Wow amazing! (No spoilers)
Brycewebb24729 April 2014
Was able to see this episode early and WOW was I impressed. Lorne Malvo is one of the best t.v characters ever. This episode literally blew my mind. So much character development occurs in this episode and we really start to see the true colours of all the characters. I truly do not know where the show will go from here but I'm sure it will be amazing. I adore this episode, without over exaggerating, it is really, really, really, REALLY spectacular. I really hope that this show continues throw seasons on end because without this show in my life it just would not be the same. I want to spend many seasons following these phenomenal characters and journeying through such a surreal and beautiful fictional universe.

No Shortage of Psychotics
Hitchcoc5 October 2015
Lorne is crazier than ever. He grabs and accountant, pulls him out of his building by his necktie as everyone looks on. His face is now on security footage. Meanwhile, Lester continues to have a bullet in his wrist and, while at work, the guys that dumped a man in an ice fishing hole show up. They are threatening, but he has no idea why they are there. Molly shows up and everything is at a standstill for a while. Lester knows that he is in trouble from outside forces. Meanwhile, Gus Grimley, the Duluth cop, is filled with guilt for letting Lorne go after a traffic stop. Lorne threatened him and he backed off to save his skin. When his superiors hear of this, they are ready to throw him to the wolves. He goes to Bemidji to confess his mistake and meets Molly there. Lorne has taken over the blackmailing of the grocery store magnate. Instead of aiding him, he now becomes his tormentor and his worst enemy. There are some great scenes. Hess's widow is visited by Lester because Hess had been insured. Two of my favorite characters are Hess's sons, a couple of obnoxious idiots. There is a great scene where they are playing with crossbows while the widow comes on to Lester. This has got to be one of the most creative shows ever on television.

Fargo: S1E3 "A Muddy Road" Review - King Cadmium
kingcadmium27 February 2022
Malvo flips the script on the blackmail operation, Molly sets a trap, and Gus debates whether he should come clean. Lester's return to work has complicated repercussions.

What I Liked:

Malvo flipping the script on the blackmail operation is an ingenious move by the writers. It perfectly shows just how cunning of a character he is, causing some form of destruction in the lives of just about everyone he meets.

The cinematography is solid, and each scene perfectly implements its beautiful and mesmerizing music score. On top of that, each actor gives a strong performance, with Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman being the clear standouts.

Malvo is one of the most intriguing individuals you will see on television, with Thornton's portrayal being nothing short of superb, along with Freeman's portrayal of Lester.

What I Disliked:

Malvo's kidnapping of Phil McCormick was highly overt, to the point it felt completely unrealistic. Him doing this at nighttime after Phil had finished work would have been a lot more plausible.

Overall:

Fargo delivers another fantastic episode early in its run. Just about every element combines to create a highly enthralling viewing experience.

The investigation brings Molly even closer to the truth
TheDonaldofDoom13 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Martin Freeman is great again as the awkward, weak Lester. Scenes with him in them are a joy to watch, as Malvo's scenes continue to be. The way he drags off a man by his tie without a care in the world, without even a care about being caught on CCTV, shows just how much of a badass guy he is. Speaking of Malvo, his blackmail plan is a stroke of genius. Instead of killing the blackmailer, he takes over the plan himself! And when he causes blood to flow out of the shower, that is a moment that perfectly sums up his character. He does what he wants for his own amusement and he always gets away with it. For now, anyway. No one's perfect, and with such a careless attitude his luck is bound to run out eventually.

Other than that, Molly's investigation continues, showing how sharp she is compared to everyone else. Worst thing for her is no one is taking her seriously, even after Lester's reaction to seeing Lorne on CCTV. Although I think I saw a suspicion finally appear on the boss's face. The two hitmen are also trying to find the killer of Sam Hess, which brings a hilariously awkward confrontation with Lester which is interrupted by Molly.

There's a hell of detail put into the many plot lines, although for the time being the main plot threads are only advancing slowly. That's okay though given how entertaining this show is to watch. Even if nothing major happened in an episode it'd still be better than most TV.

"Fargo" continues to be the best show of 2014
jameskane90005 July 2014
Warning: Spoilers
So, first of all: I am from Germany. So in my following review could be some grammar mistakes. I apologize for that.

I saw the first three episodes of "Fargo" until now and i can say: Its just awesome. Really. Everything fits perfectly. The comedy, the suspense, the drama. Its not just a remake or spin-off of "Fargo" from the Coen brothers. You feel the people behind this series, really want to make this series with fresh new ideas and lot of black comedy.

But what really great at "Fargo" is: It shows me how brilliant the actor Martin Freeman REALLY is. I mean, in the "Hobbit" movies he is just there, in my opinion. In this series he shows us that he is a perfect actor.

Also the directing is really good and the music fits perfectly.

I can recommend this show to everyone and i hope they make more than just one season of this awesome series.

Nice one.

Everything is going slowly, I hope that comedy keeps going on and I am sure it's a great way for me to get a good feel about how we can hide our criminal sides.

Lester's cornered
gedikreverdi1 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Sam's former stripper wife is hilarious. She's hitting on Lester. The female officer and the officer who got spooked by the hit man start to bring the pieces together. The man is an interesting character. He's living with his daughter. They dined together with the female officer at her father's diner. After learning Lester's car wasn't broken but stolen by the hit man, she made sure that he's lying. And the hit man became the blackmailer of the supermarket king while he's working for him.
