World's No.#1 Anime in using Significant Animation
SaptarshiForYou27 December 2017
I usually don't like this sex appealing and depressing animes. But at least in my whole life I, at last came upon a masterpiece anime which used animation beyond everyone's out reach expectation. I have to say it is not an anime to enjoy or for enjoyment(except sexual actions), but if you focus on the story plot and the sequence story telling, You can surely notice it had a really storng, dark, social outcast, Realic plot.

So I therefore request the viewers, "Plz don't watch this show if you are here only for entertainment. If it's for learning Love then you can watch through. But please never ever tell this and reamark is as bad. If you don't like it, it's ok everyone has his own perspective but never discourage other viewers, they might like it".

and now for this plot to be worth heavy:- 1. You can watch other animes, Romantic and love stories. You may like them as they have journey, struggle and Lovey-dovey scenes, it's really heart warming. But did you have any proof that those kind of romance is really exists in our life.....I think No, they are just our melancholic imagination.

2. But this anime the love which prevails is actually totally exists. Same Gender Attraction, Sibling complex, Love failure and revengeful lust, Jealousy is fullfiled the anime. And it is all about realistic social concept of our day to day life...... Yes It exists even in our society

3. At last which made this anime worlds no 1, its animation representation. What to say I really lost my words. Everyone know Shakespeare is known for his legendrical use of significant Monochoromic words and explanation. So For this anime, "Scum's Wish" it also has such quite impact overall animation. The dilamic use is spiritual so go and watch it...I recommand it

at last but not least It has scientific describtion of love in a social dark manner. Opening and ending songs clearly proves it.

Thanks for giving me the chance to review my best dark reality anime , 'Kuzo no Honkai'. If you don't get the real concept then you are not enough mature to watch it. Yes it is not that the anime is not worthy for you, it is that you are not worthy for this anime to catch up. Good Bye. Hope you have a happy day.

Sexuality and relationship in a contemporany obsessive world
anti_heroi28 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
In 2017, the year when Kuzu No Honkai was relanced, I watched this anime in first time and, now, in 2020, I watched in second time. Now, I can see qualities and deffects of the work because of personal maturity that I don't had in past. I can define what is real and irreal in Kuzu no Honkai.

The anime is a critic about the contemporanies relationships, with all its rot and its emotionla emptiness, in the manner that the viewer see the imorality and egoist of the characters, and in the middle of that, the mainly anime theme is sexuality, relationships and love. All the pervesion that Hanabi lives increases your doubts about such fears. Characters like Akane, who uses the interesting of Hanabi by Kanai to inflate her ego and her psicotapy, and Mugi, who uses a virgin and inexperient girl to conquer his objective, even Hanabi do the same, but it's not in same proportion because Mugi hava emotional maturity for possible consequences, something who Hanabi, probably, doesn't have, and this agreement is worse when it banalize the sex and human relationships.

Hanabi is the character who most hurt her self in the story. She has questions and aswers about sexuality and relationships in a toxic and immoral social environment. It's not meanig Hanabi it's a holy and pure person in a bad and evil world, because this is a puritany opinion, but it's clean the moral difference between her and Mugi when both is loved by Sanae and Akane, in this order. While Hanabi accepted rejection, Mugi surrenders to Akane even though he knows her bad personality. One detail about how is hard to Hanabi address these issues is the ausence of adult figures like parents/family in anime. The teenager is anole is this issues. The ausence of adultos is not only in Kuzu No honkai but in the most of Slice of Life and/or teen colegial life. In this type of genre, the adults is not a character that is showed in totality (or is not showed), even characters like teachers or parents. It's different than ocidental TV series/teen soup operas where teenagers/teacher have more participarion in story (even, something, they are showed like "a bad evil while teenagers is like a saint who must to 'purificated' their parents and theacher"). It can be explained by the hectic routine of Japanese adults in a country where the workload is very high.

Akane, the mainly antagonist in anime, has, in a psicological aspect, a instantanea mudance when the teacher has relationship with Kanai. In same way, the construction of personality non-espontanea, like as personality of people is a lot of caricatures. The Akane's evil side don't have a logical explication like a event in past, for example. It's like the only ration to the existence of Akane is represent a typical stereotypic representating a psicopaty characters (something like "yandere"). This problem about the personality of Akane is like the way that Kanai is showed in anime: like as a excellent teacher without deffects who everyone love, and his function is "purificate" Akane.

Kuzo No Honkai is about sexuality and relationships in a contemporany obsessive world. The characters is so extreme and strange, mainly Akane and Moca, that, if the objetive of the anime it's represent a human deffect with a exaggeration, its objetive was accomplished. It's like show machism with a incel/misogine that kill womans (Tarantino's Death Proof style). In the end, Hanabi and mugi questions aren't gone.

Decent but twisted
okiufi16 May 2020
I hate it when people review something and then say "if you don't get it, it means you're not mature." It's so condescending.

I understand everybody's pain here, and that makes them unbearable to watch. There's so many cringe scenes, but there's also beautiful and tragedy scenes. This anime is definitely not the best, but it's not bad either.

I don't really like the plot they were going, especially with Akane's. But it's just my opinion.

Unrequited love.
erikacunanan2913 October 2019
Honestly, I don't know how to feel about this anime. There were parts that I liked and understood, but there were parts where I cringed hard. Some of the actions of the main characters were so unbelievably twisted, especially Akane's, that it annoyed me so much. I think that the anime showed to many sexual activities. I get that some of it were for the story, but it seemed too much. I liked that it showed the different sides of people - what each of them would do when they experience unrequited love. Loneliness is one of the main themes of this - how coping with loneliness sometimes makes you do stupid decisions. I did not love any of the characters because they all did wrong things (except for Narumi), but I understand where they came from. Their actions are much more realistic, but more on the darker side.

On the other hand, I liked the animation. It was beautifully drawn and pleasing to the eyes. The sceneries looked so realistic.

Overall, I liked the animation and that it showed different sides of people, but I think that it's not for everybody, especially the younger audience. It had many adult contents, and most of them were too much. If you can see past the adult contents though, it can show you a much more realistic view on life on how being alone can negatively affect you.

Shallow story goes to nowhere with one dimensional characters and unfounded "redemption arc"
Rakshun18 April 2023
I'm angry. I'm so angry that I have to write a review... How is it said? The path you walk is more important than the destination it leads to? Well, it was a long and boring path then leading to nowhere.

Our main characters are two girls and a boy and two teachers, a woman and a man. Nobody is really good or bad, but some of them are definitely nasty. In the beginning some of the characters are going out with each other, getting into bed with each other, with or without loving each other, which is not an issue at the first place, and it gets you involved pretty fast, so it's okay.

Problem arrives when you realize that their story goes nowhere actually. There is an - intended to be -, very dramatic scene - in the rain, of course -, between the two of them, which is really a now or never moment and which could have actually lead to a nice ending. But no. Those folks just disappear for the next few episodes and then comes a "redemption arc" between another two hardly introduced characters, out of nowhere, about unconditional love, which can save even the lost souls. Hm, okay... excuse me, what was that now?!

Anyway, it could have worked, if that "redemption" had been properly setup and prepared in the first place, but unfortunatelly, it was not the case. It just happened, boom. (I have doubts, that it would work at all in real life...) The two involved hardly got any screen time before, we definitely know close to nothing about one of them. We are told, though, that they went out several times, but even when we saw such occasions at all, it was like watching two strangers interacting, they hardly had anything common or lead a proper talk about anything (and anyway, show it, don't tell).

For the last episode then everybody returns, but don't expect too much. None of the threads are closed properly. (Will there be a Season 2? Maybe I should check the manga, but I've lost my interest.)

It felt shallow. Almost felt like as the author could not write properly or maybe it was a weekly manga with no clear directions. Or the script was written by a middle schooler. Or I don't know... The dialogs were shallow, the relationships were shallow, at least what was shown, and then an open ending... I could not like it, it felt like wasted time. NTR: Netsuzou Trap did more in less than half of that time.

(The English dub, the opening and the ending, the art were all great, also the characters were likeable. It's not bad for wasting time. Does this show has anything common with Domestic Girlfriend? The art looked similar and the script was equally weak with some catchy scenes. I feel sorry about this.)

Unrequited love, especially from a person you have access to, who interacts with you but never develops the same feelings you have for them, is a weight on the heart.
Amari-Sali2 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The Introduction

Yasuraoka (Hanabi) has known Kanai since she was a child. He was the male figure in her life since her dad wasn't around and her mother was his maternal figure. As neighbors, they grew a close bond but for Yasuraoka, their bond crossed over onto love. Sadly, it seems Kanai's heart may belong to Akane. She is the love interest of Mugi, a boy she used to tutor in middle school and who, like Yasuraoka with Kanai, has found to now be his high school teacher.

Having to now try to hide their feelings because it could affect their beloved's job, and deal with seeing them fall for someone else, Mugi and Yasuraoka share a mutual sorrow. So, one day, after spending a lot of time with one another, Yasuraoka makes a move on Mugi. It starts as a joke but develops into a full blown relationship. However, it is more so a relationship to act as love's methadone than because of a real interest in each other. At least, that's the story for now.

Highlights

It Gives you "The Feels"

The feeling of being friends, or simply close, to someone who you have feelings for. The type of feelings beyond the physical but you are mentally and emotionally attracted to them, that's hard to deal with. Especially in the situation Yasuraoka and Mugi are in for not only is there a likelihood of rejection, but now the relationship they have has to be secret. They can't have close, almost intimate in a way, relationships with students. For your love to likely be unrequited hurts enough, but now you can't share it on top of that? You can't put it out into words and share it with someone to lessen the weight of it? Imagine that. How can you get over someone that you can't be told the flaws of, told how you could do better or any means which could try to chisel away at a crush?

Though you may not have had an exact situation, a crush on a teacher or authority figure, it is easy to relate to the idea of feeling so much for someone who only feels just enough for you to keep you hanging on.

It Got Sexual Without Seeming Dirty

Sex in anime often times leans toward being ecchi or just straight hentai. It seems made strictly for male viewers to get tantalized by. Now, I won't say the fondling scene between Mugi and Yasuraoka couldn't be seen that way, but it seems more about intimacy, perhaps even a longing by both parties to touch or be touched, than something done for hard ons.

It Isn't All Doom and Gloom

While dealing with a subject matter I'm sure many don't necessarily want to revisit or be reminded that it currently exists in their life, there are comical moments. There are moments when, even if they can't have the ones they really want, there is some solace in Mugi and Yasuraoka having each other. And while they aren't necessarily settling for the other person, but perhaps compromising, there is something peaceful in their relationship. Something that leads you to believe that while love and what you as a person need may not come from the one you want, it doesn't mean you are undeserving. For while there is a pact between the two to not fall in love with one another, it honestly seems they are fooling themselves. Especially Yasuraoka.

Low Points

The Big Bro Thing Is Kind of Creepy

In the beginning, I thought this was about incest. Yasuraoka calling the guy she likes "Big Bro" and it not being made clear, at first, they weren't related was weird enough to make me question watching this. Though, as time went on, and it was made clear they weren't blood relations, it made this easier to watch. However, it doesn't lessen the creepiness of the idea she calls someone her Big Bro and she wants said person to kiss her, touch her intimately, and love her as no one has before.

Overall: Positive (Watch It)

This is definitely a decent season for anime featuring romance, but this one maybe the cream of the crop. It isn't dealing with a boy meets girls under weird, and sometimes random, situations. It is about two people using each other to feel what someone else isn't likely to give them. Yet, there is an openness about it. Leading you to wonder, if not hope, they may find love in each other and not through the filter of seeing each other as their beloved. Though, only time will tell.

Waste of time
nolaquinn28 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This anime had an interesting start. The premise is fascinating and I was really looking forward into seeing how this would turn out. It all started going down hill when I realised that the teacher is a plain evil b*- , I think this anime tried too hard in being complex by giving the main characters mental issues which would then drive the plot. At first these issues where somewhat understandable, like i got why they acted in their irrational unhealthy way, but after a while it got too absurd. In the second half I completely lost track of what each character was telling themselves to justify their misery. At this point nothing made much sense anymore. There was no coherence and everything just seemed random and destructive. The characters got progressively unlikeable and the worst of all: Instead of the main characters finding happiness or love, it's the villain who in 2 episodes gets "redemption" and gets the happy ending. That to me was the last straw. Hated this, total waste of time. It's truly a shame because the premise and the interaction were very interesting. Once the story started to focus on the villain, which was terribly written imo, it was over.

Unique story line for a school romance anime
abhas26048 July 2020
This anime is a breath of fresh air when it comes to high-school romance anime. The story is twisted and dark but the ending was good. All the characters were different, with beautiful backstory. This anime is for a more mature audience. I honestly think, this anime is highly underrated. Definitely worth a watch!!

Worst lvl max
tonmoybd-947952 August 2023
I have watched more than 300 anime so far and I am familiar with every genre of anime. I didn't actually started to watch this anime but Let's just say I got curious. I had a very low expectation cause I knew a little bit of the plot. I could not finish episode 6, I started vomiting. Trust me this is by far the most twisted and disgusting anime I have ever watched. I Don't usually review the shows I watch but I had to cool down my head. Worst experience ever. Especially when those two girls start gettimg intimate, gosh I never expected that.

Ahh now my nausea is getting little better. Thanks.

Not your regular romantic anime.
divijchhabra6 February 2022
I get it why this show has got low ratings. Maybe It's not for everyone, maybe it's not for new anime watchers, but I damn liked it. It is definitely not your fan service anime. I love the deepness and how dark and twisted it gets at times. Dives into toxic and dark side of human psychology. Definitely not boring like people have mentioned, I was completely hooked up and binge watched.

Just another excuse to make characters make out with each other
ACollegeStudent13 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Rating: 3.0

I get the themes they were trying to convey with unrequited love, however that doesn't stop the fact that the majority of the plot was just contrived for fanservice's sake. The animation looked good, but other than that, the plot was boring and slow. To top it off, the worst girl (the teacher) got the best ending because apparently the message they wanted to end with was, getting in a relationship with the goal of changing someone is a good idea.

Watch it after domestic girlfriend
shrigadhave1 February 2022
Both stories focus on a part of love which is often omitted in other works deleted to romance gener . But characters from domestic girlfriend show, show some self than characters from scum's wish. Scum's wish tries to take things to extreme which makes it more of a masterpiece for still able to Pierce viewers heart If you watch it after domestic girlfriend you can get into story more easily because one thing both can do perfectly is making cliche plot twists acceptable , you know things like a certain character in anime you realise just by looking at his character design he's gonn be villain's pown when that happens no one cares about that. But this both anime can make you think about that cliche plot One last thing I don't think you will be able enjoy it if you think love is always pure and not look at it objectively.

invisibleunicornninja16 June 2018
I don't have a lot to say about this show. The animation is very good. The music is boring. The voice acting is boring. The story, though a bit strange, is boring. The characters are annoying. I will admit I didn't watch the whole thing, but that's cause I got bored.

I never thought that this show is gonna show some real facts! It has shown really how one can behave when your love is in love with someone else yk that jealousy that comes with in you when your crush is talking to someone else who also seems to like them back -_-! That possession you hold knowing that they aren't gonna be with you! This show is quiet dark yk not the typical romance anime! It gave me a great insight that foundation of love is acceptance! Accepting yourself and your partner! I still can't believe 1 finished this show in a day!! I wouldn't recommend it for someone who is here for "happy ending and everything's gonna end up well And if you're not ok with nudity or make out scenes please don't watch this bc in every ep you gonna find make out scenes!! But man oh man this show is a true a masterpiece can't express my love toward this show!! It really shown how sex drive can make a person go crazy in lust which i really found it interesting! Trashy Melodrama
arorashadow_200328 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I'll have to let Scum's Wish (Kazu no Honkai) be a good reminder to really examine the premise of a show more closely before watching. The genres were interesting enough to catch my eye in the first place, romantic drama, psychological and so on it sounded like good makings for a more serious romance after watching the more light hearted and bubbly romance shows that I loved such as One Week Friends, Yona of the Dawn and Snow White With the Red Hair so the best I could hope for is something like Destiny of the Shrine Maiden (Kannazuki no Miko) but rather I end with was School Days redux that mysteriously is trending better than School Days.

The basic concept of two teenagers forming a pact to quell their loneliness should sound and come as a heart breaking romance or the potential of a feel good story where they find the love with each other, maybe a cautionary tragedy a deconstruction of the Romeo and Juliet plot, or just simply learn to accept and move on from their first loves but the first episode left such a sour taste in my mouth that I only hope for a miserable end to our two little losers who deserve what they get. Hanabi Yasuroka is in love with an older man who is her teacher but curiously refers to him as her older brother despite no relations. I'm convinced they do that to have a incest or sister-brother-complex without having to do that. And you have Mugi Awaya likewise is in love with a teacher that is in love with the man who Hanabi is in love with then we're introduced to Noriko Kamomebata who is in love with Mugi and then to Sane Ebato who is in love with Hanabi, but wait there's more! Turns out the music teacher Akane Minagawa likes to use men! Can this awful love web become more convoluted and ridiculous? Though having no actual romantic ties our two main characters certainly love to get physical enough to have the most casual sex and try to write it off as nothing and love to deny being anything more than cheap friends with benefits. Anime fans laud this show for the "maturity" but casual sex in an anime isn't maturity it's just fan service that goes a little further than the usual bouncing boobs and panty shots.

The first episode by itself is a mess in structure jumping between time periods of past and present and the confusing referral of Hanabi's love interest as her brother leads a viewer to believe this may be an incest based anime. In fact I'm convinced that's why is just to give it an incest angle for the incest fetish without having to do incest. The second episode began to narrow its focus but everything keeps jumping around it becomes hard to tell what is ever going on at any given time because of the massive story leaps. But the writing only spirals more and more as the dialogue gets to near Twilight levels of insufferable. It's amazing to also see how much Mugi denies that he and Hanabi have sex even though we get a full scene with her in bed stroking his erection.

The animation looks all right, aesthetically it's quite pretty and seems to go for a manga vibe with split screen and paneling. However they have a real tendency to abuse the hidden eyes trope many anime do wherein a characters eyes will disappear either to reflect deep emotion or be scary and intimidating for a moment. Many anime do this from time to time but I can't say I've seen an anime do it so much.

The music feels to be the one redemption to this otherwise piece of garbage as were treated to a very nice original score by composer Masaru Yokoyama (of Your Lie in April fame) with some very pleasant to listen to melodies that enrich the atmosphere but it's too bad this isn't atmosphere I want to be in.

Scum's Wish I feel is trying to go for a "so uncomfortable" vibe, which can be done well, one only need watch David Fincher films but the cast of deplorable characters added with the sappy, convoluted over the top writing make this show unbearable to sit through.

Warning: Spoilers
Ok so it's about two high school students who are in love with their teachers and tend to have sex every so often because they don't seem to love them back. While I think the animation was gorgeous, I think the story was pretty dull and just way too forceful for the characters to develop. I mean seriously, this series really has nothing much to show but just have two teenagers wet fantasizing of their teachers and having sex with each other out of desperation. Yeah... pretty boring and rather feel sorry for poor story/character development here...

lightofgamer21 January 2022
I think that this is the most frustratingingly terrible anime i've ever seen. Like wow this was so hard to watch, every single character in the show does such unrealistic and inhuman things that it's laughably stupid. Why is the animation so good for it being such a dull and uninteresting bad show. Trust me if you are reading this do not waste your time watching, save yourself the headache. I don't know why people are relating to this and saying scum's wish was good because it just isn't. If you relate to this show at all get some serious mental help, because you are just sick.

The rejection of happiness
300Megahertz24 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The relationship of the protagonists feels very rushed, though them becoming closer over time and learn to love each other should have been the leading motive. Instead, they are doing it in the first episode. At times it feels irritating how both of them cling to childhood fantasies while doing mature stuff, to the point were I thought they actively work against their own happiness. That is especially irritating when considering that the both of them actually are a great couple. But for some bizarre reason, they just don't want it to work. But overall, it seemed like things would work out well for them, as it was hinted here and there. And they admittedly have some great moments! Moments, where I expected, "I love you," to be dropped at any moment. So there clearly are expectations building up. But then the show decides to make a U-turn, creating all sorts of artificial conflicts. Of course the good old love triangle, which we have seen ad nauseam already. But in this case, its depiction is particularly stupid. It also explores the minds of the protagonists' teachers (their crushes), though they are merely plot devices, and it should have stayed that way; loving ones' teacher is a bad cliche to begin with. The protagonists also create all sorts of unnecessary problems, like cheating and miscommunication. The resolution of it all is a joke. The last episodes just get wasted. And again, it is strongly hinted at that point that things might work out well for the protagonists' relationship, but for some bizarre reason they just decide that they shouldn't. At the end, both protagonists are exactly where they started, lonely, unhappy, plus they both lost friends.

At least the title fits... Scum!
Industry_Insider8430 April 2024
I am pretty open minded to most love stories and even would go as far as to consider myself a hopeless romantic. Anime like Clannad: After Story, Ah! My Goddess, and several love/romance/pain combination type anime can be done really well. The Pet Girl of Sakurasou is even a weird well done addition. They all have one thing in common, that Scum's Wish doesn't. The characters may all be somewhat diluted, but they aim for what they desire. Their conclusions are usually beautifully told and felt with the audience. Love is the most powerful thing in these stories.

Scum's Wish sets apart from this from the beginning. With a bad set of unlikable characters to their twisted disgusting fantasy. One is some sort of incel and the other is a skank wish some kind of twisted incestual lust for her brother.

They both act nasty to other people and while it may display a more realistic depiction of how horrible humanity can be. Nobody really wants to see that?

Skip it.
