Typical made for TV schlock
Snootz10 December 2016
You may want to avoid wasting an hour and a half of your life and watch something else. Or enjoy a hobby or something. Almost anything.

While this is somewhat better than typical SyFy movies, it is definitely a rainy Saturday with nothing else to do type film. You can watch this while doing your homework and never skip a beat.

Let's start out with the main synopsis here on IMDb: it's not for this movie. Completely different plot. Whoever filed this film took that. much. care.

A few minutes into the film we find ourselves watching a live reporter commenting- twice no less- "You can see the extensive devastation behind me..." There is no devastation behind her-- just a local diner without a scratch. She follows up with, "As you can see, people are being rushed to the hospital in ambulances." There is one ambulance sitting idly while a woman's blood pressure being slowly taken as she sits peacefully on a gurney.

That sets the logic-stage for the rest of this film. There is plenty of action, several mediocre special effects, the typically goofy and totally-pointless "plot", and highly-predictable ending. This would be a funny movie except that it isn't. The single exception and redeeming factor of the film is the acting by Steve Hanks as the Colonel. Avoiding spoilers regarding his character, Hanks pulls it off with great "don't take yourself too seriously" aplomb. His climactic drama scene is worth making some popcorn. High point of the movie for me. Beyond that none of the actors are either good or truly bad; they just don't have much to work with. Given different roles they might do a lot better.

Other than that, the lead actress is "Sandra Bullock" cute/pretty, the stunt people take sufficiently impressive flips and tumbles, and the script isn't awful. It's just... SyFy. What can ya say?

Nothing to see here
Leofwine_draca23 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Another amateurish TV movie from the SyFy Channel. This one's about an evil government organisation inhabited by people with psychic powers that have the ability to control the weather and cause huge devastation. Some of the members of said organisation discover their scruples and go on the run, pursued by former colleagues. As usual with this genre, this is a mere mish-mash of sci-fi tropes and ideas, one that barely gets off the ground. It's inhabited by dull actors going through the motions, and a script which seems to have been created by artificial intelligence.

Five minutes. That's all you need.

You only need five minutes to change to another movie. Anyone. Or turn off your TV/computer/tablet/cell phone. It's better than see this movie.

What a cheeky movie..

Warning: Spoilers
This film was filled with the usual cheese and corn that you would expect. If you need to just stare at the TV for a hour or two then it's perfect.

But the cheek of it is, towards the end . The baddie was fighting our hero's. And he used the line. "Young fool, only now at the end do you understand".

Now colour me stupid but that's the emperor's line to Luke in return of the Jedi...

That's a bit naughty.

The Make-up has Precedence

They should have spent less on false eyelashes and more on decent writers. I suppose it keeps people in work, available for better things in the future.

Women are different

Usual ill-conceived rubbish. The most ludicrous thing was the suited and booted military types complete with helmets...except, for some reason, the blond WOMAN! Why??

Was für ein billig Schrott, gequirlte Scheiße. Amateur Schauspielerei und Schauspieler von der Straße. Totale Zeitverschwendung. Ab in die Tonne.

Not terrible, kind of fun

Warning: Spoilers
If you can just go with the flow, it's entertaining. Don't try to think or you'll see too many holes in the logic of the psychic powers, though.

Blows alright

The single and only redeeming quality of this truly insulting poor excuse for a so-called movie is the production design. The occasional special effects is pleasing to the eye. The rest? Flush it down with the crap it belongs with. What gets me is the insult of making such a rip-off of concepts and story, and less than amateur acting, and passing it off on the public like we don't see right through it. Who is this made for? Drugged teens similar to the writers and producers responsible? Just insulting.

Oh dear
vicki-ivins22 February 2022
This is pretty sad. A 10 year old with a handycam could do better. Indie films don't have to be bad. The camera work and acting can still be decent and sell the story. Maybe don't try for the big effects on a low budget.

Z Movie

So bad it's funny. Such bad wannabe actors and actresses. (Oops, is it OK to call female actors "actresses"? I'm old school).

Here's a laugh: I only came here because it was so bad and, before I saw the rating, I said "I bet this is a 3". Ha, ha. and it was.

Excuse me while I change channel. Ah, that's better - snooker is on.

Now, where was I? Oh yes, this pile of nonsense. Just don't bother with it.

VFX too big for their britches
l-h-bowerman19 November 2023
Let's start out by saying that I only started watching this because the synopsis Prime had for it was cool, but within a few minutes it was obvious the synopsis was wrong. I only finished the movie because I wanted to see how bad it would get.

The VFX were about the level I'd expect to see in a final project student film. Avoiding spoilers, essentially the VFX stood out like a sore thumb and screamed of someone having lied on their resume about their skill in whatever budget after effects software the film used. About the only thing I can compliment is the lightning VFX - I think they knew this by the amount of overuse in the film.

The actors didn't have a lot to work with from the start, script was weak, full of holes and useless information, and illogical, which resulted in subpar performances. There was a ton of main character's privilege going on.

The budget was clearly razor thin on this project, the costume department flexed their creativity when they decided to dress the military in what looks like dirt biking body armour.

Missed opportunity, dropped ball...
neil-47630 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Some young people with weather-manipulat8ng psychokinetic powers are in a covert quasi-governmental program with a view to them being weaponised by a drooling megalomaniac military nutcase.

I could see the potential. There was the germ of an idea, and there were some halfway decent effects.

I'll tell you what else there was. Perfunctory writing, with no attempt to build character development, genuine plot progression, engaging dialogue, 9r anything else which might capture an audience. Poor casting and worse acting, especially from the Harrison Ford-lite military maniac, whose ludicrous scenery-chewing performance seemed to have come from another film entirely.

I won't criticise direction and production value. Neither was great, but I got a strong feeling that both were the best which could be done with the resources available. But there was a very much better film to be made here than this one.

Not the worst thing I've ever seen on Amazon Prime
CheyenneWY27 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
But that's setting a low bar considering how many got 1 or 2 stars, and some only because they don't allow 0 or -1. So a 3 is actually better than this effort deserves.

The 3 only comes from the fact that it's an intriguing, if frequently overused, premise (hint: Firestarter).k

The acting was wooden, the production values nonexistent - others have already noted the news reporter breathlessly mentioning "the extreme devastation behind me" and "many people rushed to ambulances" on a hilariously serene and undamaged set.

So many plot holes. Why did our heroes just stand there aghast when the pyro set their friend on fire? If only she had someone who could form a shield to protect her, and amplify her powers. But no, they just stood there staring. Why couldn't the seer, who evidently had mind control powers, just will every baddie into compliance? Why didn't she see in advance that the wrong area was targeted? How did she end up getting crushed by a tree? And when she did, why didn't the tree falling on her cause any physical damage? Why was she so callous about blowing away her friends who didn't understand that she was not the enemy?

If you have nothing at all better in your queue to watch, go ahead... but be prepared to fast-forward through the worst of it (so... about 75% that you can skip).
