The final second of this episode blew me away and gave me goosebumps like few things can.
But wait, this is a low-tier filler episode, literally the (shared) 5th worst rated out of all 283 episodes! It's so incredibly filler, it's about random head-worms that can only say "chips" and "ice cream"! This is as filler as filler can possibly get!
Yes.
And I understand why it's rated this low, but only Adventure Time can make something that is this stupidly random have true heart and complete, wholesome purpose!
Pendleton and the other writers have a special childlike imagination, that no other show examplifies nearly as well as this one!
The fact that they can turn something as completely random and even irritating as Chips and Ice Cream into a complete story arc that inspires to look out for each other and see the world from others perspective is downright incredible! And that in 11 minutes!
And that change in perspective is perfectly showcased in the foreshadowing of the end scene.
The end of the play feels like a lack of sincerity of capitalist adults profiting off of children while spewing out nonsense. (which ironically is how filler episodes like these will be seen)
When it returns in the end of the episode, you feel the fulfilled purpose in unexpectedly complex creatures, that get to live their life in a way they could only have dreamed of during captivity.
This is why Adventure Time is DIFFERENT!
Very close to a 10 for me and deserving of SO much more than the rating implies!
