A Great Episode from both perspectives going into the last leg of Season 4
awoolfork30 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Now it seems like this episode has come under fire from a bunch of fans who are crying and acting like the episode destroyed their spirit and yada yada. i thought as a whole that "Skip" was the best of POI since M.I.A mid season and a great episode to get us back into the intense department for the last four episodes of what has been ( from a creative standpoint ) Person Of Interest's best season to date.

Root/Finch/Beth/Samaritan: This was easily the best part of the episode. This is spoiler free but it brings up a secret plan finch put into motion while meeting with a woman professor whistler is friends with named Beth while in hong kong. How does root come into play ? watch for yourself, but no doubt Amy Acker and Michael Emerson steal the show. Especially in the case of Amy Acker who has just been a force this season and has been the best performer this season with only Emerson rivaling her. Much credit and praise to Her and Michael Reese/Frankie/Iris: I feel bad for everyone not involved with the Samaritan related part of this episode because the number was a lot side was a lot of fun with good moments but going up against an acting tour de force of Amy Acker and Michael Emerson in a big time scene you most likely will not win. But i enjoyed Jim getting to work with the awesome Katheryn Winnick as bounty hunter Frankie Wells. Now on to the scene which im sure is the reason people are complaining and claiming the episode was terrible. Iris kissing john and having feelings for him. peoples response is "THATS NOT ETHICAL!!!!" or "SHES NOT A PROFESSIONAL DOCTOR!!!". All of i have to say is... i don't care. I like Iris and her scenes with john this season as well and its good to see john happy ( given he isn't as tied to the overall mythology as finch or root ).

So some people like myself thought the episode was amazing and one of the best since mid season. Many others will cry and say its the worst ( too bad ). But now we move on next week into search and destroy which is one of the four big final episodes of the season and dips us back into the fight against team Samaritan... can't wait!

Strong bounce-back after two lesser episodes
gridoon202415 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, it's got the awesome Katheryn Winnick, a very believable female action star in her own right (she needs no stunt doubles); she should have been on the main cast from the start. But even more compelling is the "secondary" storyline with Finch and Root, and a Trojan horse that Finch had installed on the computer of an unwitting Samaritan accomplice earlier in season 4; their relationship has never been more complicated, and we witness a "series first": the death threat to a number coming from someone inside the group (a variation on an earlier theme of the Machine asking all of them to kill a man). Do not skip "Skip". *** out of 4.

A Beautiful Mess.. this is...
jayant-121226 March 2015
Well, IMHO, POI has lost its focus a bit. No Elias, no brotherhood, Samaritan and Machine both doing mundane things and I had really hoped that this episode will some of the zing of season 4 back.

It tries, and then tosses everything in the air. Reese continued his work to save someone rather unimportant while Finch tried to save someone important. In the end, the writers have given both stories a touch of Samaritan angle to supposedly keep the viewers on their edge.

The only saving grace in this episode is Root and her trauma/ fear of having lost Sameen and Amy has acted that part brilliantly. POI season 4 is supposed to tackle very different topics than saving random people and adding a tinge of Samaritan. Samaritan isn't rosemerry that one adds for aroma/ flavor during cooking, it is the oil of this season.

Anyways, it is not so gloomy either. The episode has continued to make the prospects look even more bleak for team Machine and only a Nolan-esque writing can bring things back to the level we are used to.

All the best :)

The Good, the Bad and The not so Ugly
Asurasura25 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The Good: Finch and Root duo is always a welcome addition on small screen. They have this elder brother and jealous younger sister relationship which makes their chemistry and scenes richer even though there are some plot holes. Finch's humanity is both his major strength and weakness. This episode signified how Root, our friendly sociopath has humane feelings only to the team or say the family of The Machine. She doesn't care about anyone else.

The Bad: I don't know why, but POI has been on a very bad streak of procedural elements since S04E14. They are nailing the serialized part. Frankie Wells character was spunky enough and had great chemistry with Reese which made the initial scenes super fun to watch. Then it got bogged down by unnecessary twists and extra characters. Harper, I don't hate her but I don't like her either that much. She's too smug for her own good.

The not so Ugly: I am in two ways about Reese+Iris relationship. I understand why they have to do something with Reese's character because his back story is dried out and he can't offer any technical expertise when it comes to fighting Samaritan. But the way they build it up, doesn't feel natural. Have to wait and see if they make this plot thread interesting enough.

So, overall a very good first half from both sides but mediocre second half due to the procedural elements I give this a 8/10.

The Ultimate Decision
claudio_carvalho8 March 2024
The Machine delivers the number of Frankie Wells, from Florida, and she is working as hostess of an illegal casino owned by the criminal Ray Pratt. But soon Reese learns that she is a bounty hunter hunting down Ray, who is on the run. When Frankie is ready to capture Ray, Harper rescues him. Now Reese teams up with Frankie to capture Ray. Meanwhile, The Machine delivers the number of Beth Bridges, who is in New York City, and Finch meets her posing of Prof. Harold Whistler. Samaritan and Greer are interested in an algorithm developed by Beth, and Finch has implanted a Trojan Horse in her laptop in Hong Kong. However, Root intends to kill Beth; otherwise, Finch's identity will be disclosed and he will die. Reese meets Dr. Iris Campbell at the police station and she reveals a secret to him.

"Skip" is an episode of "Person of Interest" with several subplots. The lead one, with Katheryn "Lagherta" Winnick, is only reasonable and silly in many moments. Maybe the comedy is to compensate the dramatic segment with Beth Bridges, which is excellent, with great performances. The last and short one, with the revelation of Dr. Campbell, is also great. My vote is eight.

Title (Brazil): "Skip"

Another stupid episode
namstonk3 April 2021
So our hero can beat up men weighing 20st but gets beat by a 7st woman? In fact it's all becoming sillier, a bit of realism wouldn't go amiss. This series has become one of those where you want to give up but hope for a good ending to justify the previous episodes watched. As for the happy-clappy idiots who give every episode a 10/10 review you can only assume that they have special needs.

Tv will always remain tv.
abortamir21 November 2021
This is such a stupid episode, for Reese to stop Frankie just to add some stupid unnecessary scenes. Just to prolong some stupid action, and Root and Finch, dying to protect beth lmao, brainwashing tv. It's just so emotionally cringe.
