Exclusive: HBO Max has rounded out its cast of series regulars for comedy pilot Wild Life, which is fronted by Izabella Alvarez in the role of Ciara.
The cast includes Nadine Velazquez (Queens), Annie Funke (The Offer), Nabeel Muscatwalla (Good Trouble), Ava Lalezardeh (The Pursuit), Brielle Barbusca (Young Sheldon), Cyrus Arnold (Diary of a Wimpy Kid), Jessi Case (Mother’s Day), Chrystal Campbell, and Beau Minnier.
From writers and executive producers Jason Ubaldi, Chris Peterson, and Bryan Moore, Wild Life follows a diverse group of high school teens who are struggling with personal and social issues who spend their school hours working at the local animal rescue as part of an alternative educational program.
While comedy comes from their quirky offbeat personalities and the unique setting of “high school at the animal rescue,” the series also will have heart as working with animals helps them deal with their personal issues with friends and at home.

Istanbul’s charming stray cat population has already gotten the big screen treatment — care of Ceyda Torun’s loving 2017 hit documentary “Kedi” — and now it’s time for the city’s equally compelling canine community to get the same cinematic story. Elizabeth Lo’s feature documentary debut, “Stray,” follows a trio of engaging strays as their lives unfold around the big city, complete with adventures, drama, and the formation of some heart-warming bonds with many of the city’s human denizens.
Per its official synopsis, the film “explores what it means to live as a being without status or security, following three strays — Zeytin, Nazar, and Kartal — as they embark on inconspicuous journeys through Turkish society that allow us an unvarnished portrait of human life — and their own canine culture. Zeytin, fiercely independent, embarks on adventures through the city at night; Nazar, nurturing and protective, easily befriends the humans around her; while Kartal,...

Either the last petal fell from the “Beauty and the Beast” enchanted rose, or everyone was busy calling mom on Sunday night. ABC’s Mother’s Day “Disney Family Singalong 2” halved the rating last month’s first at-home special got.
The initial “Disney Family Singalong” on April drew a 2.6 rating among adults 18-49 and 10.3 million total viewers, according to Nielsen’s Live + Same Day numbers. Sunday’s follow-up special at 7/6c received a 1.3 rating in the key demo and 5.7 million total viewers.
We’ll get some delayed-viewing statistics for the new one in a few days — and then it will migrate over to streaming service Disney+.
ABC won primetime in the demo last night, but was the runner up in total viewers. That honor went to CBS and the evening’s most-watched show, “60 Minutes.”

The episode kicked off by focusing on April Buencamino, a mother of two and nurse manager who's been working in a Covid-19 unit at her hospital. Buencamino joined Smith, her mom, Adrienne Banfield Norris, and her daughter, Willow Smith, on the show by video and they shared her story with viewers, including that her hospital received 6,000 N95 masks donated by Sandra Bullock. While Buencamino said she didn't even know the Oscar winner was at the hospital to donate the personal...

ESPN’s excellent docuseries “The Last Dance” won’t be the only Disney-owned property focused on a three-peat this Sunday. Sister network ABC is in a position to win its third straight Mother’s Day in Nielsen’s broadcast TV ratings. ABC will have to pull it off without steady performer “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” the 7 p.m. show that’s paved the way for wins each of the past two Mother’s Days (and countless other Sundays). But with the “Disney Family Singalong: Volume II” on the schedule instead, ABC shouldn’t suffer for a lack of “Afhv.” The first “Disney Family Singalong,” which aired on Thursday, April 16, scored a 2.6 rating/13 share among adults 18-49 and 10.4 million total viewers, according to Nielsen. That demo number made the special television’s highest-rated show of the season on any network since ABC’s Feb. 9 Oscar telecast. Also Read: Why ABC Fast-Tracked...

London-based documentary distributor Dogwoof has acquired dog documentary “Stray,” which was slated to bow at April’s now-postponed Tribeca Film Festival.
The doc specialist has picked up world rights to the Turkey-set film, which also marks Dogwoof’s first dog-centric sales documentary.
The doc takes a canine’s eye-view of the streets of Istanbul, and follows three dogs — Zeytin, Nazar and Kartel — as they roam the city, offering a unique take on Istanbul and its inhabitants. The dogs’ lives ultimately intersect when they bond with a group of young Syrians who share the streets with them.
The deal was brokered by Oli Harbottle, head of distribution and acquisitions at Dogwoof, working directly with the filmmakers. Dogwoof will be presenting the film to buyers in the coming weeks with a view to releasing the film in cinemas this fall.
“Stray” was directed, shot and edited by Elizabeth Lo and produced by Lo and Shane Boris.

Sarah Paulson’s career has been growing in leaps and bounds throughout the last several years and it’s only continuing to climb as she’s been a mainstay when it comes American Horror Story, at least until the previous season, 1984. But as one could guess she’s not even close to slowing down as she’s become one of the most intense actresses around, a statement that Jordan Crucchiola of Vulture might readily agree with. It’s not hard to see why she’s viewed in such a light either as the next thriller she’s set to appear in, Run, is already looking as though

Days of Our Lives fans are still looking at what all happened last Mother’s Day. Things were not always what they seemed to be for us as we watched the time jump in the past few months, so we’ve been able to see far more than we thought possible in that time. But, it happened, and we got

Captain America: Civil War scorched the weekend box office, bringing in the fifth largest opening weekend of all-time. The massive debut contributed to Disney bringing in over $200 million this weekend as the studio became the fastest to cross the $1 billion mark in domestic earnings in just 128 days, decimating the 165 day record set by Universal just last year. And while Disney was setting records, the weekend also saw a stellar comeback for Open Road's Mother's Day as it took advantage of its holiday namesake. With an estimated $181.79 million opening weekend, Civil War not only scored the fifth largest opening of all-time, it is the third largest opening for a film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (McU). In fact, compared to the other standalone franchises in the McU, the Captain America franchise continues to show the greatest film-over-film growth as Civil War's opening is a 91.3% increase over the opening for Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

'Jungle Book' Dominates Domestically While 'Captain America: Civil War' Explodes in Overseas Opening
It's another weekend on top for Disney's The Jungle Book as the live-action family feature dropped only 31% and made $20 million more than all three newcomers combined. As for said new releases, the kidnapped cat comedy Keanu led the pack over Mother's Day and Ratchet & Clank, though not a single one of them topped $10 million. Meanwhile, Captain America: Civil War led the charge overseas, bringing in a top 15, all-time international opening, though falling just shy of Avengers: Age of Ultron's number from last year. In the #1 position for a third straight weekend, The Jungle Book brought in an estimated $42.4 million as the film's domestic cume climbs to $252 million, well on its way to becoming 2016's fourth $300+ million domestic grosser. Internationally it added another $57.1 million this weekend as its global cume now stands at $684.7 million, moving it into the all-time top 100. In a battle for second with The Huntsman: Winter's War,...

Three new releases hit theaters this weekend as the "official" start of the summer movie season is now just one week away. This year, however, has had more than its share of box office blockbusters ahead of the summer movie season with three films already topping $300 million domestically and a fourth well on its way to doing that same. The fourth film is, of course, Disney's The Jungle Book, which will be unfazed by this week's new offerings as it will maintain the #1 position at the box office for a third straight week in a row. Said new titles vying for a position in the top ten include Warner's comedy Keanu, Open Road's Mother's Day and Gramercy's animated release Ratchet & Clank. Meanwhile, Captain America: Civil War began its international debut just yesterday and is off to a great start, banking $14.9 million from 15 territories, just behind the performance of Avengers: Age of Ultron last year.
