,,, and I explain what I mean by that.
First, the easy part, the review. One of the best reality shows of all time. You have an island that is very photogenic which is mainly private so for most of us this is the only chance to see it. You have one of the greatest treasure legends in history wrapped in a series of clues so confusing they should consider a crossover episode with BBC's Sherlock. You have two of the most personable treasure hunters ever (the Laginas) and you have the challenge of using modern technology to solve a mystery that could be centuries old. Does it get any better than this. Nope.
As for my opening comment, at the risk of sounding cynical (which is a fair comment because I am cynical) the Laginas are already ahead of the game. They have a partial subsidy of their hunt from their deal with History channel -- which of course is never talked about -- their faces are becoming household names (no easy feat that) and they are starting to attract the best and the brightest because of the mass exposure. In this episode for example suddenly a diver appears whose skills are light-years ahead of everyone else they have used previously. Why? Because the new diver saw a chance to establish his street cred on a worldwide basis even if it means risking his life. That is how things change when you are looking for a treasure on a reality show.
