Channel 5 has announced that it has ordered a series of Big Debates.
Following the ratings success of controversial programmes The Big Benefits Row: Live and The Big British Immigration Row: Live, the broadcaster announced today that it will tackle more divisive subjects in the coming first two months.
The first of the new debates - The Big 'Can't Pay' Debt Debate: Live - will focus on the debt faced by families across the country and ask whose fault financial problems are, whether it be banks, payday loan firms or the indebted people themselves.
The "vociferous, volatile" debate will feature people in debt, bankers, politicians, loan companies, financial experts, "opinion formers" and celebrities - including some who have gone bankrupt themselves.
Channel 5 will also host an obesity debate - The Big Fat Row: Live - which will explore questions such as whether people should get free NHS treatment for weight loss surgery and weight-related illnesses,...
