Director James Gunn is here to put a stop to the meaningless rivalry between Marvel and DC fans. In a series of tweets, the Guardians of the Galaxy helmer addressed and attempted to defuse the tense arguments among fanboys and fangirls about Batman V Superman and the competition between Marvel and DC. “Every time I mention anything DC, no matter what, my feed becomes an endless screaming match about BvS,” he tweeted. “You guys are never going to convince each other — it's…...

It must really a bummer that everything Zack Snyder tried to establish for the DC Films universe with “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice” is being left behind. Executive Geoff Johns is pivoting away from the gritty, serious tone of the film, Ben Affleck might be bailing on his role as Batman, and now Gal Gadot reveals that when it was time to make “Wonder Woman,” the filmmakers essentially ditched Snyder’s approach to the character.

Continuity can be a tricky butterfly to pin amidst Hollywood’s shared universes.
With so many characters and spinoff movies to consider, a coherent throughline is often lost underneath all of the spectacle and mind-numbing action. And though there are a number of high-profile examples littered throughout Marvel’s portfolio and the DC Extended Universe, it didn’t take long before comic book fans took notice of the Wonder Woman retcon.
As you’ll no doubt remember, the Diana Prince of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is a far cry from the one reintroduced in Patty Jenkins’ solo movie. The latter is, of course, a prequel, and therefore allows its creators to flesh out a backstory for the Immortal Warrior. But in light of Wonder Woman‘s runaway success, DC fans looked back on Batman V Superman – and, specifically, this line from Miss. Prince: “100 years ago, I walked away...

"I need warriors." Warner Bros has launched one final trailer, essentially another one-minute, extended TV spot, for the Justice League movie - which will be officially credited to Zack Snyder as director. This new spot also lets us hear the villain Steppenwolf speak. Justice League is the continuation of the Batman v Superman series in the DC Extended Universe, bringing together five super-powered beings: Ben Affleck as Batman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. The film's extensive cast also includes Willem Dafoe, Jeremy Irons, Amber Heard, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. Tickets are on sale now via Fandango, and anyone who buys a ticket will get the opportunity to receive one of the posters seen below (only available to VIP ticket buyers) from their shop. Let's hope this superhero movie delivers. Here's...

On the surface, this kind of question shouldn’t have to be asked. Superman died (pretty definitively at that) in Batman v Superman. The new film’s advertising has billed the team forming in response to his heroic sacrifice (much like The Avengers did after Loki killed Agent Coulson). The film’s “lean” run-time isn’t going to afford it much time to deal with some kind of eleventh-hour resurrection and the whole thing’s supposedly getting rebooted anyway when Flashpoint hits theaters sometime in the next couple of years. By rights, all we should see of the ill-received Man of Steel is in Lois

The latest predictions for Justice League’s opening weekend are in and, at least on the surface, things couldn’t look better. Justice League is looking at a $150 million opening weekend and a $330 million lifetime gross at the Us box office. That puts it dead even with Batman v Superman and trailing only Wonder Woman among Dceu films. The problem is, no matter what it seems like at a glance, that would be an incredibly disappointing return on Warner Bros’ considerable investment in the film. Although there’s no denying that Batman v Superman emptied out a lot of movie-goers’ wallets,

While nobody ever expected it wo win over many critics, Suicide Squad epitomized exactly where general and professional audiences differed. For the most part, critics and fans of the Dceu have agreed about how good the movies have been. Wonder Woman is probably one of the best movies of the year; Batman v Superman was one of last year’s worst; Man of Steel was a pretty mixed bag. The one exception to this was Suicide Squad. Although it was neck-and-neck with Batman v Superman for bad reviews (with most calling it even worse than the superhero slugfest), audiences – or

Justice League has a long road ahead of it if it’s to live up to the box office numbers posted by the Dceu films that have already made their way into the public sphere. Despite the fact that critics don’t always take too kindly to them, the franchise produces heavy hitters financially speaking and even a movie like Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, which failed to really put a smile on anyone’s face, took in a respectable $873 million.
Then, of course, there’s the smashing success of Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman to consider. A hit with both critics and fans, that pic brought the studio home an impressive $821 million. All of this is to say that if Justice League is to be deemed a box office success, it’s going to need to make A Lot of money, but if The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez is to be believed,...

Say what you will about Zack Snyder, but the man knows how to line the fabric of his superhero tentpoles with Easter eggs and other crowd-pleasing references to DC Comics.
From Parademons to that scorched Omega symbol (read: Darkseid), Batman V Superman was loaded with numerous Easter eggs – some overt; others subtle – and it seems Justice League is no different. In light of this morning’s all-too-brief promo, which was designed to signal the beginning of Wonder Woman and Cyborg week, The Flite Cast has spotted a special cameo from none other than Marc McClure.
If that name rings a bell, it should; McClure originally portrayed Jimmy Olsen in the original four Christopher Reeve Superman movies, not to mention the Supergirl of 1984. Following a lengthy hiatus, during which time he and his wife Deborah Snyder grieved their daughter’s sudden, tragic death, Zack Snyder is now beginning to beat the drum for Warner’s Justice League movie, which is only three weeks out from its theatrical debut.
Production has wrapped, the final trailer has landed, and we recently caught wind of the film’s alleged running time (spoilers: it’s said to fall around the two-hour marker). That’s a far cry from those original rumors that claimed Justice League would stretch past three hours, making it one of the longest superhero movies in recent memory.
There’s also the small matter of Joss Whedon, who was tasked with ushering Justice League over the finish line soon after Snyder vacated the director’s chair. Word is the two-time Avengers filmmaker oversaw extensive reshoots – reshoots that purportedly carved out more room for Diana...

At least, that’s according to a new magazine article (via Reddit), which claims that the villain will be back in Zack Snyder/Joss Whedon’s tentpole, after being imprisoned at the end of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Granted, we’d heard the other week that the character still had a role in the film, but with so many mixed reports going around, it’s nice to get further confirmation. And not only that, but we’re also told that he’ll be working alongside Steppenwolf, who we know will be the true big bad of the pic.

Barring last week’s final trailer, Superman has spent most of Justice League‘s exhaustive campaign waiting in the wings. But even death can’t hold the Last Son of Krypton down.
Truth be told, Warner Bros. has been very selective when marketing Zack Snyder’s imminent DC tentpole, perhaps in fear that comic book fans will be able to piece together any and all clues pertaining to Superman’s resurrection. That goes some way to explaining why the Man of Steel has been omitted from almost all of the posters, not to mention the TV spots, banners, featurettes and behind-the-scenes photographs.
But Superman is in Justice League, make no mistake about it, and in order to drive that point home, ComicBook.com has relayed a rather dubious banner that places the Big Blue Boy Scout among the other costumed crusaders. We say dubious because this is unlike anything that...

The poster features Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg bracing themselves for a showdown with the sinister New God Steppenwolf and his Parademon hordes. By this stage in the game, Justice League‘s founding members – namely Wonder Woman, Batman, Aquaman, Cyborg and Flash – have been plastered on everything from billboards to lunchboxes. But it’s really those costumed crusaders who aren’t featured in Warner’s marketing blitz that have stirred heated debate online.
We are, of course, referring to Green Lantern and Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel, who made the ultimate sacrifice during the closing moments of Batman V Superman. Presumed dead, his absence leads to a world without hope. Crime rates are through the roof and to make matters worse, Diana Prince and Ben Affleck’s brooding Caped Crusader catch wind of an oncoming invasion. “I think it’s something more…something darker.”

DC was probably scratching their heads in confusion after the release of Suicide Squad. It was a total critical disaster (currently sitting at 25% on the Tomatometer), yet made a whopping $750m at the box office. Impressive for a film centered around D-list DC Universe villains, don’t you think?
No doubt they were pleased as punch with the financial returns, but where do you go with Suicide Squad 2? Tread the same path and risk more rotten eggs from the critics, or mix things up and risk turning off the existing audience? The answer to that question is still unclear, but given that much of Suicide Squad‘s marketing revolved around Jared Leto’s trash punk Joker, you’d assume he’d at least be returning for the sequel, right? Well, maybe not. Though we’ve heard reports that he will indeed be back, the actor himself isn’t so sure.

Following her scene-stealing appearance in Batman v Superman, Wonder Woman finally gets her own movie. Yes, she brought the Junkie Xl theme with her, the whole thing revolves around the silly Dawn of Justice, and there’s an obscene amount of speed-ramping, but bear with it, because Wonder Woman is actually, refreshingly, breathtakingly good.
With a few additions, this origin tale tells the story of Wonder Woman as the comic book literate would recognise it: moulded from clay and raised as an Amazon warrior on the all-female island of Themyscira, Diana – daughter of Queen Hippolyta and King of the Gods Zeus – travels to the world of mortals...

New Mutants isn’t the only 2018 blockbuster to be tinged with horror; as Hollywood veteran Willem Dafoe noted late last week, Warner’s hotly-anticipated Aquaman is also steeped in the genre of shrill music and jump-scares, which isn’t all that surprising given it’s coming by way of The Conjuring mastermind, James Wan.
Placing Jason Momoa’s King of the Seven front and center, the Aquaman standalone pic has naturally taken a backseat to Justice League, which will find Momoa’s Atlantean rubbing shoulders with Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg and The Flash late next month. There’s also the resurrection of Superman to consider, though we imagine Zack Snyder’s DC blockbuster will spend time establishing the titular team before drafting Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel into the fight.

"Justice is served!" Are you ready for more?! Warner Bros has debuted the third & final trailer for DC's epic, save-the-world Justice League movie, and it looks even more exciting and action-packed than we've seen before. We've seen two other trailers for this previously, but with a month left to go, this final one has finished footage that looks promising. Let's hope this turns out awesome! Fire it up. If you’ve been anywhere near a discussion about Man of Steel or Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, you’ll have heard one major complaint: “It’s tooooo dark!” While it’s a bit of a simplistic criticism, I think they’ve got a point.
Zack Snyder, for better or worse, clearly takes these heroes’ psychological and personal problems dead serious, resulting in some occasionally painfully po-faced melodrama in which it becomes perilously difficult to take seriously a super-powered space alien debating with a billionaire dressed up as a bat.
Spooked by the critical mauling that Batman V Superman received, it’s commonly assumed that Warner Bros. realized they needed to adjust course quickly and that if Justice League was a humorless slog it ran the chance of killing the whole Dceu project. Hence getting Joss Whedon in to finish the film and reportedly engaging in last minute reshoots...

Despite my constant belly-aching over the fate of the Dceu, I am actually really excited about Justice League. I have loved the DC heroes since Cartoon Network first started airing episodes of Superfriends as a little kid, and never stopped. While I have many hesitations (such as the awful Batman V Superman), the hope is that maybe WB learned from their mistakes. The fact that Joss Whedon is there to help steer the story... Read More...

When Justice League finally arrives next month, there will be a lot of fans out there praying that it won’t be anything like Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Despite the nerd-pleasing clash of the title, the gloomy tone and the wayward characterization of its eponymous heroes put many people off the movie.
Infamously, the negative reaction to BvS initially hit its star, Ben Affleck, quite hard, as seen in the hilarious “Sadfleck” video that went viral. Here we are over a year later, though, and the actor’s had time to reflect on what people had to say about the film. It turns out that he now understands the root of the criticism, even going so far as to call it “fair.”
Speaking to Empire (via ScreenRant), Affleck had this to say:

Justice League is not Joss Whedon’s movie nor is it a vehicle for Diana Prince, the fabled heroine otherwise known as Wonder Woman; instead, it’s a film that still very much belongs to Zack Snyder, despite his decision to vacate the director’s chair back in May in light of a personal tragedy.
Those are just some of the DC-related tidbits to emerge over the past week or so, and now that Justice League has officially been ushered onto the cover of Empire’s November issue, that deluge of information looks set to continue unabated. In fact, we’re now learning that it was always Zack Snyder’s intention to lighten the film’s tone, which effectively debunks those claims that Warner Bros. turned to Joss Whedon in their time of need. For what it’s worth, the former Avengers director will receive a screenwriting credit alongside Chris Terrio...

It’s almost cliche to criticize the grim tone of the DC Extended Universe at this stage, which is just one factor that may have led to today’s news that Warner Bros. is moving away from an McU style ‘cinematic universe’ after Justice League. But ever since Superman snapped General Zod’s neck like a twig, people have been complaining that these films simply aren’t very cheery, with Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice being a particularly morose and self-serious cinematic affair.
So, it’s interesting to learn that comics legend and Dceu executive producer Geoff Johns has been pushing for the films to lighten up even before the release of Man of Steel. In a wide ranging interview with Vulture, they touched on this tonal problem and apparently, Johns repeatedly raised concerns that the movie’s take on Superman didn’t contain enough lightness or humour, but...

It’s a hard time to be a DC fan right now. Despite the fleeting high from the one good movie in the company’s shared cinematic universe – Wonder Woman – there isn’t much to celebrate. Say what you will about Man of Steel’s level of quality, but it completely missed the point of being a Superman movie. Batman v Superman was a shattering disappointment for even the most die-hard DC fans and Suicide Squad was somehow markedly worse. And with every fresh announcement coming out of parent company Warner Bros, the hope of DC somehow turning this mess around seems

Even though Justice League is now less than two months away, we still know very little about Superman’s role in the movie. While it’s the worst kept secret in the world that the Man of Steel will return from the dead at some point, fans have a lot of questions about what’ll happen once he does. One of the oldest theories goes that the Big Blue Boy Scout will initially turn evil and fight his former allies.
It seems that this idea has been right on the money all along, as a key figure of the production has now let slip some juicy details about Superman’s return. Legendary composer Danny Elfman spoke to Billboard recently to talk about his Justice League score and in the process, he ended up revealing that Superman’s allegiance won’t be as clear cut as you would think.

Everyone has an opinion by this point about Zack Snyder‘s pretty turgid “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice.” Perhaps that’s fair given it was supposed to be the anchor of a new DC Films universe, that over a year later, is still trying to figuring out its footing. Now, yet another opinion has landed about why the movie didn’t work, and it comes from a surprising place: “Watchmen” artist Dave Gibbons.

Before Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was even a glint in Zack Snyder’s eye, Darren Aronofsky was plotting to make a big screen version of Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One. Over the years, though, we’ve seen many proposed superhero movies fail to make it past the development stages, and sadly, this was one of those.
Unfortunately, the studio became more enamoured with the idea of a big-budget project featuring both the Caped Crusader and Man of Steel rather than a low-budget Batman solo film. And although Batman V Superman wouldn’t see the light of day (in that form anyway) for quite a while, many of the components of Batman: Year One would find their way into Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins. That film ended up being quite different to what Aronofsky had in mind, of course, and as such, many still wonder how things would...

The box office projections for Justice League are here and they predict that the much anticipated team-up extravaganza is going to earn the second biggest opening weekend of any DC Extended Universe movie after Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Box Office Pro is projecting that the flick will make an impressive $150 million in domestic gross over its first three days in cinemas. If this is similar to how things actually play out come November, it’ll place the movie just behind BvS, which pulled in $166 million over that same period. For comparison with the rest of the Dceu, Suicide Squad earned $133 million, Man of Steel managed $116 million and finally, Wonder Woman opened to $103 million.
Overall, these predictions peg Justice League for a total domestic gross of $330 million, which would put it level with BvS and a little above Suicide Squad‘s $325 million and Man of Steel‘s $291 million. Wonder...

With a box office total north of $840 million, it’d be foolish to write off Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice as an out-and-out failure, but it’s fair to say that Zack Snyder’s titanic crossover didn’t quite resonate with the moviegoing masses in the way Warner would’ve hoped – ditto for Suicide Squad, but that’s another story entirely.

From the start, Warner Bros’ approach to the DC Extended Universe of films has seemingly been “just make it to Justice League.” Man of Steel might have been the exact opposite of a Superman movie and Batman v Superman might have been one of the worst movies of last year – somehow exceeded by the brazen awfulness of Suicide Squad – but
