Differs greatly from the original short story by Lawrence Block to avoid copyright infringement. Still bares more then enough obvious similarities in both plot points and character names, despite some of them were changed greatly and toned down.
Instead of ice pick mentioned in the original short story Kauperton buys a special knife for the frozen meat. Most likely the change was made due to source material being incorrectly translated into Russian in the first place.
Alfred Hitchcock: as an homage to Hitchcock's famous cameos he has a few posthumous appearances in this episode: Hitchcock is seen on the cover of "The New Statesman" on the newsstand (approx. 9 min.), and then twice on posters near the restaurant (13 min. and 46 min.). Also a poster shown on the street on 1 hour and 2 minutes into the episode has his name on it.
