Roman Citizen started as a short film. After the shoot was finished, a 40 minute version was edited and released in the festival circuit. During this time, the film was picked up by Italian distributor Recalcati Multimedia. To better sell the film, it was decided it should become a TV film and a pilot for a series. One year after completion of principal photography, writer/director Luca Elmi got together with producers Curry and Ingram and actors Laurel Casillo, Abi Van Andel and Lauren Argo. Actor Michael Legg was hired and a new chapter was added at the end of the original film. The new film, with a running time of 52 minutes was then put on the market with the title Roman Citizen - the TV Pilot.
