Basically, more of the same that extra material for films can be visualized in this piece: interview with cast, writer and director of "The Manchurian Candidate", what they liked about the project, what they liked about working with talented people and behind the scenes moments. Jonathan Demme, Denzel Washington, Meryl Streep, Liev Schreiber and writer Daniel Pyne talk about their experiences while shooting the remake of Frankenheimer's 1962 classic - I like both versions and I positively enjoyed the obstacles Demme faced while having to adapt the concept for this updated version (the use of Manchurian as for the title and inclusion for the film, which was quite tricky, end up being nicely interesting and fit with a sense of accuracy our modern times).
Good but not great project, this is the kind of bonus piece that must be viewed after you've seen the film since they present the creative concept behind some of the major plot points of the film, many spoilers but quite interesting. Another companion pieces of this are a documentary talking the main cast; and one called "Political Pundits" which seems like a rehearsal including famous personalities discussing the politics of our times, and in the final film they have brief moments presenting some analysis that fit the movie. So, three documentaries and an audio commentary that helps to decipher "The Manchurian Candidate" but personally I think the film stands alone just fine. Surely, the extras satisfy minor curiosities of viewers but they're not enough to present what we like to see the most: the curious stories and incidents behind the scenes. 7/10
