Troll Empire: The Making of Troll (2015)
*** (out of 4)
The one and only TROLL gets the Shout Factory! treatment with this fifty minute documentary that takes a look at the production. We start off hearing from Charles Band about Empire Pictures and how they ended up making the movie. From here we get writer Ed Naha and director John Carl Buechler who discuss how they got involved in the picture and how the idea for the movie kicked around Hollywood for many years. Also on board are a half dozen people who worked on the special effects.
If you're a fan of TROLL then you're going to enjoy this documentary as you really get a lot of good behind-the-scenes bits of information about the production. You will learn that Roger Corman was originally connected to the material and you'll also hear about its success of video. Other nice stories include the casting of some well-known names and how the special effects changed as production came closer.
