Taylor Kinney: Kelly Severide

Quotes

  • Kelly Severide : How long is Truck gonna keep this up?

Matthew Casey : I don't have time for this right now!

Kelly Severide : Yeah, make time! I don't mind catching flack, and I don't mind confrontation. What I do mind is a bunch of guys making false accusations and trying to railroad one of my men out of here.

Matthew Casey : One of your old friends, you mean.

Kelly Severide : That has nothing to do with this.

Matthew Casey : THAT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THIS! YOU'RE BLIND BECAUSE OF YOUR FRIENDSHIP WITH THIS GUY!

    Kelly Severide : Okay.

Matthew Casey : You're looking the other way and letting him skate!

Kelly Severide : I'm not blind, Casey. I'm just not gonna go pissing on a firefighter who's proven himself!

Matthew Casey : Did you even check his story?

Kelly Severide : No, I didn't check his story! I take him at his word!

Matthew Casey : There it is, right there. Gospel according to Severide.

Kelly Severide : You know what? Honestly, go screw yourself! I'm sick of it!

Matthew Casey : MAYBE YOU OUGHT TO LISTEN TO THE GUY WHO TOOK YOU IN WHEN YOU WERE ON YOUR ASS!

Kelly Severide : Yeah, I liked that guy a whole lot better when he wasn't a sanctimonious prick!

  • Matthew Casey : [Otis, Dawson, Herrmann, and Mouch are sitting at the Squad table in protest]  Otis. What are you doing?

Otis : Just sitting with my brothers, Lieutenant. I thought this was Firehouse 51, not the Kingdom of Squad 3.

[Truck 81 and Squad 3 glare at each other]

Kelly Severide : We need gas. Let's load back up.

[Severide, Capp, Tony, and Rice get into the Squad truck and drive off]

Otis : Cruz. Pull up a chair, man.

    Joe Cruz : Yeah, sure.

  • Wallace Boden : Okay. Everybody, listen up. Scott Rice has just been dismissed from Firehouse 51. And I'm not gonna kick a man while he's down, so leave it to say his family situation got in the way of his work here. Joe Cruz, will you stand up here for me, please? It has recently been reported to me that Joe Cruz completed his Squad Certification last week.

    Otis : What?

Wallace Boden : And since we now have an opening, it is my honor to welcome Joe Cruz to Squad 3. Joe.. make us proud.

Joe Cruz : Thank you, Chief. I will.

    [looks at Capp and Tony]

    Joe Cruz : I promise.

Otis : What the hell are you doing, man?

Wallace Boden : Brian, you are now the driver of Truck 81.

Randall McHolland : Uh, since Casey's gone, who's gonna be acting lieutenant?

Wallace Boden : I am. Anybody got an issue with that? Good.

    [alarm blares]

    Emergency dispatch : Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 61, Truck 64, Truck 70...

Wallace Boden : Here we go.

Emergency dispatch : Ambulance 96, warehouse fire, 1400 North Cortland Street.

Otis : What, you couldn't have said something? After all this, you're joining them.

Christopher Herrmann : Otis, you driving or what?

    Otis : Yeah. Let's go.

Kelly Severide : Hey, Cruz. Do your job.

  • Wallace Boden : Shut the door.

Kelly Severide : I went to Air Mask and spoke to Jerry. You never took your regulator in.

Scott Rice : Sure, I did.

Kelly Severide : No, you didn't. And you lied to my face. You're off Squad 3. Effective immediately.

Scott Rice : That's it? You don't want to hear my side?

Kelly Severide : You have a side?

Scott Rice : Look, since Angie died, it's, uh... I'm all Logan's got, Kelly. And after the Chicago Med incident, well, I started to think about him, and what if he lost both of us? Hmm? He'd be an orphan. With no one to raise him?

Kelly Severide : Scott, there's a lot of men with families in the CFD. But everyone, when they report for this job, puts it all out there. Everyone. You weren't ready, Scott. You just weren't.

Scott Rice : That's it? Pink slip and see you later?

  • Wallace Boden : Chief Tiberg.

Chief Joel Tiberg : It's been brought to my attention, Wallace, that one of your firefighters threatened Batallion Chief Dan Weiss with violence at the blaze today. I need a name, Chief. Now.

    Otis : I did it.

    Joe Cruz : No, Otis.

Otis : Yep. It was me.

Joe Cruz : No. It was me

Chief Joel Tiberg : Well, who was it?

Kelly Severide : It was me.

Randall McHolland : I did it, Chief.

    Capp : I did it.

    Tony : It was me.

Sylvie Brett : I did it.

Jessica Chilton : I did it.

Chief Joel Tiberg : What is this? You don't think I can find out who it was?

Wallace Boden : Yeah, I do. But I gotta ask. Why the hell would you want to?

Chief Joel Tiberg : Firehouse 51.

  • Kelly Severide : Hey, bud, you seen Jerry?

    Air Mask employee : Jerry!

Jerry : Kelly, how you been?

    Kelly Severide : I'm good.

Jerry : How's your old man?

Kelly Severide : He's, uh, eh, you know him. He's the same.

Jerry : I could tell you some stories.

Kelly Severide : Yeah, I've heard them all. Listen, one of my guys brought in a regulator a few shifts ago. I was just wondering how it looked.

    Jerry : 51, right?

    Kelly Severide : Yeah.

Jerry : There's nothing come through here from 51. Maybe a K-12 saw. That was seven, eight months ago.

Kelly Severide : No, I'm talking about a regulator.

Jerry : No, I understand. Didn't come through here.

    Kelly Severide : You sure?

Jerry : Birthdays, anniversaries, those I forget. Equipment serviced here, never. No one from 51 dropped off a regulator, Kelly.

  • Scott Rice : I got a confession to make.

    Kelly Severide : Yeah?

Scott Rice : I can be a jerk.

Kelly Severide : That's about right, yeah.

Scott Rice : Look, I know all the rumors that fly around CFD about me and the ones that fly around here. I'm no ducker, Kelly. And man-to-man, I can do this job. I shouldn't have said what I said to you the other day about our friendship. I, uh, I was frustrated. Look, I apologize.

Kelly Severide : I got your back, you know that.

Scott Rice : Yeah, I know, yeah. More than anyone.

  • Matthew Casey : What are you gonna do about Rice?

Kelly Severide : What's that mean?

Matthew Casey : No one's gunning for him here. And if Otis thinks he's ducking...

Kelly Severide : He wasn't ducking!

Matthew Casey : You wanna believe that, fine. But 51 isn't 51 right now, and it's because of him. That's a fact.

Kelly Severide : Casey, drop it!

    [alarm blares]

Emergency dispatch : Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 61. Gas leak, 6111 South Mayfield.

  • Scott Rice : We're over 100% of the lower explosive limit. Oxygen's under 19%.

    Tony : Should we vent?

Kelly Severide : No, no, hold up. The only reason why this place hasn't exploded yet is the gas is too rich to burn.

Neighbor : Oh my God. Is Edna okay?

Kelly Severide : Uh, ma'am, it's fine. It's just a gas leak. Mailman said the lady's out of town.

Neighbor : No, she's in there. She came home last night.

Kelly Severide : Hey, uh, uh, Squad 3 to Main, what's the ETA on the gas company?

Emergency dispatch : Ten minutes out.

Scott Rice : Hey, let's go get her.

    Kelly Severide : Yeah?

    [Rice nods]

Kelly Severide : Mask up. We're going in.

    Scott Rice : Here.

    [gives Capp his gas reader]

Kelly Severide : Hey, Casey, there's a woman inside. We're going in.

Matthew Casey : Severide, do not enter. We're getting high readings here. This place will explode.

Kelly Severide : Negative. We're going in.

Matthew Casey : LEL readings are high! Wait for the gas company!

Scott Rice : Ready? Let's do this.

Kelly Severide : Tony, hit it. Go!

[he and Rice enter the house]

    Kelly Severide : We're in.

Matthew Casey : We need to get into the basement and shut off the gas before Squad blows this place to hell.

    Otis : I got this.

Christopher Herrmann : All right, Otis, you got to move fast. Strike!

Capp : You got to move, Severide! You're running out of time!

  • Mailman : There's a smell of gas coming from 6111. An elderly woman by the name of Edna Miller lives there, but she's out of town for the week.

Matthew Casey : I can smell it from here.

Kelly Severide : Anyone else live here?

Mailman : Just her and her dog.

Kelly Severide : There's no shutoff outside. Must be in the basement.

Matthew Casey : Truck 81 to Main. We need the gas company to 6111 South Mayfield ASAP.

Dispatcher : Message received, Truck 81.

Kelly Severide : Hey, guys, grab your mask and a four gas monitor. Go to the rear. Check levels.

Matthew Casey : Take readings in front.

    Randall McHolland : Got it.
