It's all coming to a head...
hiren848424 April 2015
Warning: Spoilers
It's all about the consequences of the decisions people had/have/are about to make. Karen is still coming terms with what she did, Matt seeing some great parallels in his life by seeing the drugs being packaged by the blind and finally Fisk vs Ben...you kinda knew how that was going to end (ok perhaps not in such a way and just when you start to like a character!).

It was always going to be interesting to see how Fisk unravels and despite his best intentions to try to save his city, it's becoming rather personal for him and we are starting to see him turn into a monster (much like his father).

Looking forward to the finale and seeing the final showdown between Daredevil and Kingpin!

Medicines and words come with a price
quincytheodore26 April 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Karen is probably the last person expected to deliver the coup de grâce to Fisk's right hand. An act that even herself might not believe she has done. In hindsight of what has transpired, she has turned to booze for comfort and partially to escape the harrowing nightmare. At the same time Murdock also hits rock bottom as he discovers more abomination that lurks beneath the city. The show has gotten darker as the end is nigh.

Murdock is following every little detail he can get to close in on Fisk. After following the lead from Russian and an odd individual from earlier episodes, he's eventually stumbled upon a heroin factory full of disabled people. The place and its connection might have been revealed slightly on past episodes, but this time the show gives light to what viciousness is hidden. After seeing the weak people, Murdock is burdened by empathy and increasingly heavier darkness.

Props to the parkour scene at the midway point. It's rare to see the show utilizes daylight and outdoor at the same time, it has done so with elegance this episode. The path less taken which Murdock ventures on is showcased with crisp visual and dynamic choreography. There's also a mysterious near supernatural aspect to the show with Madame Gao, contrasting to the worldly pleasure of drug and the cloak-and-dagger scheming she does in the crime industry.

Fisk, as he's now cornered with gradually dwindling allies and resources, has shown more aggressive side. His relationship with Vanessa might not only sooth him but also fuels his rage in perverse manner. In another contradicting way from several episodes before, Fisk is now enraged and more ambitious as Murdock takes comfort on having a friend. Regardless, all roads lead to the clash between the two on the finale.

The world fell apart. Didn't you notice?

Warning: Spoilers
This episode has another surprise death, Karen trying to deal with the last one, Foggy searches himself and Matt going after another criminal faction.

Starting with Karen, she had to deal with her murder of Wesley and Woll does a fantastic job of being completely traumatized. Her delusion of Fisk finding and killing her was terrifying as it is so obvious that Karen doesn't see herself as innocent. Even when Foggy said, "you can't just go around killing people and call yourself a human being" really struck a chord with her.

Foggy starts to work with Marci on exposing Fisk. Marci works for Fisk's attorneys and she clearly is interested in it as their could be a foothold their to take down Fisk. I'm also glad that Foggy said that even though he and Matt are going through a bad time, it shouldn't interfere with taking down Fisk, so I'm relieved that he's focused on the bigger picture.

Matt continued to protect Hell's Kitchen as he took down a part of Gao's heroin ring. While it was good to see Matt continue to take on Fisk's associates, it did seemed kind of rushed compared to his takedown of the Russians and Nobu. I did very much like Gao in this episode, especially with her incredible power to strike back Matt and when she said that she actually isn't from China.

The new death this episode is Ben Urich. Sort of like Mrs Cardenas, while I understand the point of furthering the story, I am really sad he is gone because he is a great character.

+ Karen's trauma + Foggy still digging + Matt sort of taking down Gao + The mystery that is Gao +/- Ben's death - Sort of rushed

Final Score: 8.8/10.

Don't mess with Fisk! And less with his mother! Eager to see the season finale.

The chapter was an 8, but the ending gives it one more point!

Warning: Spoilers
By now Karens character is getting a bit tedious for me. I don't know what it is but she seems to lack substance. She seems to be to desperate but in a washed out sort of way. I am pleased how ever that Matt reached out to Karen and finally admitted he needs support. I can't help but feel sorry for him finding what he did in the heroine factory. It must have stirred up some strong emotion. The way matt followed the music to find the factory was very well done. His moves were very fluid and the stunts were well done.

Bens death was very predictable and I think we knew it was coming. I wish he had got to publish the story though. It gave a large insight as to the actual depravity of fisks character. Even though we as viewers knew his dark side. It is just a shame that they had to involve his mother. Looking forward to seeing what the season finale presents to us.

I Can't Do This Alone [9/10]

Warning: Spoilers
Live Reaction / Review for Daredevil Season 1 Episode 12: Episode 11 was amazing. It's amazing how Vanessa is willing to put her life at risk to be with Fisk. Fisk really loved Wesley. It seems like anyone who is close to Fisk gets hurt. Things are getting heated between Ben and his boss but is his boss really working for Fisk? Fisk without Wesley? That sucks man. Matt made the chinese lady boss really mad. Wait the chinese lady is leaving the country? Why though? Ben fired? Starting his own blogsite? Interesting! More Ben please. It's sad to see that Foggy, Matt and Karen don't even talk to each other anymore. Matt saying ''I can't do this alone'' hit me right in the feels. Wtf, Fisk is inside Ben's house? Super creepy. Is Ben dead? That sucks! My rating is 9/10.

Awesome

Warning: Spoilers
Almost finishing the first season of Daredevil and what an electrifying episode. Guys, Fisk is scary but Madame Gao enters the scene with her little steps and I'm already scared to death, her scream when she saw Daredevil scared me a lot and practically defeated the hero himself. So it was Madame Gao and Leland who sabotaged the drink to kill Vanessa. What were those final seven minutes? Tension to infinity and beyond, from the moment we see Fisk in the shadows, then they talk for about five minutes (I don't understand people who don't like these conversations and just like action without purpose) and then Fisk ends the Urich. I remembered this death, but I swore it was in previous episodes. I loved Urich so much. I didn't remember Fisk stepping on the photo of Urich and his wife. Very sad for Urich's wife and for Urich himself. Episode twelve watched on March 8, 2024.

The World Fell Apart
ThomasDrufke11 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The penultimate episode of season 1 of Daredevil came and went as we saw things come to a head. The ending of the last episode clearly was taking a toll on Karen. She killed Wesley and is like I said last review "receiving the consequences". But we also had more Fisk violence, a reference to the New York disaster, and one big death.

Heading into the finale we have now witnessed several brutal deaths but I don't think any more devastating than Ben Urich's. Unfortunately it was telegraphed by he fact that they introduced his wife recently and he had the classic phone call right before the death. He typically told Karen "We will settle it all after the article". Of course, he dies right before he can type a single word in a very clichéd ending to his life. His death was predictable but I was hoping for a redemption after getting fired from his job. Meanwhile, Matt found the lair in which Fisk has his drugs packaged and formed. It was interesting to watch Matt meet Gao for the first time and then to see her abruptly leave, presumably leaving the door open for future appearances.

With the trio pretty much in shambles it hopefully sets up a great finale with them making one final stand. I don't expect to see Fisk die, but I hope he gets his butt kicked. And we can finally see the suit in its full glory out in the field.

+Matt meets Gao

+Death takes a toll on Karen

+Sets up an epic finale

-Urich wasn't redeemed

-Predictable

Seriously?

Warning: Spoilers
So the so call, hero, can beat 10 armed men, but can't beat an old lady with a walking stick? Truly terrible TV. The fight scenes are all pretty bad, but this is definitely the low point of an already boring and predictable show.

Quite predictable

Warning: Spoilers
Not a bad episode but one I found quite predictable. One certain character's fate has been spelt out since their first introduction to the show. Otherwise it's all character stuff not all of which is too interesting.
