The Making of Monster Dog

*** (out of 4)

This 43 minute featurette takes a look at the making of MONSTER DOG, the 1984 horror film that featured Alice Cooper in the lead role. Director Claudio Fragasso, his wife Rosselia Drudi and production manager Roberto Bessi are on hand to discuss the making of the movie, although Bessi only appears in a couple scenes to explain how he got the money for the film. Fragasso and and his wife get the majority of the running time as they talk a lot about what it was like working with Cooper as well as several issues on the film including how the director's cut was twenty minutes longer but the film was taken away and edited without his wishes.

This featurette is certainly worth watching if you're a fan of the movie, although there's no doubt that it does run a bit long and there are many unanswered questions that aren't brought up including why Cooper's voice was dubbed in the film. With that said, there are some great stories told about Cooper as everyone praises him very highly. The talk about the extended cut is also quite interesting.
