A good laugh
sunshine_gedo223 July 2023
Allen is doing here what he is doing the best, creating a comedy sketch that can easily turned into a theatrical act, a rebellious young woman is invading the house, two old people are terrified, and then a surprise after the other one.

"She is a fugitive and she Ate my chicken!" Allen is giving us a good laugh here.

The entire episode is happening in real time, from waking up and discovering that somebody is at home, till meeting here, misunderstanding is happening then we get to know her background and then police is arriving.

This short episode can work as a lesson for young screenwriters, how to write a good scene and generate laughs from absurd situations.

The entire series is not the finest work of Allen, but this episode show us that he still can do it.

Sad.

The plot:

An unwelcome intruder causes terrible panic and tension in a usually placid household.

When i was a kid, there was no bigger Allen fan than I.

I would even stalk him at the club he played Tuesday nites (he's arrive in a Rolls Royce!).

Time has passed and Allen need to stay behind the camera.

He hasn't been funny in decades.

Elaine May obviously had a stroke before this was filmed and it's covered up by making her an alcoholic.

Miley Cyrus is introduced in this episode and she is horrible.

In total it's a very sad state of affairs.
