The Wedding Party and the Tunnel 85
claudio_carvalho11 March 2024
The Machine delivers a marriage license number of the millionaire heiress Phoebe Turner and the public defender Will O'Brien, instead of their social security numbers. Reese is invited by Phoebe's sister, Janna, to date her in the wedding and Finch poses as Will's uncle from Dublin, Ralph. Reese and Finch suspect that billionaire father Kent Turner, who creates and races horse and is accused by groups of doping the animals to win the races, may not want the marriage of his daughter with a poor man. Root poses as cook of the catering and helps Reese to find the truth. Before arriving in the wedding party, Root gives to Fusco the next number delivered by The Machine. He is the city planner Howard Carpenter. Fusco follows him and sees Howard meeting Bruce Moran and overhears they talk about the demolition of Tunnel 85. Fusco goes to the place and finds the bodies of Howard, Bruce, Krupa and several other missing persons that Fusco is working. However, there is an explosion and the tunnel collapses over Fusco. Shaw is confused and unable to distinguish what is simulation and what is real.

"A More Perfect Union" is a filler episode of "Person of Interest", with a plot with three segments. The segment of Reese and Finch is good, but the weaker. Fusco chasing the missing persons is great and Shaw unable to know whether she is in the real world or in the virtual world is the best. My vote is eight.

Twisted Sister, Missing Persons, and Wedding Belles
skipperkd24 May 2016
Warning: Spoilers
(Vague spoilers). I revised and slightly upgraded this review after watching the episode a second time. It grew on me a bit.

A MORE PERFECT UNION was okay, but one could skip most of it without losing continuity. It is one of the cutest episodes, offering up some entertaining fan-appeal featuring Finch, Reese, and Root at a wedding. Humor and action served up with sexy strippers and thoroughbred steeds, embellished with clever quips, lucky horseshoes, and unlikely karate flips. It's also a little bittersweet, toasting lost dreams with the finest bourbon, thanks to a gorgeous tuxedo-clad Reese.

Fusco's mission felt solid and was far more compelling than the wedding op, and I multi-tasked during Shaw's virtual reality scenes, but I'd watch the whole thing again just to hear Emerson sing Twisted Sister: "We're Not Gonna Take It" at the reception. A traditional Irish folk song. Lol. Who knew? (Great fight song for Team Machine.)

Basic plot outlines:

To prevent a murder, Reese and Finch attend a wedding weekend in horse country, upstate New York. Root joins them, mostly because she's lonely, but also to talk with Finch about how to give the Machine an edge over Samaritan. Reese and Root team up to take down the hired guns.

Meanwhile, back in NYC, detective Fusco takes Bear (yay for Bear!) on a hunt for missing persons. Based on a tip from Root, he also tracks down a man named Carpenter who takes bribes for city demolition permits. Bruce Moran is involved in this plot thread. Sadly.

All this occurs while Greer and Samaritan's young avatar Gabriel try to convince Shaw that they do more good than does Team Machine, in virtual reality scenes. A change of tactics, appealing to Shaw's logic and her training to destroy terrorist and protect America. Mildly interesting at best, but at least we see the source of the nuclear bomb scene in the series montage. I hope we are done with virtual reality. Free the Shaw!

Fusco's fate is left hanging in the balance at the end. Hopefully Bear can help him.

Enough of numbers already
truebatmantd26 January 2023
The show has only 7 episodes to go before its finale and they are still wasting time on numbers and side stories as if this is the first season. These "murder of the week" type of stories already got old starting second season and there is no reason to invest so much time on them in the final season of the show after the show already established itself.

No one cares about these "number of the week" side stories anymore and these should have been dropped already. They should have instead focused on the main story which is about to conclude in less than 10 episodes anyways. What's the point of still wasting time on this stuff no one cares about?

Destroyed
jhnrchrdqnn24 May 2016
Warning: Spoilers
What can I say in 43 minutes they succeeded in destroying what was once one of the best shows ever on television. The scene with Finch singing, totally pointless. Another VR simulation, a total ripoff. Fusco in danger or dead, at this point who cares. Personally I feel that none of the remaining episodes can make up for this travesty! Please do everyone a favor and do not show the remaining episodes, since they will only will cause disappoint. Anyone involved in this episode should be banned from ever working in television again. Should never have been renewed. I do not know why I need ten lines of text to describe what was wrong with this episode, when one word can sum it up: Putrid
