Woodrugh's former military acquaintance mentions a place named Al-Hajjarah. The most well known (and most picturesque) village by that name exists in the terraced mountains of the Haraz region of Yemen
The song playing in the background as Woodrugh looks for his missing motorbike, and while he is in the taxicab, is by Black Mountain and is titled, "Set Us Free." For reasons unknown, it never made it into the Season 2 official soundtrack album, "Nevermind." Black Mountain is also the name of the Defense contracting company that Woodrugh worked for in Iraq.
The director of episode 3 - Janus Metz Pedersen - will also be directing Nic Pizzolatos novel 'Galveston'.
