Not completely to my liking.
joshuawilson-6710226 June 2017
First of I feel people misunderstand the job that Judge Rinder plays. He is a qualified barrister and this, like Judge Judy and other shows of its kind are actually arbitrations. To my understanding also like Judge Judy the show will have a written contract that their ruling is final as well as the possibility of appearance fees and even that they pay the ruling (to a limit or on a finance agreement).

Personally I prefer trash TV and Judge Rinder is a little too highbrow in this regard, Judge Judy is much more brash and direct which makes for a more exciting show. I appreciate some of the legal explanations behind his rulings and the odd occasions that he makes a show of the people in his court but in the back of my head I think if this was on at a later time in the day and featured more "Jeremy Kyle" styled confrontation it would be a lot more successful than it currently is.

Brilliant barrister. Personality of a wet dish cloth.
webstercharlotte11 November 2021
As someone from a legal background and with many years experience working with and alongside some of the UK's most ruthless and brilliant QC's, Rob Rinder gets my respect purely for his knowledge, experience, skill and ultimately making judgements within the law. He knows his stuff and I'm sure meeting him on the wrong side of a courtroom would be an absolute nightmare.

It's for the same reason I also dislike the show intensely. Firstly he takes forever to get through the basics and crux of the case and it's not taking time to gather evidence, facts and details of any real erlevant. It's purely emotive stuff and raking up the relationship dynamics and having Michelle on hand with tissues when they inevitably start bawling and sobbing. By the time he gets round the actually summing up and making a judgement he could have heard another two or three cases it just takes so long. Whilst it's good that he does explain how he has to make his judgements and puts it into simple layman's terms so everyone is clear on the how and why points, he really overdoes it sometimes and sounds like he's addressing 8yr old kids.

ITV had Jeremy Kyle still running at the same time this prime viewing for the daytime don't work and doss all day viewers so they no doubt wanted to really push this persona he went with the persona going with the imaginative "outrageous, camp as Christmas gay man and no-nonsense UK answer to Judge Judy" and it lands like a wet fart.

Rubbish
sanscomb13 January 2015
I found this program whilst channel surfing one night. Apparently it is the UK version of Judge Judy.

Now I am not the worlds biggest fan of Judge Judy, but at least that program is at times quite funny and is watchable.

Judge Rinder has to be one of the most obnoxious people I have seen on Reality TV. He is arrogant, unfunny and patronising.

I watched 3 minutes before I switched channels as I couldn't believe the tripe.

These Court reality shows rely on the viewer getting a connection with the judge. This works for peoples Court and Judge Judy, but Judge Rinder is such an unlikeable person that there is no connection.

Don't waste your time.

Dreadful
fergusdrake-78820 August 2014
This show is another truly disgraceful attempt of entertainment from ITV. Random people arguing about tiny disputes; which could be easily dealt with inside a small claims court, all while in front of a barrister who is almost gagging for a chance to be in the public eye. To describe this "show" for those who haven't seen this, I would advise them to think of a combination of Judge Judy, The Jeremy Kyle Show (filmed in the same studio), and the mess that a poodle leaves on the front of your driveway.

The people who come onto this show are giving legal authority over there claims to a barrister, pretending to be a judge, who spends the episode telling people "Did "x event" happen? I don't believe you, i will ask again. Did "x event" happen? I still don't believe you. Or that "he can spot lies just as well as smelling 'farts' in a lift". Charming...

No Result Is Legal!
brdlybaum28 August 2014
This is a truly horrendous programme that has no redeeming feature! The only way I would watch it again is if I was so bored I had absolutely nothing else to watch and absolutely nothing else to do and even then the thought of watching grass grow and paint dry seems a lot more appealing! It is done in exactly the same way as Judge Judy which is completely wrong for the courts in England and that is just as horrendous!

If I could give it less than one star, I would!

TO THE PEOPLE WHO CHECK THE REVIEWS BEFORE ACCEPTING OR REJECTING THEM FOR THE WEBSITE I HAVE A QUESTION TO ASK:

Why do I have to type a minimum of ten lines when I have seen others leave recent reviews that are less than ten? It is often a struggle to come up with that many lines, such as in this case , the review above on Judge Rinder!

Fake Judge Thinks He's Such a Wit.
carrona20 December 2015
This insufferable bore thinks his ability to shoe-horn non-funny jokes and fart gags into his pretend court is amusing.

Sadly, ITV need an easily-made 60 minutes of trash to fill a vacancy in their afternoon telly. Rinder appears to have been the only applicant. He got the job and we're now stuck with him. Each of his numerous fart joke have been used at least 20 times per season.

He appears to have already decided what the outcome of each 'case' will be before the players even enter the fake court. He must lie in bed each night dreaming up weak jokes to interject into the course of each case. You can see the look of panic on his face when folk don't answer questions like he expected and opportunities to squeeze in his planned 'wit' are missed.

Roll up, roll up. If you've got a vaguely funny name, you're a transvestite, toothless, overweight, skinny, tattooed, educationally subnormal etc......Judge Rinder wants to attempt to make fun of you!!!!

As a law student I found it interesting.
slesleylawson17 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
As a person who is studying law as a mature student but haven't spent much time in a court, I found it interesting to see how the legal theories are applied in court. I came across it when I was off work with the flu, so stayed in bed watching the TV, and it was a welcome relief to ITV day time, after being told to see cheap looking orange wags as style icons on This Morning, or Coleen Nolan on Loose Women screaming with joy for the 3rd time on one show about the latest attention seeking schemes of the Beckhams. Judge Rinder actually made me think. I prefer it more than Judge Judy. Maybe it's her New York way, but I find her too brash and rude compared to Rinder. I found myself getting so annoyed by how she talked to people, it was putting me off the legal points.

A fake judge and the worst program on TV
emmaelizabethmcgrath23 October 2015
This is possibly the worst program on television .The man is repugnant. He makes fun of people unnecessarily and over explains things just to drag out the case, dwells on irrelevant details and asks questions but says "shhh" to people when they respond. Even a person giving their name is enough for him to criticise. He is an egotistical creep with very poor comic timing and a low set of morals- he is a lawyer, not a judge so adding to the fakery and charade. This man gives legal professions a bad name.He tries to be Judge Judy but is not clever or witty enough to come even close. He is a creep and the program lacks any credibility. Trash TV.

Amusing show with a likeable star
Hayden-8605521 April 2021
It's a good show, Judge Rinder is very charming and confident and gets through the cases with good humour, he's not as shouty as Judge Judy nor are the cases as eccentric but it's a fun insight into how courts work and Rinder himself has a strong personality with a lot of fun to be had.

7/10: Something good to watch in the afternoon.

Emotional seeking Judge
cheyennepepsiluv16 February 2017
I love Judge Judy, so this looked like it would be a good show. It isn't, every single case, Judge Rinder try's to get the litigants to become emotional blubbering wrecks. I noticed the Z - list 'celebs' are Sue happy too, many ex big brother contestants have taken part. I would not recommend this show to anyone.

There's a difference in being stern and being a complete jerk
This review is based on the YouTube Judge Rinder. I know it isn't the exact same as watching the full episodes on TV (I don't think this show is available in my country on TV but clips are on YouTube). Granted when I saw this show in YouTube I used to like him until I saw how rude he was. I'm all for stern, but not for jerky rudeness. I don't care if you're a judge, the president, an astronaut, etc, I wouldn't like you. He, as a law-abiding, law-enforcing "judge" should teach people how to respect people instead of disrespect right back. Two disrespects doesn't make a right. Especially if the latter disrespect comes from a "judge" who is supposed to be the one with the cool head. I don't like Judge Judy because of this either, but it's more tolerable because she doesn't disrespect the ones who weren't disrespectful to anyone in the court like Judge Rider does (of what I saw from both)

A 'truth smeller' who lives the life of a fake human.
gvajax1 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Sweaty Rinder (as he is known in Chambers) is one of the most repugnant human beings I have had the displeasure of experiencing professionally. For quite a number of years he pranced around demanding various of us to 'believe' things about him that were frankly psychotic. For example in 2008 I was informed that I had no choice but to "treat me as a girl". Those were the exact words of the perverted oaf. So I referred to 'him' as 'her' in a meeting and then instantly was threatened with a sexual discrimination action. There is something very wrong with Rinder, something that is not medical. It is his own practiced dis-ease in his actual reality and his projection of this designed hatred to everyone else. I have lied to him 20+ times and he never spotted one of them, spending 5,400 on a bag or guaranteed 'seeds' on one occasion. Sweaty's Magic Beans, as they have come to be known. C'est la vie. This French guy is coming out about this one. I wonder if I will be allowed the freedom to come out about Rinder?

This is just a b-tech... no no no. A c-tech judge judy. The 'jokes' are not even close to judge judy. At least 99% of the people on judge judy have something sensible. Rinder is trying to hard to be Judy

Absolutely rubbish
fawzyair15 June 2017
I have watched a few episodes of judge rinder not because it's a good show but I thought he can't be that bad, he can't be that obnoxious, but i was so wrong. He is not just a waste of time and space he lives in a bubble that he has made up, I mean being a fake judge is one thing but to say he is repugnant is a HUGE understatement, the guy is truly repulsive, I can understand someone being controversial on t.v., that makes perfect sense but he is sick..seriously sick and anyone in the justice system would be embarrassed that rinder is a part of the system. He is what you call the "Hole" of the system or even the hole in the system. Trash would be offended to be called rinder.

This is my first time watching & so far, I like it!
mastuhoscg3 May 2024
I decided that today I would give this beautiful long running live action 2014 ITV Studios court show entitled "Judge Rinder" a try & so far, I really like it. The reason why I like it is because it is interesting to see the things that go on in a courtroom overseas as opposed to one in America & the one thing I really like about this show is the honourable Judge Robert Rinder as he often told it like it is, he was quite fair in his rulings & I even like that he is really intelligent. I initially seen his show as a recommendation on my YouTube feeds but I didn't watch him until today as I wanted to try it now. He might be considered a British version of the well known Honourable Judge Judith Sheindlin from "Judge Judy" & "Judy Justice" but in my opinion, he's a lot sassier & entertaining than she is although I am neutral towards her show but that's NOT important now. I'm also glad that I gotten a chance to fall in love with this show this afternoon & I REFUSE to consider it a guilty pleasure being so I AIN'T got NONE. I even like that when he has to kick a litigant out of his courtroom, he tells them "goodbye" & they leave. I even like when he says "TALKING!".

Awful stuff
oldfaithfulalvaro27 December 2021
Awful awful stuff, fake humour, unfunny, if this is what daytime TV is coming to we are doomed. At least judge Judy is mildly entertaining compared to this drivel.
