The film's script went through more than 30 drafts spanning over 16 months, the final one being only 8 pages long.
While on vacation in New York, writer/director Dallas Box visited the set of "John Wick" (2014) and gave two people the script, one being Keanu Reeves.
Inspiration for the film came from "A Clockwork Orange" (1971), David Cronenberg's "Crash" (1996), "Revolutionary Road" (2008), "Black Swan" (2010) and "The Basketball Diaries" (1995).

During the final night of production, one of the featured picture vehicles broke down - prompting the crew to physically push it down the street to finish filming.
