In 1963, Hollywood,s Dore Schary produced, scripted, and directed a film version of the autobiography of playwright Moss Hart, dealing with his early years and leading up to his successful collaboration with George S Kaufman. In this PBS telecast, Schary himself becomes one of the characters and, unlike the earlier version, actors play multiple roles.(Andrea Martin, who somewhat resembles Olympia Dukakis, plays the aging aunt who got the young Hart interested in theater, an agent, and Kaufman,s wife.) The details on the writing of the play, Once In A Lifetime, are interesting and moving.
