She Came from the Woods is a brand-new short film written, directed, and produced by The Bloomquist Brothers (Erik and Carson); whose most-recent short, Ghost Tour, is currently on Crypt TV, and whose hard-boiled short film, The Cobblestone Corridor, we reviewed way back in 2015….
After a brief introduction, with the camp counselors all sitting round a campfire telling a scary story a la Are You Afraid of the Dark?, She Came From the Woods wastes no time getting to the horrific action. But with a running time of just over 12 minutes, there’s not that much time to begin with!
The set up is brief. There’s an urban legend that says you will call the evil spirt of Esther – a witch who...

Halloween may be over, but that doesn’t mean the horror films stop from rolling in! I’ve got another fantastic short for you to watch today called Ghost Tour. It’s simple story set in the year 1973, and “after the final ghost tour at a museum with a legendary dark past, veteran docent Richard Sawyer experiences his first real encounter with the paranormal.”
Ghost Story was directed by Erik Bloomquist and even though the story is simple, the cinematography is beautiful, especially in the old historic house setting. The film was shot at The Mark Twain House and Museum in Connecticut.
I appreciate that this horror short doesn’t rely on blood and gore to get the creepy factor. That creepiness is earned through good use of mystery and suspense in its storytelling. Everything falls into place as the story is told and it concludes with a great twist ending.
