None of these reviews are about the real Whole Bloody Affair edit
j0hnayres9 March 2021
Most of these people are reviewing fan edits of the movie. The movie has never been released and has never leaked. If anyone actually saw it they happened to see it for the brief time it was in the theater.

You probably watched a FAN EDIT
spinoff7527 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Yeah! DON'T believe this is the Director's Cut, is not! Is a merely the work of a proactive fan who put the two movies together. "The Whole Bloody Affair" never ever has been released either in DVD, Blu-Ray or Digital Copy. The only time that Kill Bill Vol.1 and Vol.2 was showed like this to an audience, in a theatre was in the premiere in Cannes.

What you find in internet and some sold Blu-Rays is a "bootleg" to put it a name. Is well edited, most of the 4 hours (there's some audio issues), probably 90% accurate (only people in Cannes could confirm that, right?). The inserts works (as the deleted scene when Bill kills some gang looking for revenge) BUT the one in the bonfire scene (narrating the story of Pai Mei)? COME ON GIMME A BREAK! That's not material shot by Tarantino, actually is footage from "The Clan of the White Lotus (1980) where he copied the five point palm exploding heart technique from. But the worst thing is those images are put in LOW RESOLUTION!!! Whoever with healthy eyes can noticed that, no need knowledge about editing.

I'm a fan of Tarantino but let's be honest: We all know he "homages, remixes/steals" vintage stuff to make it better (i.e the yellow suit, from Bruce Lee's Game of Death (1978), the backlit showdown from Samurai Fiction (1988), the showdown from Fists of Fury (1972), the snow fight with O Ren from Lady Snowblood (1973), the blood tears of Gogo from City of the Living Dead (1980), the redrage look before a killing from Death Rides a Horse (1967), the glasses on the Sheriff's car from Gone in 60 Seconds (1974), the crossed list from The Mercenary (1968) and so on). I don't know why IMDB put this in its database, is not a new movie, not a version of the movie but a piracy effort.

The Greatest Revenge Film Ever
redhawk-4457118 June 2019
Kill Bill is a martial arts epic with great dialogue, a cornucopia of references, and that signature Tarantino flair for violence and a deep passionate love for cinema as a medium. This film, to me, acts as the perfect fusion of samurai movies, spaghetti westerns, and Hollywood spectacle. The Showdown at The House of Blue Leaves, where The Bride must face-off against O-Ren Ishii and the Crazy 88, is a masterclass in how to create an action scene, and the rest of the action in the movie has a level of quality only slightly below that. Do yourself a favor; if you truly love movies, go see Kill Bill, because you will almost certainly love it too.

Tarantino's Masterpiece
kritikoumariaq10 June 2018
His best film so far. What i didn't like was that he made some changes in Vol.1 but that wasn't really necessary! He should make changes in Vol.2 because i found some scenes completely pointless. And also i prefer the two parts separate because they are so different each other! I liked Vol.1 much more than Vol.2. Yes, it's a bit confusing. However, it is more like a complete movie, so some people won't complain. But i still think they are better as two seperate films with different philosophy and style.

All Time Epic Masterpiece!
kritikoumaria5 February 2017
This is the best Kill Bill version. Actually, it is a huge masterpiece.I have seen many movies, but this is the best of all. Kung Fu, ninja, samurai style,it reminds western. A heart-broken woman fighting for revenge and because of her lost child. The first feminist movie created by Q&U.The cast was brilliant. Quentin's directing changes was awesome. Soundtracks in perfect harmony. It is definitely a memorable movie with so much thrill and action. The best movie i have ever seen. All the cast was brilliant, i liked the martial arts style, Gordon Liu as Pai Mei and the plot. Tarantino is a very genius man and he knows how to make movies.

Just let yourself be entertained. Imagination, creativity, homage, recycling, all together to give us an immense enjoyment. With or without references, it is an appreciable work. Warning: It can cause an irresistible urge to purchase katanas, retro trainers, classic cars, take kung fu classes, take Japanese classes, watch anime, give a scratch to a pimp, sell the trailer and hug your kids to the sound of a Morriconian sundown.

I've only ever seen a fanedit...
DirkDiamond25 April 2021
...which doesn't really count. Never understood why this edit wasn't made available. Don't think it ever screened in the UK. It gets a 10, as based on my review of both movies, squished together in a single sitting. It still holds up. A tremendous movie - since both became available I've only ever watched it as a single movie. Interestingly enough both movies clock in at about 4 hours. This one however is about 3.5 hours. I know it contains extra scenes, extended scenes, different angles, etc, but evidently has a few things cut away from it, indicating it's a very different very different version indeed.

The Most Epic Revenge Film!!!
noah-6573214 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Kill Bill Volume 1 & 2 are both basically one long movie that director Quentin Tarantino ended up breaking into two parts for marketing and distribution purposes. For that reason, I'm going to use this review to go over both films. Kill Bill is about a female assassin that is betrayed by her lover/master Bill and his Deadly Viper Assassin Squad to which she once belonged. Awakening four years after being shot point blank in the head, the woman known only as "The Bride" seeks bloody revenge against those who have wronged her. "The Bride" also happens to be a master of the Samurai Sword and other deadly martial arts and is ready to travel around the world to get her bloody satisfaction. In classic Tarantino fashion, the story is broken up into different segments that take place at various times throughout the storyline, basically the film is not in chronological order. There are many different film genres paid homage to throughout the story including; Kung-Fu, Western, Horror, Revenge Exploitation and Anime to name a few. The fight choreography is amazing, the special effects are well done and the acting and cast are just excellent. I personally consider this is one of my favorite films of all time, I saw both movies in the theater on opening day and an additional 2 each times after that. While the action, story and effects are great; the most remarkable aspects of this film include some of the most professionally shot scenes I've ever seen on film and a wonderful soundtrack from the Rza and Robert Rodriguez. I pretty much recommend Kill Bill to just about everyone, even if you don't end up liking it, I think you'll agree it was worth watching at least once.

Better than any other versions of this film
XweAponX4 May 2023
I ran across this fanedit several years ago, but the original copy that I had was not the actual fan edit listed here. That one was simply the two original movies joined together, somehow although it did have some of the material that was in the actual bloody affair cut.

I finally found another version of this, The actual version of this IMDb listing. It was exceedingly difficult to find. But now I have the actual film as described in this IMDb entry.

One Reviewer talks about the way that "the clan of the White Lotus" was clipped into the scene where David Carradine as Bill is describing Pei Mei's five point exploding heart technique to Beatrice Kiddo. This is not a negative thing, it actually connects this newer Quentin Tarantino film to the old kung fu movies. It is totally appropriate.

The actor playing Pei Mei was actually the same actor who was the leader of the crazy 88's. And he does look a lot like the original actor from the kung fu film.

In my version, the resolution of the older film was bumped up, so that it's not noticeably degraded from the rest of the Tarantino film in HD. But there are so many versions of this fan, edit that are not quite the right version floating around, which might have had a totally DVD resolution of that scene clipped in, done that way, it would look kind of bogus. But the version that I have is not like that at all, it is 100% high definition all the way through.

There are also many other alternate scenes. I don't know where the fan who edited this acquired those, but they are all very good material.

This is the proper way to watch this film, I saw both films in the theater when they came out and I had to wait an excruciatingly long time between parts one and two.

Now, I can watch both parts in one sitting, and I don't even have to change video files, it's all right there.

Somebody should try to get this cut legally distributed because it is simply too good to be a mysterious and difficult to find much less stream fan edit. Previously, I had come across a version of True Romance that was cut the way Tarantino had written it, it may have been edited by the same person because editing wise you could not tell between a regular movie and the fan edit. But the story of that one was a lot more negative than the theatrical release, it is very difficult to watch, especially the ending. Which was typical of early Tarantino work. When you get all the way back toward reservoir dogs, well, nobody gets out alive. It wasn't until later when he decided to have a couple characters actually escape by the skin of their teeth, he started becoming more popular. Pulp fiction era, possibly. Actually, his latest movies have gone toward the complete opposite extreme, all kinds of people escape.

Revenge
amindostiari14 July 2021
It was a great movie. The story was quite fascinating and causal. In the two screens, I prefer Vol 2. The characters were very interesting, especially the bride. From this film comes revenge, blood, anger and finally love.

Relationship drama between professional killers
ingobert3 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Relationship drama between professional killers, that might be a suitable subtitle. So she finds out during an assignment that she's pregnant, doesn't want to be a killer anymore, and decides to leave Bill, marry someone else and start a new life. And all without consulting Bill. Hmm. Bill isn't a choleric after all, he gives the impression that you can talk to him rationally. And obviously he doesn't hate being a father that much. Who knows, maybe he wouldn't have wanted to be a killer anymore if she'd talked to him. Anyway, SHE was the stumbling block, not him.

The plot that spins around this story is sometimes a bit long-winded (e.g. The endless battle scenes in the O-Ren Ishii chapter), but mostly exciting, ironically funny, full of ideas, well acted and staged. And film music from James Last to Malcolm McLaren, there's something for everyone!

Superb film(s)
grantss4 May 2024
A young woman is shot and left for dead at her wedding. Her entire wedding party is massacred in cold blood. After four years in a coma she awakes and systematically sets out to wreak revenge on the people responsible, especially their leader, Bill...

Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is the single-film version of Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2. It isn't simply the two films joined together but a reedited version of the two films, though much of the two films stays as and where it is.

Having enjoyed Kill Bill Vols 1 and 2 immensely I knew I wasn't going to be disappointed by this. Solid, original plot, good character depth, cool dialogue (as you would expect from Tarantino), great action scenes. Good use too of time-jumps, a Tarantino trademark. Solid performances too.

Tarantino has a habit of wearing his influences on his sleeve and this is homage to martial arts films. The fact that he cast Sonny Chiba in a role in Kill Bill bears testimony to that.

This all said, I'm not sure I watched the actual Tarantino edit but more likely watched a fan edit. It's been a while since I watched Vols 1 and 2 so I can't say for sure but pretty much everything looks exactly like Vols 1 and 2, except for the end credits to Vol 1 and the start credits to Vol 2 being missing, of course. Plus, apparently it's impossible to get hold of the actual Tarantino version.
