Sex & Nudity

Violence & Gore

  • This episode possibly has the most on-screen deaths of any episode of Rebels. The second half of the episode is a long-ranging series of duels between Ahsoka, Kanan, Ezra and Maul versus the three Inquisitors and Darth Vader. During the course of the battles, two of the inquisitors are shown to be killed, with the Seventh Sister implied (though not directly shown) to be cut in half, with the Fifth Brother shown to be impaled on Maul's lightsaber. The Fourth Brother is also possibly killed by being thrown off the Sith Temple.
  • During this fight, Kanan is blinded by Maul when Maul betrays the group. The blinding is fairly graphic for the TV-Y7 rating -- we see the sabre connect with Kanan's eyes, then we go to a POV shot where his visioin is overtaken by bright red before darkness. The viewer is never shown the extent of the facial damage, as his face is always covered by his hands, a Jedi Guard's helmet or a bandage.
  • Ahsoka and Vader duel at the climax of the episode, and though no actual injuries are shown, at one point Ahsoka does strike Vader in the face, shattering his helmet. The end of the intense fight is left unshown, and the viewer is left with the implication that Ahsoka was killed or grievously injured and at any rate abandoned at the Malachor Temple. Before this duel, Vader and Ezra briefly fight, and Vader nearly injures Ezra, though in the end it's revealed that it is his lightsaber that is destroyed.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Along with the intense lightsaber fights, the entire episode (excepting the beginning and the end) are set on the planet Malachor, which is designed as a planet of evil. Much of the episode's runtime involves a meditation on the seductiveness of evil, with Ezra being "trained" by a distinctly "Yoda-like" Maul. At the very end of the episode, we see the training apparently paying off as Ezra is able to open a Sith holocron, looking up at the camera with eyes of intense rage.
