I've been recently watching the entire oeuvre of Vivid star Kimberly Kane as director, and out of nowhere I was most pleasantly surprised by another femme helmer of great promise to emerge, also KK monogram on her bath towels, actress Kayden Kross with this feature showcase "The One I Lust".
Lust stands for Kendra Lust, perhaps the pre-eminent MILF for discriminating porn fans, though "à chacun son goût" is the pertinent phrase here. The screenplay is interesting (and a relief from the gonzo assignments that Kendra, in an Interview bonus segment, says she prefers shooting), starting with Kendra and her aging-gracefully husband Steve Holmes at a marital impasse, seeking therapy from shrink Manuel Ferrara (uh-oh!).
Ferrara and Kayden co-directed and co-starred in a rather awful feature "Screwing Wall Street" and this is a mighty step up. Lust is truly amazing here, mature, sexy and uninhibited, yet remaining in character, rather than "going gonzo" as all the principals (including Ferrara and Kayden herself) are wont to do in lesser assignments. What makes the film especially interesting is the mysterious fantasy elements that Kross has embedded in her script, involving several scenes which may or may not have actually occurred. We are left to wonder during the feature (and ponder afterward) whether what each spouse thought she or he saw or experienced actually happened or was mere hallucination (or supernatural intervention of some sort). The "Twilight Zone" content is what gives the feature some depth.

This "keep 'em guessing" strategy is especially successful with the inclusion of a "fantasy" (or is it?) scene of Steve rewarding wife Kendra with a threesome adding his son to their sexual menage - a borderline incest staging that is interesting due to its ambiguity. Steve in reality had previously accused Kendra of hankering after his son, so the scene is very well set-up and relevant.
Along the way, Kendra gets to bed down with luscious Vicki Chase, an important sidelight to avoid this video devolving into a Kendra, Kendra, Kendra one-note exhibition. She does get to dominate in a gang-bang with four studs.
