This is 15 and a half minutes long, and is the only extra on the Director's Cut DVD of DareDevil other than the informational and interesting commentary, for the 2 hour and 8 minute picture. Note that it gives away a lot of what happens.
It consists of film clips, interviews, and footage of them editing. They discuss how the choices were made to lead to 2 different released versions, and, indeed, why they are on separate DVDs. Producer Gary Foster argued for keeping it to a faster pace, rather than detailed scenes that did, indeed, make it a longer feature. Director Mark Steven Johnson felt that it hurt a lot of what he loved about the character of Matt Murdock: how he stands up for the little guy. We get to see The Kingpin getting into his territory. The entire subplot of Dante Jackson and the murdered prostitute, and how it actually leads to the biggest fish, these people that no one would believe, or fight for. It's explained why certain things were removed, and how the changes affect the whole in substantial ways, such as the relationship between Matt and Elektra. Jon Favreau has the most material removed. Action is trimmed down, leaving the climax very flat.
I recommend this to any fan of the movie. 8/10
