While heading to Washington, the 2nd Mass stop nearby a military base where they intend to look for weapons and ammunition to fight the Espheni. The recon group is captured by camouflaged soldiers under the command of Captain Katie Marshall. However, she had served in the past with Captain Weaver and soon they rekindle their old flame. They catch up on each other news and Weaver learns that had a confrontation with the enemy while on patrol and was wounded in the neck. Further, she had problems with human collaborators. There is a celebration between the soldiers and the 2nd Mass, but during the night, the sick Sgt. Zak Kagel abducts Ben and tortures him, removing one of his spikes and believing he is a collaborator. But soon, Tom and the other leaders of the 2nd Mass note that Ben is missing and feel that something strange is happening in the base.
