The Horde of Vampires
claudio_carvalho25 January 2019
Justine has a meeting with the police officers at the command center and decides to get rid of the vampires in the underground of the Central Park. Fet discloses that he will destroy the vampire nest with light bombs. Fet teams up with Captain Kate Nelson and her team but first he goes home to get the explosives where he meets Dutch and Eph. Kelly and Thomas Eichhorst assign a feeler to protect Zach that befriends the feeler as a pet. Out of the blue, Kelly and Eichhorst ask him to pack what he needs since the place is compromised and Zach leaves a book with a message. Gus and Angel are clearing out a tunnel with a small group and after a couple of incidents, they stumble upon Fet and Kate that have lost the police officers. Gus decides to join and help them while Angel leaves the tunnels with the prisoner called Carmen. Fet blow up the nest and when Justine is celebrating, she discovers that a horde of vampires is attacking her men in the Central Park.

"The Battle of Central Park" is an engaging episode of "The Strain" with an amazing horde of vampires. Now it seems to be difficult to the human defeat the vampires and the only hope is Setrakian and his Occido Lumen or maybe Eph and his research. Dutch´s strike on Eichhorst is excellent. My vote is eight.

Warning: Spoilers
This review contains spoilers for the season 3 episode of The Strain entitled "The Battle of Central Park".

The episode follows multiple perspectives as the strigoi intensify their attacks on the city. Vasiliy Fet embarks on a mission to destroy a strigoi nest. Zach receives a feeler to protect him. Eph continues searching for Zach with Dutch.

This episode has what I was expecting in The Strain since the start of the show. I wanted an episode where the vampires finally attack and try to take over society. This event has been hinted at since the start of the series with Eldritch and Eichorst's plans finally set into motion. It was fun to watch the vampire assault onto the New York lines. It was even fun to see Fet's special operation to neutralize a nest and then have the attack begin. One thing that made the scene less watchable is the overall idiocy of the humans. The humans have assault rifles but they are often depicted only with handguns. It was strange to see the growing militarization of the police only to have the show only display pistols to the viewer.

The incredibly baffling scene is Zach and his indoctrination by Kelly Goodweather. Somehow Zach is okay with the grotesque vampires and even allows his feeler to kill an innocent man. I do not understand Zach's character. Does he want to be a vampire? He had an entire season knowing the grotesque nature of the vampires but he is okay with Kelly saying things his mother would never say.

"The Battle of Central Park" is a solid episode of The Strain. I would recommend watching this episode.

The Strigoi Strike Back [8/10]

Warning: Spoilers
Reaction / Review for The Strain Season 3 Episode 6 ''The Battle for Central Park'' (S3. E6): Episode 5 was great and I gave it a rating 8.5/10. So a few police men and Fet are supposed to go against thousands of strigoi? Makes no sense. I wonder if Eph and Dutch will find a way to disrupt strigoi communication, that would be a big weapon. Sending Gus and the others without guns is a suicide mission. Are they gonna show us Master's new body or not? Watching Fet burn all these strigoi is very satisfying. Where is Setrakian, where is Quinlan, where is Palmer? This feels like a filler episode. Dutch cut off Eichorst's hand, that feels good. The episode ends with strigoi taking back the park, kind of depressing. This episode was good, my rating is 8/10.
