Sword of the Demon Hunter Anime to Release this June with 1-Hour Premiere - Main Image
Sword of the Demon Hunter finally confirmed its June release date recently. What’s more, the anime is also confirmed to have an hour-long premiere, continuing the recent trend of nearly feature-length first episodes.
Even though the anime has yet to get another trailer, a new one should be released in the coming weeks. Hopefully, it will finally show off more clips that give fans a better idea of what to expect.
Yokohama Animation Laboratory Is Sword of the Demon Hunter’s Studio
The show’s previous trailer was released back in February, and it features short clips of the new anime that show off the animation by studio Yokohama Animation Laboratory.
While it may not be the most talked-about studio out there, it does have a strong lineup of shows released over the past years.

It’s been one year since Columbia Pictures / Screen Gems brought The Pope’s Exorcist (read our review Here), a supernatural thriller starring Russell Crowe, to theatres. Just two weeks after the film was released, our friends at Bloody Disgusting heard that a sequel was in development… but then things went quiet for a while. Crowe recently said that The Pope’s Exorcist was meant to kick off a trilogy, but the franchise’s progress had been slowed down by “a change of studio heads.” Things have apparently been worked out, though, because producer Jeff Katz of Worldwide Katz has just taken to social media to announce that the Pope’s Exorcist sequel has been given the greenlight!
Katz wrote, “Amorth Nation — I just got the call. It’S Officially Happening!!! “È un seguito, amici miei.”* Thank you to the amazing #ThePopesExorcist fans. You made this happen. Gas up your Lambretta – and get ready to ride.

As Marvel Studios attempts to recover from a series of underperformances, the company hopes to recapture fans with some returning favorites like the revival of Daredevil, as well as Jon Bernthal’s incarnation of The Punisher. And one of the most-anticipated films to come out this year will be the Ryan Reynolds-Hugh Jackman frenemy team-up in Deadpool & Wolverine. As Marvel Studios reclaim certain film properties like the X-Men as they did long ago with Spider-Man, fans are hoping for a thrilling and faithful adaptation of Marvel’s first family in The Fantastic Four.

Overlord has consistently been one of the most popular and successful isekai series for some years now, definitely becoming a classic of the genre. Based on the 16-volume (as of the time of writing) light novel series by Kugane Maruyama, the Overlord anime series premiered back in 2015, and so far, four seasons have been released, along with Ova works and compilation movies. But, when the fourth season was originally announced, an anime film was also confirmed, and we can finally reveal that the upcoming Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom movie released its first trailer and confirmed a Fall 2024 release window.
The Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom movie was announced back in 2021 alongside the fourth season, with the two works adapting the Holy Kingdom Arc of the series. The series aired first, adapting volumes 10, 11, and 14, while it has been confirmed that the movie would be adapting volumes 12 and 13. After the release of some teaser visuals,...

David Robert Mitchell (It Follows) is at the helm of a mysterious new genre movie for Bad Robot and Warner Bros., starring Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway. Per Variety, Sundance breakout star Maisy Stella (My Old Ass) has nabbed the third lead role.
Maisy Stella joins previously announced cast members Ewan McGregor (Doctor Sleep) and Anne Hathaway (Colossal).
Plot details remain tightly guarded since the project was announced, but the movie is categorized as a thriller. Considering Bad Robot is behind the Cloverfield films, Overlord, Super 8, and more, it feels safe to presume the untitled project will be a genre thriller of some sort.
Originally reported by Jeff Sneider and John Rocha on their show “The Hot Mic” last year, the mysterious new project is reportedly set in the 1980s… and features dinosaurs?! If so, Hathaway’s turn in Colossal might make her well poised to take on the prehistoric beasts.

Damien Chazelle’s Babylon will beat Santa to the Christmas punch by going wide on December 23. Initially, Babylon would have a limited release on Christmas Day in New York and Los Angeles before expanding wide in January. Now, the Chazelle-directed period piece is occupying prime holiday real estate and is competing against movies like 20th Century’s Avatar: The Way of Water and Universal/Dreamworks Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
According to the official synopsis for Babylon, the film is “an original epic set in 1920s Los Angeles led by Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, and Diego Calva, with an ensemble cast including Jovan Adepo, Li Jun Li, and Jean Smart. A tale of outsized ambition and outrageous excess, Babylon traces the rise and fall of multiple characters during an era of unbridled decadence and depravity in early Hollywood.”

Fifteen years ago, the term “elevated” and “horror” rarely shared the same sentence, lest someone was talking about the setting of Snakes on a Plane; found footage was considered the spookiest new trend in terrifying audiences; and at least according to box office receipts, October signaled one thing: It was time for a new Saw movie.

In 2014, Russell Crowe made his directorial debut with “The Water Diviner,” about an Australian farmer who travels to Turkey after World War II to find his three sons who never returned. Critics weren’t high on the movie, but it fared well with audiences; at least with those who saw it. The film was a modest box-office success, making 38.2 million off its 22.5 million budget.

Azrael: Everything We Know So Far About The Samara Weaving Action Horror From The You're Next Writer
The reign of Samara Weaving in the horror genre is far from over. Deadline exclusively revealed that the "Ready or Not" actress will be starring in a mysterious new movie from screenwriter Simon Barrett, who wrote "You're Next" and "The Guest." Simply titled "Azrael," this film is billed as an action-horror, an intriguing genre mashup that can be associated with movies like "Predator" and "Overlord."
While little is known about the movie, we do know that it will likely be Barrett's last horror movie for an indefinite amount of time. The screenwriter, a longtime collaborator of director Adam Wingard, revealed this in a Twitter post.
"Azrael is the reason I've spent the last month in Estonia working with my friends E.L. Katz and Dan Kagan. This will also be my last horror project for a long while, because we're putting everything scary we've got into this one. Very excited, but...

The found footage creature feature Cloverfield was a big hit for Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot Productions when it was released in 2008, so it’s no surprise that it kicked off a franchise. The only surprises are that it took eight years for a sequel to come along, and when Cloverfield did become a franchise it wasn’t with a direct sequel. The Cloverfield name was used to create an anthology series. 2016’s 10 Cloverfield Lane was quickly followed by 2018’s The Cloverfield Paradox… and now Deadline has broken the news that another Cloverfield movie is coming our way, with Under the Shadow‘s Babak Anvari signed on to direct.
Anvari will be working from a screenplay by iBoy writer Joe Barton… but, as you would expect from Bad Robot, details are being kept under wraps. It’s not clear if Anvari’s Cloverfield movie will be a sequel to the original film,...

In today’s era of film-going, it can often feel like you’ve glimpsed a film from every angle before you even purchase a ticket. As the marketing machine spits out stills, trailers, featurettes, and TV spots at a perpetual rate many months before a release date–not to mention the set visits, press junkets, early screening tweets, and full reviews–it’s a miracle when a film can feel like a fresh experience. In a perfect synergy of events, the only company that could challenge the status quo and do such a surprise debut (Netflix) acquired perhaps the only franchise (Cloverfield) where skipping a theatrical release wouldn’t damage the bottom line and would generate enough excitement to eventize it. So, following a Super Bowl spot, just a few hours later, The Cloverfield Paradox was released, and, well, it’s now quite clear why Paramount sold it off. Not...

Update: Read our review of The Cloverfield Paradox.
Two years ago, Dan Trachtenberg’s directorial debut 10 Cloverfield Lane arrived, bringing new life to the sci-fi franchise initially launched in 2008. Following the success of the film, it was revealed that J.J. Abrams would continue developing more entries and the newest will arrive with God Particle aka The Cloverfield Paradox, and it’s coming very, very soon.
Directed by another newcomer, Julius Onah, it stars Daniel Brühl, Elizabeth Debicki, Aksel Hennie, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Chris O’Dowd, John Ortiz, David Oyelowo, and Zhang Ziyi and follows a group of astronauts in orbit when the Earth disappears. In a special, unprecedented surprise, the first trailer has landed and Netflix has announced it is coming out after the Super Bowl concludes.
We’ll also be getting another entry in the franchise soon as /Film recently reported that the upcoming WWII-set thriller Overlord is actually a Cloverfield film.

It looks as if Cloverfield 4 is already in the can - even as we await more details of Cloverfield 3...
The third Cloverfield film, which I'm expecting wholeheartedly to be called Cloverfield Station, is due for release (in the Us at least) in April. What we don't know yet, not for sure, is if it will be released into cinemas or directly onto Netflix, as rumours are suggesting.
Meanwhile, the fourth film, which was shot under the title Overlord and which I'm half-heartedly expecting to be called Operation Cloverfield on release, has already been completed. Not many details of this fourth film are well known, but we've got some details to share.
So, Cloverfield 4 is set during World War II. It's a war movie, which is a change for this sci-fi series. But only so much of a change, because it's a sci-fi war movie.

J.J. Abrams' WWII Film Overlord is Confirmed to be the Fourth Cloverfield Film and It's Done Filming
It's been speculated for some time now that the J.J. Abrams-produced film Overlord would be a part of the Cloverfield universe, but now it has been confirmed by sources close to /Film. The film has already completed shooting and the last we heard, Paramount Pictures will be releasing it in October of this year.
The film stars Wyatt Russell and Jovan Adepo as American paratroopers that are dropped into enemy territory outside of Normandy during the D-Day invasion. It's not until they arrive at their target they realize that they are a part of something more complicated than a simple military operation. They are forced into battle against supernatural forces as part of a Nazi experiment.
Overlord was directed by Julius Avery (Son of a Gun) from a screenplay written by Billy Ray and Mark L. Smith (Captain Phillips and The Revenant), which means the script is going to be really good.

Remember Overlord? The supernatural-tinged WWII thriller starring Wyatt Russell (22 Jump Street, Black Mirror) and Jovan Adepo of Fences fame? Turns out it really is Cloverfield 4 – and it’s already finished production.
/Film has the scoop, revealing that Paramount and Bad Robot’s fourth Cloverfield movie, one directed by Julius Avery (Son of a Gun), revolves around a plot that wouldn’t look out of place in a Wolfenstein game.
The year is 1944. They find themselves fighting against supernatural forces, part of a Nazi experiment.”

In a shocking turn of events, the Cloverfield series plans on going back in time to WWII in Cloverfield 4! While that's plenty surprising, what's even more mind-boggling is that Cloverfield 4 is already finished filming!
I suppose we shouldn't be surpised anymore when it comes to Cloverfield movies, and yet J.J. Abrams and the team with Bad Robot find ways to make moves that no one could've ever saw coming. Today's Cloverfield surprise comes after much speculation over the fate of Cloverfield 3, a.k.a. God Particle, a.k.a. Cloverfield Station, and if it will be heading to theaters or if Paramount will be selling the series to Netflix. If they did do the latter, the 4th Cloverfield in the Universe may not be too far behind.

Our friends at Slashfilm have issued a report today confirming that Cloverfield 4, a.k.a. Overlord, is a WWII thriller that has the following synopsis.

A year ago there was some speculation that the announced film from Bad Robot and Paramount could be another entry in the series, but I wrote that off as fan theory as Paramount has a deal with Abrams that certainly isn't all about Cloverfield. But apparently, /Film have received confirmation from a source that Overlord is indeed Cloverfield 4 [Continued ...]...

Who could have predicted that 2008’s hand-held monster movie Cloverfield would spawn a franchise we’d still be talking about 10 years later? 2016’s surprise sort-of-sequel 10 Cloverfield Lane provided our first look at the anthology-like nature of this loose franchise umbrella, and while we wait to see a trailer for God Particle (now possibly titled Cloverfield Station) and learn when and how we’re […]

Still shrouded in secrecy, the third Cloverfield movie, also known as God Particle (although that title is not official), was recently given a new April release date from Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot Productions, and in a new interview with Collider, actor Daniel Brühl commented briefly on the outer space setting of the new movie.
Speaking with Collider, Brühl didn't give away any major plot details for the new Cloverfield movie, but he did discuss researching to prepare for the space station setting and how the movie is based on a "near-future scenario":
"I went to UCLA and I met some very brilliant students and scientists there. It was only 2% of the information that I was given by them that I remotely understood. It’s based on many interesting ideas about a near future scenario, which is an interesting vision of what could happen or what might happen with the Earth.

“Cloverfield 3” hasn’t been officially announced as such, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t coming. The movie formerly known as “God Particle” is currently scheduled for release on April 20, despite not having an official title; considering that “10 Cloverfield Lane” underwent a similarly secretive campaign, that’s no great surprise. It would appear that this new “Cloverfield” has begun its viral-marketing campaign, as a strange new website has emerged that bears its marks.
