- Barbie, Sam, Pauline, Lyle and Hunter try to evade Don and his forces and find a way back to Chester's Mill, while Junior and Melanie hide the egg from Julia and Big Jim.
- Barbie finds himself under arrest by unknown men who, not surprisingly, want to know how he got out of the dome. They also want to get their hands on the egg. Pauline, Sam and Lyle try to decipher the meaning of her last postcard - a picture of a red door - and suspect it may be a way back into the dome. They eventually head to Hunter's apartment where they meet up with Barbie who knows exactly where to find it. In Chester's Mills, Big Jim knows that Barbie has got out and presses Junior to tell him what is going on. When he learns about the egg, he tasks Rebecca to find out where it is.—garykmcd
- Julia blows off Big Jim's friendly offer of help, but the kids all think he knows Barbie is alive. They head back to the high school to wait for another email from Barbie while Junior goes to the station to keep an eye on his dad.
Back in Zenith, they try to make sense of Pauline's red door painting. Lyle mentions that in the Old Testament Israelites would paint their doors red with the blood of lambs as a sacrifice so the angel of vengeance would pass them by. But he more helpfully mentions that he went through the red locker door to get out of the dome, so maybe the mystery red door is a way in.
At the police station, Jim confronts Junior about seeing Barbie outside the dome. Junior admits he knew Barbie was alive. Big Jim has something he wants Junior to show him.
Where ever Barbie is being held, he gets a visit from his father, Don Barbara, who claims he can't get Barbie out of holding. When Barbie asks his dad who changed his email, his dad says he was forced to change it. Don tells his son that the only way he'll be released is if he convinces Julia to bring them the egg. Barbie refuses.
"Still so damn stubborn. I just hope it doesn't get us both killed," Don says.
Outside the holding room, it's clear Don was lying. He's in charge and owns the security company. He tells a guard that it's only a matter of time before the army finds out about the power source and authorizes "any means necessary."
Junior takes his dad to the cliff below the high school and Jim starts to remember some of the things his wife used to talk about. He wishes he could apologize for doubting her.
He thinks his job is to lead people in the dome to freedom, but Junior tells his dad about Barbie's warning to Julia not to jump. He mentions the egg, but says he doesn't know where it is. Jim wants to find it.
In Zenith, Sam, Pauline and Lyle head to the playground looking for the red door. Pauline remembers taking Junior to a playground all the time as a kid so he could see Angie. She notices a red door on a toy house, but Sam notices two men watching them from a park bench. Lyle and Sam split up to draw the men away while Pauline checks out the play house -- but a kid jumps out and tells her no grown-ups allowed.
Don Barbara tells Hunter it's time to send another email.
Waiting for a message at the high school, Norrie sees one from Hounds of Diana. Joe notices another email come through -- but just one. He thinks whoever sent it might be controlling the signal.
It's a video link from Don Barbara to Julia. They watch it and Melanie recognizes his voice from somewhere. Don pleads with Julia to bring the egg in exchange for Barbie, saying he can't guarantee Barbie's safety.
Back in holding, the guard comes in and wails on Barbie, slamming his head into the table. Babrie speaks quietly until the man leans down to hear him, then Barbie grabs the guard's heads and slams him into the table. He knocks him out, uncuffs himself and steals the guard's gun.
At the café, Jim confronts Rebecca about Barbie, but she doesn't know about him being alive, or about the egg. But she thinks she might be able to get Joe to show her where the egg is.
Lyle and Pauline regroup at the park, she's having the beginning of a vision and is seeing a spiral over and over. They don't think it's safe to go back to Pauline's apartment, so she calls a friend.
At the high school, Melanie tries to convince everyone not to turn over the egg. "I died once for the egg and it brought me back. I don't why, but I feel in my heart that we have to keep it with us," she says.
Melanie runs off and Julia finds Rebecca standing in the hall. She says Jim filled her in and she's there to warn them that Jim wants the egg. Rebecca understands if Julia doesn't trust her, but warns her that things are going to get worse.
Pauline, Lyle and Sam arrive at Pauline's friend's place -- it's Hunter, her best student when she taught art at Zenith High. There's another nerd with them named Trevor. They notice someone coming on their surveillance, but can't see who it is.
The man comes in with a gun -- it's Barbie. He does a double, then triple take when he sees Sam and Lyle. He grabs Sam and, after learning who Pauline is, tells her that her brother killed Angie.
Jim goes to the dome's edge with a sign, demanding to speak with whoever's in charge.
Later, a paramilitary-looking man arrives and Jim writes that he can get them the egg, if they deal with him and no one else.
He writes that he needs to bring everyone, but the man says no. So Jim writes "me and my son."
When the man agrees, Jim writes: "Point me to it and it's yours."
The man shows him a glowing red spot on the Chester's Mill map -- it's Angie McAllister's house.
Back at Hunter's place, Sam doesn't deny killing Angie and tells Pauline he did it because of what she put in her journal. Pauline thinks they have to go back to the dome to atone for their sins.
Lyle, Pauline and Sam tell Barbie they want to go back into the dome. They show Barbie Pauline's latest drawing. Hunter runs an image search on red doors around town and they start pulling addresses -- but Barbie recognizes the door in the drawing. He grew up there.
Melanie finds Junior taking the egg from Angie's house. He explains that he told his dad, but knows it was a mistake, so he's moving it. Melanie also thinks Julia can't be trusted with it since she's more concerned about Barbie. They agree to keep it safe together.
Meanwhile, Julia confronts Jim at the station over the missing egg. Neither of them have it. Jim tells her he knows that Barbie is alive. He insists he wants the egg to save the town.
The guard checks in with Don, telling him Barbie lost their tail after they let him escape. Don is about to get angry when he sees someone at his security gate and hears his son telling him he got out. They race to the gate, but it's not Barbie -- it's nerd Trevor in a hoodie with a recording of Barbie's voice.
Meanwhile, Barbie, Sam, Pauline, Hunter and Lyle sneak onto the property and head for the red door on the root cellar.
At the gate, Don orders the grounds searched.
Barbie finds the door and clears it off. It bears a small well hand print, Barbie's from the day it was painted. He opens the cellar door. Pauline is uneasy but he points out she can go or get caught.
Down in the cellar, they move rubbish to get to a secret doorway. It opens and leads to a tunnel. Barbie questions Hunter going with them, but he points out Barbie's dad will not be happy if he catches them. The guard is on their heels down to the cellar, but checks it and sees nothing.
Down in the tunnel, Sam sees a swirling spiral of dust coming at him. When it hits him he flashes back to after Pauline died, young Junior asking his uncle to take him with him. "Then mom lied. She said you were going to save me one day. I was hoping that was today," Junior says.
When the spiral hits Barbie, he remembers the day he made the yellow handprint on the door. Melanie was there, as was his dad. She tells him she's only there for one day and her mom wanted her to meet him. She promises she'll see him again.
Barbie and Sam come up in the lake.
Still in the tunnel, the spiral hits Pauline and she sees herself in the bottom of the crater with the egg glowing in the center. She sees Melanie, who tells her "this is where it began and this is where it ends, for all of us." Then she disappears and Pauline pops up in the lake.
Hunter is next to her, but they don't see Lyle. They swim to the shore.
Barbie tells everyone to lay low while he goes to find Julia. Pauline asks Sam to find Lyle, saying they'll need him. She goes to find Junior.
Junior hides the egg in his dad's own fallout shelter. Melanie finds it "peaceful" and asks Junior to lie down with her.
Pauline goes to her old house and finds Junior's room. She turns around and sees Jim staring at her in shock.
