A much better, improved second half of the first season.

Before I review this, I need to explain something that will make you understand the show a bit better. Ever single episode from episode 16 onwards was all filler. So around the time when Rin's friends found out he was the son of satin, every episode from thwt point on was filler. This wss because the animation studio caughr up with thw manga and had to make an original ending. So, 6 yeara later, we finally have a true ending to season one. Because of this, certain characters seem to acr differently to Rin being a demon than the 2011 anime series. Personally, I really likes this seriea. Not only did they improve on the animation and story telling, but the male voice acting was dar better than the original series. I won't spoil anything, but pleasw watch season one up to episode 16, then watch this series. It will make so much sense.

Slow starting but worth the wait

Warning: Spoilers
At first it's a bit jarring, especially if you've watched the entirety of the prior season but is easy enough to understand and lick back up on roughly after episode 1, however it is completely inaccessible for those who've not watched anything before so I recommend you do some kind of 'research' prior to watching. Anyway my main issue comes with the opening 5 episodes (ish) which offer little in all honesty, much like the start of the third season of Hannibal though both shows do pick up in quality it's a shame they don't hit the ground running. Story wise it seems to dwell on the reveal of Rin's Powers to the group a little too much where the first series that deviated off book managed to deal with it exceptionally. As it progresses though the story does become enveloping and seriously interesting to watch so I suggest you see it through as by the final credits the identity of the characters has grown so much in a way not too dissimilar to One Piece's time jump or the Shippuden era of Naruto, so, to round off my review if you've seen the series before or if you're planning on getting started, do so! Such a fantastic anime and unique concept

The story in kyoto saga is much much better than Blue exorcist released in 2011. one one one combats are good, and the use indian instruments and Indian Fire relating terma like AGNI, OM (Indian God SHIV), SAMADHI (related to burn something to ashes) all of these were not just made up but very true and real. I'm glad i got to watch it

Unsatisfied by the end of the first season? WATCH THIS!

No clue why this is rated lower than the first season-- it is a bit of a perspective shift to start at an earlier point than where the first season ended, but the writing is so much better! I though the climax of the first season was rushed and not giving a lot of the cast what they deserved (still fun though). This season fleshes out so much more of the cast, and really dwells upon the BIGGEST conflict of the series-- how Rin's friends feel about him being the son of Satan! I felt this was too brushed over in season 1, too, but this season really gets into drawing out the tension, and ultimately creates a more believable conflict for the characters to grow through.

I rated season 1 at 8 stars. ;)

A continuation

This was my second anime after Seven Deadly Sins. That was back in 2018. I had fallen in loved with it but hated the ending because it meant there was only one season. However, the "series finale" was just an anime only finale. The true anime that matches the manga after episode 15 of Blue Exorcist is this show right here!!

A better ending then
WeAreLive3 December 2020
Please note to watch the first 19 episodes of the first season before entering this.

Rin and friends go to a temple to investigate a family between Shima and Ryuji's family as well as a crisis. Meanwhile Rin is still learning how to use his flames and gain trust from his friends again.

I am going to conclude by saying if you enjoyed the blue exorcist anime I am sure you will enjoy this.

Downhill

Ao no Exorcist is one of those shows with an interesting plot, but it goes downhill as the series progresses.

I used to believe that an adaptation that follows the source is better than an adaptation that just goes anime original. Well, Ao no Exorcist proved me wrong.

Ruins almost every character. I don't accept this as being part of Blue Exorcist.

THIS IS NOT BLUE EXORCIST!

I really like the original Blue Exorcist series from 2011-2012, but they're obviously trying to ruin the almost every single character in this part. Most of them are irrational, and down right stupid, one important character from the original tv show is a thief and they spend a lot time talking when they should be acting even in the big fight. Ren acts like a childish bully insted of incourage his friend, and most of them have skills/powers they never shows before or after, even thou this is suppose to take place after episode 17. Seems like some really bad fan fiction.

I gave the real Blue Exorcist 7 stars.
