooked) movies, but also launching the next phase in the Multiverse Saga by introducing a new Thanos-level threat to mass audiences. Considering how much is on the line, it’s no exaggeration to call Quantumania the most important Marvel movie since Avengers: Endgame. Not bad for the little guy…

This post contains mild spoilers for "Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania."
Michelle Pfeiffer is a national treasure. Finding out that she was playing Janet van Dyne in 2018's "Ant-Man and The Wasp" was a revelation. Although she was a pivotal part of that film, she wasn't the focus. In the upcoming movie, "Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania," Pfeiffer's Janet gets a far bigger role, and we find out more (as you can see from the trailers) about her 30 years in the quantum realm.
What we've already seen of the realm is fascinating, with giant tardigrades and weird rock and plant formations. In "Quantumania," we'll also learn about not only the people who live there -- including Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) -- but the other denizens of this world beneath ours. Janet hasn't been telling her family everything about her adventures, you see, but she no longer has any choice...

The first reactions to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania are in following the Marvel movie’s Monday night world premiere, with many citing its weirdness and saying Jonathan Majors steals the show.
Our own JimmyO called Quantumania the best of the Ant-Man movies, tweeting it’s “a beautiful and wildly entertaining flick” that boasts “a great balance of humor, visual effects, and thrills.” He also hit on what looks to be one of the most compelling elements of the movie: the relationship between Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton).

You’ve got big dreams. You want Marvel. Well, Marvel costs. And right here is where you start paying: in sweat 2023 theater tickets and Disney+ subscription fees.
With a divisive Phase 4 of the MCU wrapped and shipped, it’s almost time to clap our eyes on the first of Marvel Studios’ Phase 5 entries: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Paul Rudd reprises his role as the little guy who could, Scott Lang, in a threequel that appears to be taking a tonal diversion. Where both 2015’s Ant-Man and 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp were fun, family-friendly capers that Marvel was happy to churn out despite their relatively low box office payoff, Ant-Man 3 has the Quantum Realm on its shoulders as it kicks off a serious and deadly new dynasty. It’s also handling the job of properly introducing Phase 5 and 6’s big bad: Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors).

Exclusive: Having rallied in recent months against censorship-advocating Republican politicians and the loss of abortion rights in America, Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider is going back to the past to spotlight our potential future.
The heavy metal lead singer has teamed with Magilla Entertainment for a documentary series about the efforts of Tipper Gore and the Parents Music Resource Center 37 years ago to excise so-called obscene music. Confounding all expectations, Snider appeared with Frank Zappa and John Denver before a Senate committee in 1985 and proved a compelling and insightful advocate for freedom of expression and creative license.

“In a Marvel Interview, David Tennant said he thought Ant-Man would cry at the book The Fault In Our Stars. In Ant Man and The Wasp (2018), Scott is seen crying whilst reading it near the film’s beginning,” they shared in the caption.

August is coming, and Disney Plus is set to bolster its line-up with three new additions to its ever-expanding streaming library of superhero adventures.
Most interesting is Ant-Man and the Wasp. Sure, the Ant-Man movies feature smaller-scale adventures than other superhero films, but doesn’t mean they’re any less important to the overall McU plot. In Avengers: Endgame, Pym Particles and the Quantum Realm became the key to reversing Thanos’ snap, and they’re established and explained in this movie.
Even so, the adventures of Scott Lang have been some of the lowest-grossing efforts in the McU’s history. Listing the 23 McU movies in order of box office performance, Ant-Man comes in at number 20 and Ant-Man and the Wasp at 18. That doesn’t mean they were flops, just that they’re more likely to be the McU films that audiences haven’t seen yet. That might change on August...

Paul Rudd is the star of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s smallest franchise in more ways than one, with the two Ant-Man movies so far offering a much narrower focus than the studio’s usual formula of having their title heroes stop an evil plan that has the fate of the world at stake.
The character’s standalone outings have so far largely been confined to a single location and featured villains that the rest of the Avengers wouldn’t get out of bed for, meaning that they also don’t require the same level of investment, either. The first Ant-Man is the cheapest movie that Marvel Studios has ever made, and as a result, they aren’t under pressure to deliver the typical box office numbers associated with the McU.

Last November’s launch of Disney Plus has altered the streaming landscape quite significantly. Many Disney films that had found a home on other platforms have been slowly but surely migrating to their permanent residence on the new service, and among those many titles are a number of Star Wars flicks and most of the output of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (McU).
Perhaps the most substantial blow though has come to the world’s most popular streaming platform, Netflix. With licensing deals running out for the service, it was only a matter of time before all of those Marvel films finally left for Disney Plus, and we’re now down to the final couple of remaining titles: Avengers: Infinity War will be lost this week, and Ant-Man and the Wasp will follow suit on July 28th.

All we know about Ant-Man 3 so far is that a third solo adventure for the McU’s smallest superhero is definitely happening, with director Peyton Reed officially signing on to return late last year. Marvel Studios haven’t even staked out a release date yet though, with shooting not expected to begin until 2021 and the third installment widely thought to form part of the superhero franchise’s Phase Five.
While we don’t have any plot details as of yet, the vast majority of the major players are expected to return, with Michael Douglas recently confirming his involvement. That being said, Michael Pena has cast some doubt on his role in the movie, despite the fact that it would be foolish for his scene-stealing Luis not to feature prominently.

McU star Evangeline Lilly’s dismissive comments about the coronavirus outbreak have caused a major controversy online, with the actress’ troubling attitude towards self-isolating and shocking belief that the pandemic is just a hoax riling up fans, with many demanding that Marvel remove her from the franchise at once. While they won’t be doing that – at least, not yet – due to contractual obligations, we have heard the studio will be reducing her role in Ant-Man 3.
According to sources close to Wgtc – the same ones who told us Ahsoka Tano will cameo in The Mandalorian season 2 and Han will return to the Fast & Furious franchise, both of which were correct – Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne will no longer be the threequel’s co-lead, which will require some reworking of the proposed storyline. Nobody likes wasps. They’re annoying creatures that contribute little of worth to the world. And now, nobody likes the Wasp.
Evangeline Lilly has spent the last week saying increasingly silly things about the Coronavirus pandemic. She first raised hackles when she posted on Instagram that she wasn’t observing social distancing and that life was still #businessasusual for her. That was already pretty annoying, but then she added insult to injury by saying that the pandemic was overblown and hinted that it might be some kind of hoax.
To people conscientiously following social distancing guidelines and imposing restrictions on their lives, let alone those who have lost loved ones to this pandemic, this was equivalent to her spitting in everyone’s faces. And with that came demands for Marvel Studios to fire her.
However, she still has at least one film remaining on her contract, with Ant-Man 3 scheduled...

Sam Wilson will step up to become the next Captain America in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, following Steve Rogers handing him the shield in Avengers: Endgame. However, it won’t be plain sailing for him as the government will give another shield to John Walker and proclaim him the true next Cap. It’s possible the legacy of the Sentinel of Liberty will be complicated further over on a completely separate Disney Plus series, too. Namely, WandaVision.
While speaking with The Daily Beast, star Anthony Mackie was asked about training with the shield for the Falcon show, and his answer revealed an unexpected tidbit about an additional shield he’d spotted on the set of Wv, starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany.
“The funny thing about the shield training is, I feel like everyone has had shield training. I went by WandaVision, and there was a random shield.

Earning two Oscar nominations today, for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Picture, Jojo Rabbit director Taika Waititi isn’t one to rest on his laurels. The singular writer/director has already completed production on his next feature, Next Goal Wins, with Thor: Love and Thunder also on the way.
“With the Thor film, I can’t share much, for obvious reasons. We’re going to be writing all the way up until we shoot, and then throughout the shoot. But with Next Goal Wins, it’s one of the happiest shoots I’ve ever been on. It’s a 99% Polynesian cast; Michael Fassbender is a comic revelation,” Waititi told Deadline today. “I think he should just stop doing dramas from now on because he’s so funny, and so good at improvising. To me, it was a real revelation.”
For Waititi, seeing Jojo Rabbit rack up six Oscar nominations today felt like a full-circle moment.

Superheroes have been super strong in the film stunt ensemble category at the Screen Actors Guild Awards the past two years, and it appears that will continue with the biggest superhero flick of all time.
“Avengers: Endgame” currently leads our stunt ensemble odds and would be the third straight superhero blockbuster to win the prize, joining “Wonder Woman” (2017) and its Marvel Cinematic Universe brethren “Black Panther” (2018). Believe it or not, “Black Panther” was the first movie in the McU’s then-20-film saga to win stunt ensemble following previous bids for “Iron Man” (2008), “Captain America: Civil War” (2016) and “Doctor Strange” (2016). “Black Panther” beat “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” which marked the first time three McU films were in the category.

For a while, it looked like Paul Rudd might have made his last solo appearance in the McU. Neither Ant-Man nor Ant-Man and The Wasp were huge successes at the box office and Scott Lang’s story was largely resolved in Avengers: Endgame. But last month we got surprise confirmation that Ant-Man 3 is indeed coming. It’ll be directed by Peyton Reed and will probably hit cinemas sometime in 2022. Better yet, though, is that it could introduce a fan favorite antagonist, too.

Peyton Reed has signed on to direct the third installment of Disney/Marvel’s Ant-Man franchise, Deadline has confirmed, which will now join sequels to Black Panther, Doctor Strange and Thor on the Marvel Cinematic Universe production runway.
Reed directed both previous films in the series that stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man. The first Ant-Man grossed $519.3 million worldwide in 2015, with Ant-Man and the Wasp following last summer grossing $622.7 million, making a third movie an easy call. Rudd is also expected to return.
There’s no timetable for production starts or release dates, though Disney and Marvel have plotted out some untitled dates into the mid-2020s.

Warning: Big spoilers for Avengers: Endgame to follow.
Avengers: Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely recently sat down for an interview with The New York Times about their recent box office smash, and in addition to reflecting on the legacy left behind by the Avengers franchise, the pair were game to discuss two fairly divisive moments from the most recent film: Black Widow's exit and that lady superhero team-up moment.
The first, the unexpected death of Natasha "Nat" Romanoff (aka Black Widow) , takes place earlier on in the film. After the remaining Avengers realize that they need to travel back in time and retrieve the Infinity Stones before Thanos does, Nat and Clint (aka Hawkeye) are tasked with journeying to retrieve the Soul Stone on the planet Vormir. What they don't realize until they arrive is that in order to take it with them, they need to trade "a soul for a soul.

Marvel Studios recently dropped a shedload of new character posters for Avengers: Endgame. What was interesting about them was that while the marketing for the movie has mostly focused on the heroes who are still around to take on Thanos, these one-sheets placed a big focus on those who perished in the snap, with the studio giving each deceased character their very own black and white design.
To recap, those who were wiped out by the Mad Titan in the Decimation at the end of Avengers: Infinity War were Spider-Man, Shuri, Drax, Bucky, Wasp, Groot, Nick Fury, Loki, Scarlet Witch, Mantis, Vision, Gamora, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Star-Lord and Falcon. You can see them all for yourself in the gallery down below, but it seems that Marvel forgot about one important person who Thanos’ snap also took away from us: Dr. Erik Selvig.

Updated with top film figures: IMAX has set itself a new milestone, crossing $1B at the 2018 worldwide box office. This is the first time in the company’s 50-year history that it has reached the benchmark. The group’s global tally, expected to be $1.002B by the end of today, was driven primarily by Hollywood blockbusters, but also includes another IMAX record with local-language pics accounting for more than $100M of the total.
Disney/Marvel movies lead the Hollywood pack with Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther the Nos. 1 and 2 earners. Warner Bros/DC’s Aquaman, currently at No. 6, is still in play and should reach No. 4 by December 31. On the local-language side, eight of the major titles hail from China, a market that regularly throws off strong returns for the large-format outfit. They include Operation Red Sea, Detective Chinatown 2 and Dying To Survive. (See below for the full Top 10 lists.

If you’ve been paying attention, then you probably know of how David Dastmalchian has become one of the more prolific actors in the superhero genre. Already, he’s added The Dark Knight, Gotham, The Flash and Ant-Man and the Wasp to his resume, so it’d be unwise to assume he’s putting it all behind him.
Speaking of which, it’s beginning to sound like we’ll soon see his return to present day Central City, as a reprisal of the Abra Kadabra role may very well be in the cards. Having been absent ever since giving Team Flash headaches in season 3, one could say the time is right for a comeback.
On that note, here’s what Dastmalchian had to say in a recent interview with ComicBook.com:
“You know The Flash is creeping up on their 100th episode soon and I think that Abracadabra should show...
