The Exorcist franchise is getting a makeover following the polarizing response to last year’s The Exorcist: Believer.
Horror maestro Mike Flanagan will write, direct and produce what Blumhouse is describing as a “radical new take” on the franchise, one that will be set in the Exorcist universe but not as a sequel to Believer.
Flanagan’s Exorcist hiring is a notable change in direction that comes nearly three years after Universal announced a $400 million megadeal that would allow it to make a trilogy of Exorcist films to be helmed by David Gordon Green, the filmmaker behind Universal and Blumhouse’s hit Halloween movies. Those plans were put on the shelf after Green’s Believer earned negative reviews and brought in $137 million at the box office.

If it weren’t for the press, I would totally forget that Marvel’s Thunderbolts* is a movie that’s coming out. The semi-sequel to Black Widow is happening, and one of its stars is making bank!
The Hollywood Reporter published a list of Hollywood’s new talent who are making waves. Several familiar faces are included, including one who may soon play Hercules in Disney’s live-action remake.
Aside from Austin Butler, Timothée Chalamet, and Sydney Sweeney, another name on THR’s Meet the New A-List: The 10 Young Movie Stars Taking Hollywood by Storm is making bank with only a few appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Florence Pugh has made multiple appearances in the MCU, including a theatrical film and a Disney+ series. However, her return to the big screen could net her an eight-figure salary.
According to THR’s list, Pugh “earned an eight-figure payday for two Marvel films.

Does the * in Thunderbolts*'s title = Black Widow 2?
According to trusted scooper Alex Perez, "Thunderbolts* is "just a Black Widow sequel the same way Civil War was a Captain America sequel... Yelena’s handling Red Room remnants and then gets sidetracked with Thunderbolts*."
Seeing as Thunderbolts* features characters like Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, and Taskmaster, we've long suspected it would be heavily tied to Black Widow. Bucky and U.S. Agent's presence on the team also creates a significant link to The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
The Hollywood Reporter may have even confirmed this in a new piece which reveals, "[Florence] Pugh, 28, earned an eight-figure payday for two Marvel films, first the Scarlett Johansson-led Black Widow then Thunderbolts, where she will be at the top of the call sheet."
While many fans are disappointed to see the classic Thunderbolts roster sidelined in the MCU, Yelena is incredibly popular and...

In Cate Shortland's 2021 spy thriller "Black Widow," Ray Winstone plays a heartless Russian spymaster named Dreykov who oversees a shadowy training program called the Red Room. For years, Dreykov has been kidnapping young girls and forcing them to train as assassins and spies in a mysterious facility nicknamed Red Room. He is effectively turning girls into brainwashed super-agents -- Black Widows -- for the Soviet Union, then later, Russia. The titular Black Widow is Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) a good-hearted spy who broke her programming, defected, and turned to the side of good. The plot of Shortland's film involves Natasha and several other former Russian super-agents tracking down Dreykov and shuttering the Red Room.

As far as Marvel movies go, Black Widow is one of the most divisive entries in the long-running series of inter-connected superhero slugfests. While some fans feel the movie was too late to the party, others say it was a questionable display of Marvel’s dependence on shotty VFX above character-driven narratives. On another end of the spectrum, Ray Winstone, who plays Dreykov, the film’s Big Bad and dominating force behind the Red Room project, says making the movie was a nightmare. Winstone’s experience in the film was so exhausting that the actor tried to have himself recast.
Speaking with Radio Times, Winstone said, “It was fine until you have to do the reshoots,” Winstone said about his Black Widow experience. “Then you find out that a few producers have come down, and your performance is too much, it’s too strong… That’s the way Marvel works.

“Ask God why, I didn’t get an answer/Why I lose my brother to bullets/Why I lose my grandma to cancer,” Offset harmonizes on “Say My Grace.” Few could have imagined that the Atlanta artist who emerged as one-third of Migos a decade ago with “Versace,” reintroducing the concept of a rap group to the Zoomer generation, would settle uncomfortably into the role of husband to pop icon Cardi B, and become a target of internet gossip so pernicious that the phrase “Offset cheating” elicits thousands of Google search results dating back years.

"The Dragon Prince" has quickly grown into a clear spiritual successor to "Avatar: The Last Airbender," an animated show with a vast and complex world and mythology, as well as an epic scope that helped it become one of the best fantasy stories on TV, including live-action.
After the first three seasons told a complete chapter in the saga, ending with the start of a new era in the fantasy world of the show, season 4 jumped forward in time and kickstarted a new chapter. Dubbed the Mystery of Aaravos arc, most of that season was spent on table setting for the new status quo, the changed dynamics between elves and humans, and building up the show's primordial villain — the Archmage and Startouch Elf Aaravos.

Chicago – When the term “A Star is Born” is used, behind that moment is hours of toil and stick-to-it-tiveness that actors and creators must go through. In that process is the Irish actor/writer and director Tania Notaro, who recently brought her short film “Glitterbug” to the Chicago Irish Film Festival.
“Glitterbug” is set in 1990s Dublin, as two young club DJs (Notaro and co-star Irene Kelleher) dream of making it to London and the big time. When one of them is diagnosed with the HIV virus, this dream is deferred and causes tension among caretakers, relatives and friends. “Glitterbug” is Tania Notaro’s first film.

Florence Pugh is an actor in high demand thanks to her numerous excellent performances in movies of various genres. But many know her best for her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Yelena Belova. Having so much of her calendar spoken for by one property could frustrate a talent like Pugh. But she appreciates that the MCU forces her to consider her choices on a deeper level.
Florence Pugh is becoming a prominent member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Yelena made her on-screen debut in Black Widow in 2021. Like Natasha Romanoff, she is a victim of the Red Room training program. The two come together in the movie to overcome their traumatic childhoods, kill General Dreykov, and destroy the Red Room once and for all.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is easily one of the most successful film franchises of the 21st century. While there have been many great films inspired by comic books, the MCU was the first interconnected saga that brought multiple heroes together for a crossover event. Ever since the success of 2008's "Iron Man," the MCU has pulled off the rare challenge of pleasing both hardcore comic book lovers and more casual movie fans. There's a consistent level of quality in the McU's output. While not every film or television show is a home run, the franchise has avoided any complete disasters.
The third phase of the MCU concluded in 2019 with "Avengers: Endgame," which brought the "Infinity Saga" to a close. While Covid-19-related pushbacks may have delayed the next stage of the franchise, Phase Four has been the most ambitious entry within the series thus far. The next era of the...

This Black Widow article contains spoilers for Avengers: Endgame.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn’t do standalone movies—not really. Even the most isolated of MCU narratives have connections to the rest of the fictional universe, and work to set up upcoming stories. Normally, this process may be surprising in precisely how it is executed, but straight-forward in that it is setting up the next story or stories in the MCU. The Black Widow movie, slated for a July release, challenges that obvious structure. It is a prequel centering a hero who is canonically dead in the MCU, which means its strategy in connecting to the current, forward-looking phase of the MCU and setting up a future story is a bit more mysterious. How will the Black Widow prequel, which is set after the events of Captain America: Civil War but before the events of Avengers: Infinity War, set up the MCU’s future?...

'Black Widow' was originally set to premiere on May 1, 2020, but like many other films, the date was pushed back due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The twice-delayed Marvel movie was previously announced to release in November this year, but Disney later decided to postpone the theatrical release of 'Black Widow' to May 7, 2021.
The delay which shifted Phase 4 includes several other Marvel films such as 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' and 'Eternals' getting shifted deeper into 2021, making 2020 the first year without a Marvel Studios film since 2009, reports Comicbook.
Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh featured on the latest cover of Marie Claire’s Winter 2020 issue giving us a new look at their characters, as Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow dives into action on a motorcycle with Yelena Belova.

Black Widow is mostly being hyped as a possibly final showcase for Scarlett Johansson in the McU, following Natasha Romanoff meeting her end in Avengers: Endgame. However, it could also act as a new beginning, too, through the introduction of Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova. As Nat’s surrogate sister and fellow Widow, Yelena has a long history in the comics herself, so there’s lots of potential for her to remain aboard the franchise following her debut movie.
While speaking to Total Film, the British actress touched on the opportunity for her to return following Bw. Pugh didn’t divulge any secret deals she may have made with Marvel, but she did say that she would love to do more with her character. According to the star, though, it all depends on whether audiences take to Yelena or not.

Natasha Romanoff has some traumatic experiences in her past, and it seems Black Widow won’t be shying away from exploring them and the bigger themes that go along with the character’s troubled beginnings in life. Florence Pugh will be making her McU debut in the upcoming movie as Yelena Belova, the fellow Widow and surrogate sister to Scarlett Johansson’s Nat. And according to her, Black Widow is all about “the abuse of women.”
As part of their exclusive preview of the movie, Total Film spoke to Pugh, who explained how the story of Nat and Yelena is “so important” and needs to be told.
“This film is about the abuse of women. It’s about how they get involuntary hysterectomies by the age of eight. It’s about girls who are stolen from around the world. It’s so painful, and it’s so important.”

After a lengthy collaboration with Hans Zimmer, the seasoned composer’s duties scoring Dune, No Time to Die, Top Gun: Maverick, Wonder Woman 1984, and other projects meant Christopher Nolan needed to find a new collaborator. He turned to Oscar-winner Ludwig Göransson and the result is a bombastic score clocking in at nearly 90 minutes. It’s also now arrived in full online as the film continues to expand in its theatrical run.
“I know from watching his films how savvy he is with music, how much he understands it, but I didn’t fully know that he could speak about it almost like a trained musician,” the composer said of Nolan. “So, I was blown away by that. And also, just the way that he’s open with experimentation, and pushes me to really try out new things, and things that I maybe would think that people want to hold off on,...

This November’s Black Widow will help fill in the final pieces, but we know a fair amount about Natasha Romanoff’s backstory in the McU already. Originally a top Russian agent for the Kgb, raised as part of the relentless Red Room program, she came onto the radar of S.H.I.E.L.D. who sent Hawkeye to assassinate her. Clint Barton spared her life, however, and she defected to the U.S., eventually joining the Avengers yada yada. But one big question we don’t have the answer to is: why does Nat have an American accent?
Natasha was born and bred in the Mother Country, only moving to the States as an adult, yet she possesses no hint at her Russian background in her voice. Obviously, from a real-world point of view, this is because it’s better to have Scarlett Johansson speak with her natural...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a carefully crafted juggernaut that’s always moving forward.
But for Cate Shortland’s standalone Black Widow, the McU will look to the past – specifically the one belonging to Natasha Romanoff – for a story that’s largely set in the interval between Civil War and Infinity War.
It’s just as well, too, given Natasha Romanoff kicked the bucket in Avengers: Endgame, tossing herself off the cliffs of Vormir so that her life-long friend Hawkeye – and, by effect, half of the universe – could survive. So expect Black Widow to explore some of the character beats that preceded that historic act of martyrdom.
Chief among them being Natasha’s quasi-family involving the other Widows, and the dreaded Red Room. Speaking of which, one curious fan has spotted what appears to be an McU Easter egg which, if true, would help establish a connection between Black Widow...

The new Spike Jonze documentary chronicles how three friends went from being kings of their local scene to ascending worldwide fame. Not only does the clip tease archival, behind the scenes footage of the group in its formative years, but it highlights present-day reflections from Mike Diamond and Adam Horovitz on their late bandmate and friend, Adam Yauch, in a live-show setting. Unlike some other details about the upcoming Black Widow, we actually do know what the Red Room is! The Red Room is a crucial part of Natasha Romanoff's backstory as the site of much of her training as a spy and assassin in her youth in Russia. While we wait to learn more about the creepy, terrifying "school" in the new movie, let's review what we know so far.
We learn a lot about the Red Room academy in Avengers: Age of Ultron, where we see several of Natasha's flashbacks to her time in the facility. The goal of the academy is to brainwash and train girls to become deadly Soviet assassins, usually starting from a very young age. Natasha's flashbacks show how the girls were trained during her time there. It includes mandatory videos of American movies to teach them English but they're also embedded with subliminal brainwashing messaging,...

Marvel Comics "Web Of Black Widow" #2, in support of Marvel Studios currently shooting "Black Widow" stand-alone feature is written by Jody Houser and illustrated by Stephen Mooney, with covers by Jung-Geun Yoon and Ben Oliver, available October 9, 2019:
"...'Natasha Romanoff' and 'Bucky Barnes' have a history as long as war, companions since the earliest days of the 'Widow' in the 'Red Room' when both were trapped in service to the wrong side.
"It's one of the greatest -- and most tragic -- love stories of the 'Marvel Universe'. Now the world will try to get between them once again.
"And with the Widow missing memories, she may find herself losing the only person who would have forgiven her for what she has to do next..."

Once inside ... it was easy to spot the theme -- lots of red to style his new music video, "Red Room." Friends and family were also treated to a little trip down memory lane ... with tons of pics and banners from his childhood hanging from the rafters. There were also home videos playing in the background. Quavo, Takeoff and Offset's crew -- Pee and Coach K -- from his label, Quality Control Music, also hit up the joint.

Offset grapples with the past in the dramatic video for his new song, “Red Room.” The track is set to appear on Offset’s forthcoming solo debut, out February 22nd via Quality Control, Motown and Capitol.
“Red Room” boasts a minimalist beat from Metro Boomin, who anchors a atmospheric blend of synths with crisp trap drums. Offset deftly moves between a croon and Migos’ patented triplet flow, peeling off lines about growing up, run-ins with the law, losing friends and his near-fatal car crash. “Abomination on your paper, I got acres,...

According to reports in the Italian press, Marvel Studios are heading to Italy for another shoot very soon. They seem to enjoy filming in the country, too, having shot scenes for Avengers: Age of Ultron in the Fortress of Bard in the Val d’Aosta and reportedly making use of Venice’s iconic architecture and canals for an action sequence in the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home (hopefully we’ll get a peek at this in the incoming trailer).
Badtaste.it are now reporting that they’re heading to Piedmont to shoot around the castle and historic centre of Racconigi in the province of Cuneo. The description of the scenes that’ve been released translates to “the story will be set during World War I, centering around a huge attack on the city of Sarajevo.” With that in mind, the burning question remains: what film will this be for?

Offset’s album will drop December 14th via Quality Control Music/Motown Records/Capitol. The rapper has yet to confirm a title. This release will mark the third solo album from a member of Migos this year,...

The Haunting of Hill House has inspired everything from epic Halloween costumes to gut-wrenching theories about the five Crain siblings, but few things have stopped us in our tracks faster than the news that the Netflix horror-drama originally had an alternate ending. What's more? It's heartbreaking.
During an interview with Thrillist, showrunner and horror extraordinaire Mike Flanagan revealed that the final scene of the series was initially going to be very, very different. As you might recall, the show resolves on a happy note, with the family coming together after the trauma they experience and moving forward with their lives: Steven is going to be a dad, Shirley and her husband seem to have reconciled, Theo has married Trish, and Luke celebrates being two years sober.

After years of fans trying to wish it into existence, Marvel Studios is finally – finally – bringing us a Black Widow solo movie. Scarlet Johansson first appeared as S.H.I.E.L.D. super-spy Natasha Romanoff way back in 2010’s Iron Man 2 and, while her male colleagues have had various vehicles to themselves since then, it’s taken until now for the star to get her own standalone project off the ground.
Still, better late than never and while Johansson’s secret agent is expected to feature in Avengers 4, the Widow movie is beginning to make serious headway over at Marvel Studios, after appointing scribe Jac Schaeffer on script duties and Cate Shortland to the director’s chair.
We haven’t been told too much about what Kevin Feige and co. have planned just yet, but a possible plot synopsis leaked online earlier today and teases what the pic may bring us.

What’s more, THR’s report revealed when the film is expected to be set, too. It seems that Marvel’s planning on making Black Widow another prequel in the style of Captain Marvel, with the outlet noting the following:

It’s a credit to TV’s greater curiosity and openmindedness that when I beheld the four stars of “Book Club” — actresses ranging in age from 65 to 80 — my thoughts turned to how recently I’d seen them on their respective shows or in headlines about their upcoming series.
The ensemble romantic comedy benefits enormously from Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda and Mary Steenburgen keeping their comedic and dramatic muscles warmed up. None of the women are asked to do anything too strenuous in “Book Club,” but their collective charisma — along with their male co-stars’ — add up to an irresistible charmfest.
The premise of “Book Club” sounds, to be honest, excruciatingly dumb: A quartet of elderly friends are inspired by the “50 Shades of Grey” books to spice up their sex lives. But first-time director Bill Holderman, who penned the script with Erin Simms, smartly adds a pinch of salt to the sweetness...
