- [Penguin admits to the murder of Theo Galavan]
- Oswald Cobblepot: I took Galavan to the river and killed him. Slowly.
- Captain Nathaniel Barnes: You confess to murder?
- Oswald Cobblepot: Yes, I do. Proud of it. I'm not a criminal, you know? I'm just... insane.
- [Harvey Dent walks up next to Captain Barnes, asking him about Jim Gordon's story]
- Harvey Dent: Captivating story.
- Captain Nathaniel Barnes: Yes, it was.
- Harvey Dent: Do you believe him?
- Captain Nathaniel Barnes: I believe your investigation has found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing.
- Harvey Dent: Careful. You're starting to sound like a lawyer.
- [Jim Gordon arrives to the GCPD as Harvey Bullock welcomes him]
- Harvey Bullock: It's a good thing you're here. Caught a weird one last night.
- James Gordon: That's it? No hug? No kiss? No 'Welcome back'?
- Harvey Bullock: [Bullock points to his lips] You don't deserve these lips.
- [Captain Barnes interrogates Penguin about what happened at Theo Galavan's that night]
- Captain Nathaniel Barnes: Why don't you start with the moment right after you knocked me out with that vase?
- Oswald Cobblepot: I'm sorry for that. Such an exquisite vase.
- Captain Nathaniel Barnes: [Barnes' face remains still] This is my amused look.
- [first lines]
- James Gordon: After searching the premises, I, along with Alfred Pennyworth and Selina Kyle, was able to locate the abductee, Bruce Wayne.
- Harvey Dent: Where was he?
- James Gordon: Theo Galavan's residence.
- Harvey Dent: That's when you opened fire?
- James Gordon: Yes. We eliminated the threat posed by Father Creal, and his men, and were able to recover Bruce Wayne.
- [Tabitha Galavan pays a visit to Butch Gilzean]
- Tabitha Galavan: Your security stinks.
- Butch Gilzean: People usually try to get out of this place, not in.
- [Tabitha Galavan tells Butch Gilzean she's fond of him]
- Tabitha Galavan: Strangely enough, I am kind of fond of you. I mean, normally, I go for handsome, intelligent men, not brutes, but... you have an amazing, animal vitality about you.
- Butch Gilzean: I'm smarter than I look.
- Tabitha Galavan: Oh, you must be.
- Butch Gilzean: Oh, funny lady.
- [Officer Holt questions Victor Fries who's loading up his van]
- Officer Holt: GCPD.
- Victor Fries: There a problem, officer?
- Officer Holt: There's been an abduction in the area.
- Victor Fries: How awful.
- [Edward Nygma, Jim Gordon, and Harvey Bullock investigate the liquid nitrogen that could've killed Officer Holt]
- Edward Nygma: Interesting. It took nearly five seconds to freeze this rose in liquid nitrogen.
- James Gordon: So?
- Edward Nygma: Well, so, it would take a human body significantly longer, depending on mass and body fat, of course.
- Harvey Bullock: Well, why would a cop stand around for hours, waiting to get frozen?
- Edward Nygma: She wouldn't. Which means your suspect wasn't using liquid nitrogen. He was using super-cooled liquid helium. It's one of the most effective substances in the world for rapid temperature reduction.
- [Harvey Bullock makes fun of Edward Nygma by calling him a dummy]
- Edward Nygma: [Nygma in a low tone] I don't like being called names, detective.
- James Gordon: Easy, Ed. I'm sure Harvey was just being colorful.
- Harvey Bullock: [Bullock chuckles] Yeah. Yeah. I was just being colorful, Ed. I'm sorry.
- [Captain Barnes shows up at the GCPD with the Penguin in handcuffs]
- Captain Nathaniel Barnes: [the police clap] Silence! What are you a bunch of cheerleaders? This is not a game! This is our job! And this... specimen... this is just one sad pathetic skell. There are plenty of scumbags out there. Plenty. So stop waving your pom-poms and go catch some.
- Oswald Cobblepot: Yeah, stare all you want. Big whoop. You got me. I'm cool. It's all good.
- [Captain Barnes attempts to believe Jim Gordon's story about the murder of Theo Galavan]
- Captain Nathaniel Barnes: Cobblepot backed your story?
- James Gordon: You mean he told the truth.
- Captain Nathaniel Barnes: Yeah. That's what I'm gonna choose to believe.
- James Gordon: That's the right thing to do.
- Captain Nathaniel Barnes: [Barnes extends his hand out] Good to have you back.
- James Gordon: Good to be back, sir.
- Captain Nathaniel Barnes: [in their handshake Barnes pulls Gordon to his face] Jim, I'm trusting you, don't make a fool out of me.
- James Gordon: Yes, sir.
- [Victor Fries wakes up his wife Nora Fries]
- Nora Fries: I was having a dream about you. We were at that little red cabin by the beach. Remember?
- Victor Fries: I remember. Six summers ago. You looked like a movie star.
- Nora Fries: [Nora holds her hand up to Victor's face] You look tired.
- [Victor Fries explains to Nora Fries his plan to save her from the disease killing her]
- Victor Fries: I can freeze you, like we planned. I can bring your temperature down to 200 degrees below zero, and I can stop this disease from killing you.
- Nora Fries: But?
- Victor Fries: I can't bring you back. Not yet. But I will. I'm sorry.
- Nora Fries: It's not that. I'm just thinking about all of those poor mice you're experimenting on.
- Victor Fries: They don't feel anything.
- [Harvey Bullock tells Jim Gordon the good news and the bad news]
- Harvey Bullock: Got some good news and bad news.
- James Gordon: Good news.
- Harvey Bullock: Nygma did some digging, found one company in all of Gotham that makes liquid helium. Wayne Enterprises.
- James Gordon: That's the good news?
- Harvey Bullock: It's not, but I thought 'bad news and more bad news' didn't have the same ring.
- [Edward Nygma asks Penguin in his prison cell if he can help in any way]
- Edward Nygma: Is there anything I can do to help?
- Oswald Cobblepot: I'm beyond help. Forget me, my friend. But if you would take care of my mother's grave, I would be very grateful. If you'd visit occasionally, tell her I'm thinking of her.
- Edward Nygma: I will.
- Oswald Cobblepot: She likes lilies.
- Edward Nygma: Occasional visits, lilies, check.
- [Penguin reveals to the Arkham Asylum inmates that he's the King of Gotham]
- Oswald Cobblepot: [standing on the cafeteria table] There seems to be some confusion. My name... is Oswald Cobblepot. Many of you, no doubt, will have heard of me.
- Oswald Cobblepot: [Penguin sees that most of the inmates haven't heard of him] Some of you, clearly, have not. For those poor, ignorant souls, I offer illumination. I am not a man to be trifled with. Oh, no. I am powerful. I am vicious! I am the King of Gotham.
- Loonie #3: [one of the loonies whispers] He think he's the King of Gotham.
- Loonie #1: [a loonie stands up and screams] I'm King of Gotham!
- Loonie #2: [another follows] No, I am the King of Gotham!
- [Hugo Strange gives his patient Nigel some clinical advice]
- Hugo Strange: Oh, and remember what I told you. See no evil, do no evil.
- [Penguin meets Hugo Strange for the first time]
- Oswald Cobblepot: Am I being punished?
- Hugo Strange: Oh, no. I make it a point to meet all the inmates. It's part of the intake protocol. Though I will ask you to refrain from making speeches atop the cafeteria tables in the future.
- Oswald Cobblepot: [Penguin smiles] I'll do my best.
- [Hugo Strange asks how Penguin is adjusting to Arkham Asylum]
- Hugo Strange: Periods of great transition can bring out great... stress. Surely this must be a traumatic experience for you.
- Oswald Cobblepot: [Penguin chuckles] Please. This is a pillow fight compared to what I've been through.
- [Hugo Strange threatens Penguin with his treatment programs]
- Hugo Strange: Don't worry, here at Arkham we have a number of intensive treatment programs. I am more than confident that we'll be able to facilitate your... rehabilitation.
- Oswald Cobblepot: My what?
- Hugo Strange: Rehabilitation. That's why you're here, after all. To be cured of your sickness. You are sick... aren't you?
- [Victor Fries walks in a store to fill his wife's medication prescription]
- Victor Fries: This medication is for my wife. She's sick. She's in pain.
- Pharmacist: [Victor passes the prescription bottle to the pharmacist] Everyone that comes in here is sick or in pain. Have your doctor write a new prescription. Then I can refill it.
- Victor Fries: [the pharmacist passes the bottle back] Just give me the medication.
- Pharmacist: [Victor passes the bottle back] No.
- Victor Fries: [the pharmacist passes the bottle back as Victor throws it at him] You son of a bitch!
- Pharmacist: Get out! Get him out of here! Get out of here before I call the cops, you kook!
- Victor Fries: You shouldn't have done that.
- Victor Fries: [Victor on the way out] I'll be back.
- [Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock try and pronounce the last name of Nora Fries]
- James Gordon: 'Frees.' Nora Fries. His wife, maybe?
- Harvey Bullock: Yeah, maybe, but it's 'Fries.'
- James Gordon: What do you mean?
- Harvey Bullock: It's pronounced 'Fries.'
- James Gordon: How do you know?
- Harvey Bullock: I'm really good with names.
- [Victor Fries attempts to make a confession to Officer Alvarez]
- Victor Fries: I'd like to make a confession. I'm the man that's been freezing people.
- Alvarez: You too, huh. That makes five in one night. It must be a full moon.
- [Victor Fries witnesses his liquid freeze experiment work on the pharmacist at the GCPD]
- Pharmacist: [the pharmacist walks down the hallway reanimated] Am I dead? Hello? Hello? Am I dead? Don't touch me. Don't touch me!
- Victor Fries: The A-16. It worked. I can't believe it worked.
- [Hugo Strange diagnoses the Penguin's medical condition]
- Hugo Strange: [into his tape recorder] New inmate, Oswald Cobblepot, exhibits signs of extreme narcissism and megalomania. Also seems to have had a rather unhealthy relationship with his deceased mother. Treatments will include immersive aversion therapy and radical psychotropics.
- [last lines]
- Ethel Peabody: [Ms. Peabody shows Hugo Strange the morning newspaper] There's this. Seems someone has solved the problem of the post-cryonic reanimation.
- Hugo Strange: Oh, nonsense. I'm still years from solving that.
- Hugo Strange: [Hugo reads the front cover and sees that it's true] Fascinating. Do you realize what this could mean for our program? Who is this man?
- Ethel Peabody: His name is Victor Fries, but the newspapers have already given him a nickname.
- Hugo Strange: Hello, Mr. Freeze.
