Anne Hathaway told Vanity Fair during a cover story interview that Christopher Nolan more or less saved her career when public opinion turned against her in the lead up to and the aftermath of her winning the Oscar for “Les Miserables.” Hathaway was widely mocked online at this time, and she once remembered googling herself after the Oscar win only to see one of the top search results was an article with the title: “Why does everyone hate Anne Hathaway?”
“A lot of people wouldn’t give me roles because they were so concerned about how toxic my identity had become online,” Hathaway now told Vanity Fair. “I had an angel in Christopher Nolan, who did not care about that and gave me one of the most beautiful roles I’ve had in one of the best films that I’ve been a part of.”
Hathaway is referring to the role of NASA scientist Dr.

“The Devil Wears Prada” cast members Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt reunited at the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards to present best actor in a comedy series. Blunt was also a nominee at the award ceremony for supporting actress thanks to her role in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.”
Streep took to the stage first alone and told the crowd that she had forgotten her glasses and the envelope with this year’s winner listed. Hathaway and Blunt then appeared to hand Streep her missing items, a nod to their roles as assistants to Miranda Priestly (Streep) in “The Devil Wears Prada.”
“Meryl and Miranda Priestly are sort of like twins,” Blunt said, to which Streep fiercely disagreed.

“Sometimes things should be cherished and preserved in this bubble and it’s okay,” Emily said, via People.
“And I think – didn’t Meryl [Streep] say something funny about it? They asked her about it, ‘Would she ever do a sequel?’ and she went, ‘Yeah, if I don’t have to lose the weight.’ But I think she said ‘the f—ing weight,’” she added.
Back in 2022, her co-star Anne Hathaway also shared that a sequel wasn’t a possibility anymore.

Jenna Ortega told E! on the Emmys red carpet that she’s “received some scripts for the second season” of “Wednesday,” her Netflix mega-hit that debuted in fall 2022 and became one of the streamer’s most-watched original series of all time. Production on Season 2 got delayed by the Hollywood strikes last year but is expected to kick off in the spring.
“We’re definitely leaning into a little bit more horror,” Ortega said in an update to fans. “It’s really, really exciting because, all throughout the show, while Wednesday does need a little bit of an arc, she never really changes and that’s the wonderful thing about her.
Ortega continued, “There’s really, really good one-liners and I think everything’s bigger. It’s a lot more action-packed. Each episode will probably feel a little bit more like a movie, which is nice.”

Katherine Heigl joined her former “Grey’s Anatomy” cast members Ellen Pompeo, Justin Chambers, James Pickens Jr. and Chandra Wilson on stage during the Emmy Awards in what was one of the more high-profile reunions for the stars. The group presented the Emmy for supporting actor in a limited or anthology series or movie to Paul Walter Hauser for Apple’s “Black Bird.”
The Emmys telecast was full of cast reunions, from “Martin” to “The Sopranos” and more, but Heigl joining forces with her “Grey’s” cast was notable given her controversial exit from the series.
“When the first episode of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ aired in March of 2005, I’m not sure if Shonda Rhimes knew that she had created a show that would have a lasting imprint on television and create lifelong friendships,” Pompeo said to the audience ahead of the show’s 20th season launching this year.

It’s impossible to imagine “The Devil Wears Prada” without Meryl Streep’s icy, Oscar-nominated performance as Miranda Priestly, but it turns out there was initial resistance to casting the acting icon in the 2006 classic. During a recent appearance on the “Hollywood Gold” podcast, producer Wendy Finerman revealed Streep was almost passed over for the role because some people thought “she has never been funny a day in her life.”
“Meryl, people thought we were crazy,” Finerman said. “I mean, I had people call me up and say, ‘Are you out of your mind? She’s never been funny a day in her life.’”
“She has been funny and they were wrong,” the producer said, calling out Streep’s comedy work in films such as “Death Becomes Her.” “But this was clearly a different kind of world for her.”

Rachel Zegler opened up for the first time during a discussion for Variety’s “Actors on Actors,” presented by “Air,” about what it was like working with CGI characters on the set of Disney’s upcoming live-action “Snow White” movie. Zegler is starring as the iconic Disney princess in the film opposite Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. “500 Days of Summer” and “The Amazing Spider-Man” filmmaker Marc Webb directed the movie.
Back in October, Disney released a first-look image from the movie that featured Zegler as Snow White surrounded by the seven dwarves. The image confirmed that CGI was being used to bring the dwarves to life and not human actors, which led to a lot of divisive reactions on social media from Disney fans.

Variety has released its newest pack of actor interviews, where movie peers get to interview each other on their craft and their experiences on their latest films. The little interview series, titled Actors on Actors, pairs together notable names who you usually don’t see together for any project, but this year includes some seemingly deliberate combinations. Margot Robbie and Cillian Murphy got to talk about their “Barbenheimer” experiences in one video. Then, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt got to have a Devil Wears Prada reunion in another, where they also shared their experiences of working with Christopher Nolan.
Once the subject is breached, Blunt immediately refers to him as “Captain Extraordinary.” Hathaway obliges, and the two joke about Nolan’s lack of effusiveness while directing, so they have to find other tells that he’s happy with a take. Blunt jokes, “I always feel that with Chris’ hair. I...

The line-up for the new series of Variety’s Actors On Actors has been revealed, with high profile movie performers interviewing each other.
Variety’s Actors On Actors is one of the most delightful series you can watch as a film fan. The central conceit is that two actors sit down for a natter about their work, often going off on tangents, acting as a unique insight into the industry.
Generally, the pairings are quite surprising, with the actors concerned often never having worked together or, in some cases, seeming quite random, but each one is fascinating and, usually, an absolute hoot. You can see Kate Winslet shooting the breeze with Gary Oldman, for example, or Beanie Feldstein with Florence Pugh.
This year’s “Actors on Actors” lineup includes:
Margot Robbie (“Barbie”) & Cillian Murphy (“Oppenheimer”)
Robert Downey Jr. (“Oppenheimer”) & Mark Ruffalo (“Poor Things”)

Margot Robbie revealed to Cillian Murphy during a conversation for Variety’s “Actors on Actors,” presented by “Air,” that she got a call from “Oppenheimer” producer Charles Roven in which he asked her to change the “Barbie” release date so that it wouldn’t open on the same day as Christopher Nolan’s atomic bomb epic. Roven also produced Nolan’s “Dark Knight” trilogy and worked with Robbie on James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad.”
“One of your producers, Chuck Roven, called me, because we worked together on some other projects,” Robbie said. “And he was like, ‘I think you guys should move your date.’ And I was like, ‘We’re not moving our date. Disney's streak of live-action remakes continues, and one we're looking forward to is the upcoming film "Snow White," a revival of 1937's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." The original "Snow White" was Disney's first animated feature film and, adjusted for inflation, is one of the highest-grossing animated films of all time. The new version stars Rachel Zegler as the titular heroine, with Gal Gadot joining her as the Evil Queen intent on being the fairest of them all.
The movie is directed by Marc Webb and wrapped filming in the summer of 2022, though Walt Disney Studios revealed on Oct. 27 that fans will have to wait until 2025 to see it. Besides that, not a whole lot is known about the film, though the team behind it have teased that there will be some pretty big differences between the original and the new one.

Elizabeth Olsen told The Times of London in a recently-published interview (conducted pre-strike) that she is aggressively seeking a “variation” of characters after working for four years solely in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Olsen filmed “WandaVision” and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” back to back, which was perhaps too much time dedicated to only playing Scarlet Witch. That’s a large reason Olsen was drawn to playing alleged axe murderer Candy Montgomery in Max’s “Love and Death.”
“I’m trying to figure out… Because, specifically in the last four years, my output has been Marvel,” Olsen said. “I don’t want… it’s not that I don’t want to be associated as just this character. But I really feel like I need to be building other parts back up for balance. I so much want to do films right now. And I hope some of them...

Jenna Ortega definitely resonates with Wednesday Addams.
The “Wednesday” actress recently chatted to the Wall Street Journal about the similarities between herself and her character.
Ortega shared, “The problem is since doing that show, if I do wear something black, it seems like I’m leaning into character, but it’s my genuine style,” Yahoo! Life reported.
She added, “I genuinely resonate with Wednesday and the colour black. It’s easy. And I feel the most like myself when I’m wearing all black, which is also why doing that job is really exciting.”

Before Pedro Pascal landed the male lead in HBO’s adaptation of the hugely popular “The Last of Us” video game, rumors swirled that co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann were trying to lure former “True Detective” stars Mahershala Ali and Matthew McConaughey back to the network to headline the series. Mazin finally sounded off on the casting rumors during a recent interview on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast.
“I actually never talked to Mahershala,” Mazin said before confirming that talks with McConaughey did in fact take place. However, it sounds like McConaughey’s casting never made it past early discussions about the project.
“I did talk to Matthew,” Mazin said. “I can’t say that it was serious, it was more of just like, ‘Hey, here’s something we can talk about’… It’s one of those things where I’m sure there’s an alternate universe where it’s a different guy.

It will be a minute before season 2 of “Wednesday” will be ready to be devoured by fans. But Jenna Ortega and her co-stars offered an early tease of what’s — or rather, who’s — to come in the Netflix series, which follows the titular (anti-)heroine as she enrolls in Nevermore Academy, a school for troubled outcasts, and investigates a murder mystery.
As part of Netflix’s Tudum fan event in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Saturday, “Wednesday”‘s Emma Myers, who plays Wednesday’s roommate, Enid Sinclair, shared in a special video that season 2 “was being worked on right now and the storyline is so top secret even we don’t know what’s going to happen.”
But one thing they could tease: Viewers will be introduced to a new member of the Addams family.

With “Succession” now over, it’s time for Brian Cox to find a new major role. Recently, he’s kept busy with smaller indie pics like “Mending The Line,” “Prisoner’s Daughter,” as well as “The Independent” on Peacock. And in the next couple of years, he’ll star in The Russo Bros.‘ “The Electric State” on Netflix and provide voice work for “The Lord Of The Rings: The War Of The Rohirrim.” But EW reports there’s something on Cox’s acting wishlist before he “snuffs it,” as he puts it on Variety’s “Actors On Actors” interview: he really wants to work with Meryl Streep.

Motherhood has been a journey for Jennifer Lawrence, and she's being honest about it. Back in April 2022, People confirmed that the actor welcomed her son with husband Cooke Maroney, their first child together. She later revealed his name, Cy, in her Vogue October 2022 cover story. According to the actor, her son is named after postwar American painter Cy Twombly, one of Maroney's - who's also an art-gallery director - favorite artists. But that's not the only fun fact we've learned about Lawrence's little one.
The Oscar winner told E! News that she's convinced "he'll love 'The Hunger Games'" when she shows it to him one day. But she's definitely straying away from letting him watch her raunchy R-rated comedy, "No Hard Feelings," in the near future. "I don't think he'll want to [watch]," Lawrence joked. "I don't worry about him pushing play on that."
So far as a mom, Lawrence told E!

Kristen Stewart announced in a chat with “The Idol” star Rachel Sennott for Interview Magazine that she is currently writing a screenplay for a “stoner girl comedy” with her fiancée, Dylan Meyer. The project marks the second Stewart-scripted movie that the Oscar winner has announced following her feature directorial debut “The Chronicles of Water,” which remains in development.
Stewart and Sennott were discussing the creative rewards of working with loved ones on projects. Sennott’s next theatrical release is the high school comedy “Bottoms,” which reunites her with her “Shiva Baby” breakout director Emma Seligman.
“You guys are best friends,” Stewart told Sennott. “God, that’s so aspirational. It takes a long time to get to that point. You’re so lucky to be doing it young.”
“It’s so fun,” Sennott said. “We got rained out for two weeks, and we’re like, ‘Fuck. We’re not going to get the last scene.

Ellen Pompeo thought it would be a lovely idea: introduce Grey’s Anatomy to her 12-year-old daughter, Stella, and bond by re-watching the show that launched her career. But just a few episodes into binging reality set in — she couldn’t stomach it.
Pompeo shared that tidbit with Katherine Heigl during their one-on-one interview for Variety‘s “Actors on Actors” series. The former Grey’s Anatomy co-stars, who played Dr. Meredith Grey and Dr. Izzie Stevens on the long-running medical drama, asked each other if they had allowed their teen and pre-teen kids to watch the show.
Heigl, who shares three children with husband Jos Kelley, said she hasn’t “gone there yet” with her 13-year-old daughter, Naleigh, prompting Heigle to then ask Pompeo, “Stella has, right?”

One of the most popular (and painfully unresolved) storylines on “Succession” was Roman Roy and Gerri Kellman’s tendency to mix business mentorship and Machiavellian scheming with kinky, degrading phone sex. The uneasy partnership between Kieran Culkin’s traumatized nepo baby and J. Smith-Cameron’s hyper-competent general counsel was the subject of endless speculation during the show’s run — and the actors still aren’t quite sure what happened.
In a new conversation with Claire Danes as part of Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series, Culkin was asked about the ever-confusing relationship between Roman and Gerri. As it turns out, he was just as confused as the rest of us while they were filming.

Katherine Heigl is speaking out about the controversy surrounding those interviews which led to her being labelled difficult.
The actress reunited with Ellen Pompeo for Variety’s “Actors on Actors” interview series, with the pair talking about their time on “Grey’s Anatomy”.
Heigl — who played Izzie Stevens — left the show back in 2010, while Pompeo — who starred as Meredith Grey for 19 seasons — walked away earlier this year.
Heigl’s time on the show came with some controversy. During the 2008-09 season, she publicly announced that she would abstain from submitting herself for Emmy consideration that year, as she “did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination.”
After her exit, she complained about the 17-hour workdays on the much-loved show while doing an interview with David Letterman. The chat came after she sparked controversy for calling her 2007 flick “Knocked Up” “a little sexist” in a Vanity Fair interview.

Ellen Pompeo and Katherine Heigl reunited for Variety’s “Actors on Actors” interview series, 13 years after the latter left “Grey’s Anatomy”.
Pompeo famously exited the much-loved series after 19 seasons earlier this year, but teased a possible comeback in the chat.
The actress said of Meredith Grey leaving Seattle: “It’s a little bit of trickery, because I’m not completely gone. Actually, the storyline is very cool.
“There’s a lot of real research that’s changing very rapidly about Alzheimer’s disease and about what they believe is the cause of Alzheimer’s disease. It’s pretty controversial. So Meredith’s character left to go to Boston because her daughter needed to go to a special school.
“I will be making some appearances hopefully next year, if I can find some time,” she went on, adding: “No, it’s not a complete goodbye.”

Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith Grey had many love interests over 19 seasons of “Grey’s Anatomy,” from Patrick Dempsey’s Derek Shepherd to Scott Speedman’s Nick Marsh, but such constant relationship conflict ultimately became a source of frustration for the actor. During a “Grey’s” reunion interview with Katherine Heigl as part of Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series, Pompeo lamented over Meredith’s lack of growth in her love life.
“When you stay on a show and with a character that long…for me, I really need to make sense of things and I really need to see evolution and growth,” Pompeo said. “And with network television specifically, there has to be some consistency for the audience. The audience wants familiarity. The writers get stuck in the consistency of something, and it’s harder, which I always would argue against and say, ‘We have such an incredible fan base. They’re so loyal.

Jennifer Coolidge will not be starring in “The White Lotus” Season 3, as series creator Mike White killed off her beloved character Tanya is the finale of the second season, but that doesn’t mean she’s ready for Tanya’s story to end. Tanya’s husband, Greg (Jon Gries), is still alive after trying to orchestrate her death in Italy in a power move to inherent her fortune. During a conversation with “The Bear” star Jeremy Allan White as part of Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series, Coolidge revealed she wants Greg back for “The White Lotus” Season 3 so that Tanya can indirectly get her revenge.
“My hope for Jon is that he’s not finished with Greg,” Coolidge said. “I hope there’s some comeuppance for evil Greg. I think he should, I don’t know, end up in a meat-grinding machine.”

Putting the past in the past. Katherine Heigl and Ellen Pompeo are coming together again for a new season of Variety’s “Actors on Actors” interview series.
The reunion comes 13 years after Heigl left “Grey’s Anatomy” — due to reported behind-the-scenes conflicts and public remarks that divided fans — and just a few months after Pompeo’s exit from the series after 19 seasons.
While the drama unfolded back in 2010 — with Heigl decrying what she said were subpar working conditions and seemingly criticizing the show’s writing at the time — Pompeo reflected on Heigl’s remarks and defended her former co-star in April 2022, during an episode of Pompeo’s podcast, “Tell Me”.
During a 2009 appearance on “The Late Show With David Letterman”, Heigl, who exited her role as Dr. Izzie Stevens in 2010, blasted the medical drama for having a “17-hour” workday, which she called “cruel and mean.”
“I remember Heigl said something on...

ABC’s legendary sudser “General Hospital” is looking to defend its crown at the Daytime Emmys, landing 19 nominations this year — the most of any program — as the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced contenders for the landmark 50th annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
Last year, “General Hospital” was the big winner with five awards — including best daytime drama — as the telecast returned to a live, in-person event. This time out, NATAS first revealed multiple categories Tuesday night via various entertainment shows, and it looked like CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” — also in the middle of its 50th anniversary celebration — had taken an early lead.
But after all was tallied, CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” was actually next in line, with 14 nods, followed by “The Young and the Restless” (13), NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” (11) and the most-honored non-serial, the syndicated “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” also with 11.

Christina Ricci revealed on a recent episode of “The View” (via Entertainment Weekly) that she once was threatened over refusing to perform a sex scene in a certain way. The “Yellowjackets” star was asked by the talk show’s hosts how film and television sets have changed over the years for young woman, to which she said they’re heard more clearly when they state their boundaries.
“It’s really great,” Ricci said. “Us older ladies talk about it all the time. It’s amazing to see that they don’t necessarily have to go through the things we had to go through. They’re able to say, ‘I don’t want to do this sex scene,’ ‘I’m not going to be naked.’ They can set boundaries for themselves that we were never allowed to do.”
