What can you say about a film that combines elements from Wizard of Oz, David and Goliath, and Jack and the Beanstalk all to different degrees? Well if that film is Jake and the Giants you can say. "Well done." Jake and the Giants, starts out a bit like the Hobbit a quaint village who's people exist through farming relatively safe from the crazy disjointed world that exists around them That world is full of greed, murder, slavery and inhabited by a world of giants who care about nothing except their own desires. When the two worlds collide the story picks up momentum. Utilizing a cadre of flying monkey's and their Dragon Boat, the Giants kidnap members of Shilow Valley taking them far up into the mountains and forcing them to work in their dark dank dingy mines. The action picks up from there as the youngest and smallest in the village realize - "You are never too small" to change your world and they set out on an adventure to rescue their fellow villagers.
