One hell of a ride ...

Amazing series finale , the show couldn't be wrapped up in a better way than this. with a look even to the further futuristic happy ending that every one will get, i'm really satisfied that i was a fan for 7 years. all the characters will be missed. all the characters were always hilarious. and what a better ending than having the whole cast in the finale , Rashida Jones and Rob Lowe are back. and in the end of the episode they gave us a one last look of how it all started .. it was definitely one of the most successful Comedy shows of all time. hope to see Greg Daniels and Michael Schur writes again in shows like this because they're so damn funny. farewell Parks and Recs :)

A fantastic series closer, for a truly fantastic series.

Parks and Rec baby. 7 seasons of pure fun, laughs, and great writing. Although the first season was a bit of a mess, it redeemed itself tremendously.

With memorable characters, beautiful story lines and real care put into the characters, Michael Shur and Greg Daniels have (once again) created an unforgettable series.

We'll miss you Pawnee, thank you for the good times.

And we're crying
pobodysnerfect-9091824 March 2020
This show is the most amazing show in the world, and I will miss it sooooooooooooooooooooooooo much. Anything less than a ten for this show (or episode) is completely unacceptable.

Thank you P&R for making me happy and allowing myself a good cry :)

Great ending to a great show
ydnar12324 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Parks and Recreation has been one of favorite live action sitcoms of all time. Despite its hilariously flawed characters like show is like no other show I've watched before. Sure I'm sad that the show is over but I'm also happy that the show did not overstay its welcome and become stale. Many of the characters appear to have some big roles coming in the future, most notably Chris Pratt. I enjoyed the ending because it showed how the lives of each main character would work out in future and each path is based on each characters interests and I'm sure that the paths were well thought out. We also get to see the return of Rashida Jones and Rob Lowe who both exited the show during the last season. I'm glad that the original crew is back together for the finale. Everyone wants a happy ending for their favorite sitcom and its so nice to see Ron Swanson find the perfect job for him and see Andy and April start a new family. Of course everyone it is hard not to be wowed by the ending for Leslie Knope and Ben, all while the crew remain friends. An emotional ending to one of the greatest shows I've ever watched. I'm going to miss it.

This finale beautifully wraps up the storyline for every main (and some supporting) characters. although i was sad about this show ending, the finale made up for it.

The perfect episode
waylandeffect26 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
It was moving and funny and it was over before I knew it. While I wasn't a fan of the transitions, the stories that we told were perfect. The writers, actors, and directors all know these characters so well that this is the closest I think you can get fictional characters to being real. I cared so much how things ended for each and every one of them, and they brought the perfect ending for each one. If anyone had asked me then Ron, Leslie and Ben, Tom, April and Andy, Garry, and Donna all would have had an episode to wrap up each story. Unfortunately, I feel as though NBC was ready to be done with the show, even though I would have paid to watch it for the rest of my life. But they ended it at just the right time, with an original twist on the final season. If you don't love this show I'll never respect you.

This is the best wrap up for a sitcom that I've ever seen
carassoguy8 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I have watched a lot of sitcoms and to be fair I never cried during one of them not once but the closest I ever got was my second viewing of this show in this episode when you see Ann and Chris and I think that parks and rec has the best ending of any sitcom I've ever had the pleasure of seeing and probably ever will because the writers of this show don't forget the smallest of detail and in the end it paid off in this episode and to an extent it did for the whole 7th season because they wanted a good ending they made a whole season three years in the future just so they have a great ending. Now the part I liked the most about this episode was the send-off of my favourite character Ron Swanson they at first had shown that his job (which he doesn't need at all) is going great financially and he chose to quit just showing how Ron doesn't do something he doesn't believe in his three jobs during the show we saw him working in parks just to help the tax payer make a building company just to build because he likes it also he is definitely not a man that stays at home not working and working in a beautiful national park because he loves nature, ruining or making a mistake with a character like that is really easy but they kept him pure the whole way which they should get all the respect for. I don't know what more there is to say besides ironing the point of why I think it's so good.

Perfect ending

Warning: Spoilers
I've seen a lot of shows and I gotta say, this one has one of the most satisfying endings of any show I've seen. Unfortunately, shows so often end on a bad note... But this one really hit the spot for me.

We get the usual Parks and Rec silliness which gave me a few good laughs, but what set it apart for me were the flash forwards. I always love to know what happens to the characters I've spent so much time investing in an getting to know. This ending gave me just that satisfied and happy feeling. 10/10.

Sorry the ending is no 9.6

Warning: Spoilers
I was a big fan of the show overall, but the last (3) episodes just were really flat. If your watched the office you probably got emotional, you didn't want it to end. Parks did not have any of that. The last (3) episodes were a (6) at most.

Season Overview
Mr-Fusion31 August 2017
For me, the show really ended at the close of the sixth season. And it's not easy to say that because I love "Parks and Rec", but it was just such an appropriate ending. This season certainly didn't start off on the right foot, squandering the potential of that time jump with bad blood between Ron and Leslie (seriously?), and once it finally got back on track, it was all saccharine "Glee" fantasy world. Look, the show always had a can-do sweetness at its core, but the Kodak moments have always been balanced out.

So close to the end, I had to see it through. Though it wasn't easy. This show will live on in greatness, despite its lackluster coda.

Season 7: Bows out with a solid season that only occasionally feels a little heavy in its sentiment
bob the moo2 July 2016
This half-season of P&R does have the feeling of being a little more than was needed to close out this show; in particular the start of the season and its continuation of the jump forward in time felt a little clunky in the way it works its narrative. This does not last long though and the season sets up a reasonably solid narrative which provides a frame for the final episodes. It does occasionally feel overly sentimental and tidy in how it does this, but mostly it is funny and allows the characters to play out their threads in ways that are in keeping with the seasons before, and brings it to a close fairly well.

It doesn't totally avoid the sense of it congratulating itself though, and some of the material leans towards sentiment. The Johnny Karate episode in particular didn't really work for me, and sometimes the plotting goes too far in the search of a happy ending for all, but mostly it works pretty well. The cast seem to enjoy themselves but don't lose sight of their characters; only Pratt stands out by virtue of how toned he is throughout. Okay it has the slightly bloated and celebratory feeling of a reunion tour, but it is still pretty funny as it does it and it serves as a surprisingly neat and enjoyable conclusion to the show.

Not as good the second time around
wookietower14 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Finished watching the show in a second go around and I have to say it was not as enjoyable as the first watch. I think a lot of that is because it feels dated now (2023). It doesn't have that timeless appeal that The Office does. You can watch the Office and it doesn't feel dated. P&R with all the political cameos and Obama-era type references just majestic it feel outdated. I do like that the characters generally maintain their same core appeal throughout. They all grow into more interesting people and while I get annoyed by Leslie it was still a growing process for her as well. I felt the show did lose some with Anne a d Chris left though.

I don't see this getting such a high rating
ChewSpocka15 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
"Parks and Rec" has, masterfully, shown the characters failing and coping with their failures, throughout the series. From Andy failing at becoming a police officer, Leslie getting recalled, or Ice World, failure is presented as a very real part of life. As a series, it's among the greats.

Now to this finale:

First the good. Andy and April having their baby just minutes into November First and missing Halloween was hilarious. The entire scene was well done. Tom's ending was perfect. Tom using his failures to spread the message about overcoming and moving on summarized one of the main themes of the series. His speech was what was needed to wrap things up. If it would've ended there, it would have done the series a great service. But no...

Every character has a Disney-esque, over-the-top, ending. Leslie becomes governor of Indiana, Ben is hinted at becoming President, and Garry is the mayor. It's too much and appears to undo what they've established as a theme for the series. It felt like an insult to the fans and characters to have them all have fairy tale endings.

The series should have ended with Andy and April's baby and Tom's speech.

A tragedy
martalapsus6 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
It was painful to watch. Poorly written. All characters have a wonderful life and are unrealisticly too lucky and happy. All of them have a lot of beautiful children and amazing jobs. It was really cheesy and unnecessary. I wish I never saw it, and I wish I have left the final open, at least in my mind.

Cringe
osullivanconor3 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Being a fan of the US office (earlier seasons at least) I watched this show from Season 1. Unlike a lot of other reviewers I thought it was great at the start and couldn't wait for Season 2. Season 2 started well but began to dip half way through. The characters became unbelievable in their incompetence and stupidity and the story lines became more and more far fetched. For example Andy went from lazy layabout to belligerent idiot – but still managed to outperform all other candidates to get a job in the Parks Dept. AND have his own TV show. Ron Swanson existed on a diet of only steak and whiskey, went out of his way not to work but kept his job and by all accounts made a mint doing so. In fact all the key characters coincidentally got jobs with each other, managed to keep their previous jobs too if it was crucial to the storyline – !?! –  and steadily became more and more irritating as the show went on. After season 4 my loyalty petered out. When I read it was finishing with Season 7 I made the effort to watch it 'til the end… but I just couldn't! This was a 'cringleingly' bad final episode of a 'cringingly' bad season for a 'cringeingly' bad show. I switched off part of the way through is was so terrible. Needless to say, everything wraps up perfectly for every single one of the characters!

And they lived happily ever after
chris-j-chuba5 September 2023
I loved the series but the finale was meh. It was void of all the whacky humor and bizarre plots that made this series so good. But if all you are looking for is to see what happens to each character so that you can say goodbye to them then by all means watch it but don't expect anything more than that.

Soooo much sugar, ''Ben finally gets that surgery to become a Hobbit/elf and go on a nationwide tour to promote 'Game of Cones'. Or, 'so-and-so finally buys that puppy mill and move to California.' I'm spouting nonsense of course. For the real endings, remove any story lines that are even remotely colorful, Ron's was a little colorful but predictable, 'and each one ended up with a happy and fulfilled life'.

Fast forward into the future
vivianla30 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
We get to see the futures of each of the characters.

Leslie and Ben end up both being sought out. They have been asked to run for Governor of Indiana. Ben announces for Leslie that she is running to the team. She smiles at him knowing he sacrificed for her. Leslie ends up giving a speech at the university in the year 2035. She ends up working with people like Biden.

Donna has become a successful real estate agent and states she loves her teacher husband but also likes her diamonds.

April and Andy are on the fence about kids. April tells Leslie that they were so lucky in that they just had sex one time and had three children at once. Leslie gives wise words saying it is not about making your life perfect but having a good team and wanting to add more team members. They end up having a son named Jack.

Ann and Chris have two kids - a girl and a boy. They are Leslie and Oliver.

Jerry lives to be 100 years old with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At the funeral, Ben comments how good Gayle still looks.

Ron's three kids have grown up. One of the girls got into Stanford University. Ron is lost in life and seeks Leslie for advice. She gives him a job taking care of the new park where there is a beautiful lake.

Tom ends up going broke and writing a successful book about it.
